The thing is I think I'm interested in the PvP aspect of the game but I know so little that once I start playing it might turn out I like something else even more.
The best advice I can give is to start up a trial account and play through the tutorials. Trials last 30 days, so you should have enough time to decide if you want to stick around.
I've always wanted to get into wormhole hunting (as in hunting carebears in wormholes) but I always have the issue of getting money to fund my ideas. Missions are repetitive and boring, mining is mind-numbing, the market takes a long time but I am starting out a little bit, barely making profits though. Maybe one day.
You should try living in wormhole space first. There are some groups that will accept relatively low SP characters that live in lower class space. It'll introduce you to wormhole mechanics, such as POS living, rolling, scanning, and ganking. If you have a C3 static, their sites can make some of the best money in the game. About 40 million ISK in blue loot, 50 million if you're lucky with salvage. Each one takes about 20-30 minutes to run. An entry level ship should only cost 4-600 million, and you could run them in less expensive, less SP intensive ships if you're in a group. They can be a bit repetitive, but they also are thrilling given the gank factor. Assuming you're not brand new, I know a few groups that would be willing to accept you. A few off the top of my head are Dropbears, Catastrophic Overview Failure, one of the many Low-Class corps, and a few others. The wormhole meta isn't as rookie friendly as it has been, but there are many corps that would accept a rookie of decent character age.
Resubbed, decided to join friend in a renter corp for BL. So much free space now that Brave is BTFO.
Be ready for hijinks tho, as today is fozziesov update day iirc.
didn't even bother looking into that mess today. just got on and started training cloaky hauler.
Which is fine. The only utterly useless skills in the game if you're interested in combat are mining and industry. Any skill you train that helps combat in some way, be it a skill for armor or a skill to use autocannons, is going to be useful later.
Yer, when I first started playing eve I did mining and put like 5 mill SP into it. Then realized it is one of the most boring things you can do thought it was all like that and left the game (this was like 2012-2013). Then got back into it about 6 months ago and started training into pvp. Still annoys me to this day that I wasted so much time in mining and industry, as if I got into pvp I probably would of carried on playing it and would have lots more SP now. Having said that being able to use t2 industry is useful, and now I am making a bit of money moving stuff to amarr from jita and my alliance home. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] Jesus this downtime is taking the piss been down for 5 hours and I was hoping to get some incursions done today. I hope we get something for it

Came back a few times trying different things and realized pretty much everything is better than mining.
the only proper miners are people who spend a few years, and got their own fleet of like 20 acccounts and a huge ass freighter to pick up and haul ore. Mining solo is the worst thing you can do afaik. There are also the occasional mining fleets, but they aren't nearly as efficient as a one man operation.

its back
Chinese bots* Also damn this is a long stretch of downtime. Anyone know what the record is?
Probably all those years ago after Tyrannis was deployed. It might have been Dominion though, I can't recall. The server was down for a couple of days actually. CCP reimbursed all active subs with a hefty pool of skillpoints.
I spent a month and a half hauling munitions and other goods from major hubs to smaller hubs and with in a month and a half I have generated 190mil ISK solely by hauling and selling at markups. Recently I've began to delve more into my capital by investing into more munitions of varying sizes and started to find out where markets consume modules. I have also began to expand into another region and other stations where the buy/sell volume is pretty high so that way I can get my goods to sell faster. I doubled the size of my market in two weeks by putting out more selling orders, from 100 mil ISK to about 200mil ISK worth of goods under my name on market. My total worth of assets and capital is about 650 mil ISK I think I can get 200 mil ISK of profit generated within a few weeks if I keep this up. Sadly my business is not large enough to employ hauling services otherwise I would be making a significant cut in my profit.

That is the thing about eve you need money to get money
Not to bad, how old is your character? That is the thing about eve you need money to get money
I've been on and off a lot with the game and it isn't until recent that I began to start market trading and hauling goods. Since the beginning of June I stopped grinding L4's and experimented with hauling and trading. My starting capital was 189 mil ISK. My income flow plateaus for a while too due to not logging in often and making an average of 1-2 trade hub runs every week to replenish my goods. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] The sudden drops are when I go to Jita and now Dixie to start purchasing munitions at the lowest price. It wasn't until a week ago I started to invest in more.
Unless you're good at social engineering, in which case the universe is your oyster :v
True, at the moment I have two alts in other corps that I am trying to scam. (Be a recruiter, go into corp, say that I need wallet perms to upload corp advert. run off with money/ wait till they get more money run off with it then). One of my alts had wallet perms just waiting for the corp wallet to reach at least a bill. Thing is even if the other one doesn't get wallet perms I am getting paid 50 mill per person I recruit to the corp so easy isk either way.
What tool are you using for those graphs? looks really usefull to prevent overspending on stuff and whatnot.
It seems to be Evernus. I find it can be a decent tool to track profits, but its calculation method is rather odd. It overestimates my total worth and doesn't track the small sub-day asset changes well.
I usually go for exploration to get some dosh, I found myself getting quite a lot of money quickly.
Shit going down in Amarr space right now. Drifters in Safizon right now and massing on the station.

Also, since I lost my job 3 months ago I've been itching to play eve. Now that I got a new job and my first paycheck, I log in and i'm instantly fucking bored.

I explore, I collect shit. So yeah, I can't find anyone to play with since everyone is constantly "lol I kil u".
When will I learn my lesson that sov null is boring as fuck and stop rejoining my old alliance. I think I just need to find a good lowsec alliance that uses caps and blops to derp around with, or wormholes if I can get into a decent corp. It was boring before but man, space capture the flag is more boring than running missions.
Finally bought EVE a few days ago. Been wanting to get into it since it first came out, but I never had the money. Then, once I had the money, I didn't have a proper internet connection to play it. I'm staying out of PvP and PvE, just been mining and manufacturing stuff since I started, but I've been having so much fun, and my ISK has been gaining steadily.
