Planet Wisp was beautiful but boy did I hate the stage when it got to the 2D platforming section.
Planet Wisp summarises all of my problems with Modern Sonic incredibly concisely. A beautiful and incredibly fun 3d section that's followed by an extremely dull 2d platforming section that's five times as long and takes place in a visually uninteresting and repetitive environment.
I've always pointed out that for all the love I give Generations, or at least Modern Sonic in Generations, Planet Wisp in both acts is a breaking of the Geneva Convention. Perhaps an exaggeration, but the only fun i've had from them ever was breaking them wide open and in the brief 3D sections. Unfortunately I never did get far enough in Colors to get a feel for the original levels.
I have never for one second in any post-Unleashed Sonic game been in a 2D section of a Modern Sonic stage and said to myself "yes, this is more fun than the forward-facing 3D sections, i am glad that i am doing this and not moving in 3D". It's all tedious filler I have to wade through to get back to the part that's actually enjoyable.

someone at funko went like "these look fine"
someone at funko went like "these look fine"
someone at funko went like "there are thousands of people out there who will pay us money for these"
Eggman looks like he has flesh coloured comically oversized eyebrows. Also, why do the have the white sclera? They looked fine without it, now Sonic and Shadow look high
"Exclusive at Hot Topic" I shouldn't have laugh as hard as I did.

Like Sonic just did some hard drugs and is about to go spazzing out on the floor or something
A new Forces trailer, all in Japanese. Has some cutscene snippets that could be considered a little spoiler-y perhaps, but beyond that it seems that there's a few sneak peeks at Modern Green Hill, and for some reason [sp]Metal Sonic turns giant in his boss fight???[/sp]
KLASSIKU SONICU love the pronunciation of japanese
Why is the Avatar character's proportions slightly off compared to the rest of the modern designs? This has been bothering me for a while.
Why is the Avatar character's proportions slightly off compared to the rest of the modern designs? This has been bothering me for a while.
No one really knows for sure, probably to create something that's slightly different from Modern Sonic but still have a lean and basic body base for all male and female avatars (and generics that show up). Some theorize it may of originally been Boom Sonic due to the proportions and similarities between the grapple hook and the ener-beam thing the Boom series initially had and gradually forgot about.
Would be funny if you could actually recreate boom sonic.

Eggman looks relatively fine because he uses glasses instead of having oversized pupils which works well with funko pop's style of, well, oversized pupils.
yeah well all the rest of those are nightmare fuel
Not Bad
Sega had a ton of confidence in Mania with how much they've shown off. The rate at which they show off Forces content shows me they're not as confident

Ehhhh. I also do hope he holds the source code for the Saturn version, i want to see how we would implement all those changes on the Saturn. Everything else is perfect though.
According to the comments in the video previously he stated that he does not have the Saturn port's code as it was handled by another team.
While I'd love the Director's Cut to be a mod for Saturn or PC, the Genesis version on Steam is the easiest to get and doesn't need any extra patches/utilities to play on modern PCs, unlike the native port. The Genesis version also has Steam Workshop support.
I really want to try sonic 3D blast now, I actually own a port of it for pc made by this company called xplosiv and the disk is labeled 'SONIC RACER' for whatever reason.
People have been pointing out branching pathways in Forces recently and it's restored an ever so slight bit of hope somewhere deep down in me. It's not a lot, but I'm going to take the tiniest sliver of optimism I can get for this game.
Well that's at least something. Those alternative pathways gave depth to the levels in Generations.
I just don't like the short level design. Most unleashed stages I can run in 4:30 average while generation's is more like 2:30.
It's still very possible the game could be like, at least Generations levels of good. I'm not trying to justify any of what they're doing but I honestly don't think the game is going to be miserable. It's a big possibility that we're getting a case where the game looks way worse because of absolutely shit marketing (see DOOM '16, critically panned from the trailers, but received critical acclaim and various awards after launch.) Granted I don't think it's going to be nearly that massive of a shift with Forces, but there's a big chance we're essentially being shown the game in the shittiest ways possible, especially in how they've just been fucking blasting through levels, avoiding alt. paths and most things interesting.
