The TiDi was actually working this time, aside from the odd desync and a apostle doing 230km/s on one of the Logi FCs toons. In comparison to whats been happening in gehi & other low secs its a dream come true.
There was some next level communication between the fleets. (Im in NC. in case you were wondering)

Just start a new toon. You'll have better mapped skills and be able to inject some 80k sp for free by doing the new tutorial.
Plus you get some isk, just send that to your main. :P

Have you tried relic sites? Maybe not the most lucrative but wormhole space never gets boring, at least for me
Man, every time I see stuff about eve, I want to play again, I just never manage to find a corp to join that keeps me interested. I finally managed to get 100m SP (was a goal of mine, not as impressive now with injectors I guess), can fly anything but Carriers/Supers/Titans (mostly just missing skillbooks), and don't know what to do anymore. I've mostly lived in wormholes and null, haven't really played since Citadels were added, most of the people I knew quit so I just stopped logging in. Would love to get into it again if I could find a solid group to run with.

Everything you just said, same exact thing for me I played since early 04 - 17 and honestly the best damn years for EVE Online was 05 - 08 - 10 I have over like 800+ contacts that were all the time playing and now sitting here today I have maybe one or two that logs on every now and then.. EVE was a great game many years ago, now days its a shell of its former self I miss old EVE so much, new EVE meh no one fights solo anymore, if you want to pvp you better have a gang...
Eve isn't fun for the solo players like most of us, and hasn't been since incarna.
i'm sure solo pvp is still possible and still fun but it's just never been financially soluble. it's also harder now that the single server is more and more and more saturated. you do it for the adrenaline and the kicks and the bragging rights and the sense of independence and then you're broke. it was all i did towards the end before i unsubbed. if you want to play eve solo then it's only a matter of time before you burn out, and i don't know if it was ever any different.

You can play for free at the moment, although you're limited in the amount of SP you can access and the skills you can access. You can go fly tackle for some null corp until you get some cash for a sub.

Have a look into digging through NPC null, you'll be able to dock in any of the NPC stations and branch out from there.
I'd highly recommend a Tengu for everything. Considering that T3s can now take off their rigs without destroying them they are perfect for both PvE, PvP, Scanning and moving around whiles being cloaky nullified. Best bit is you can carry all those refits with you including the rigs and swap out at any time.

Training wise they are not too bad, you'll need your racial cruiser skill to lvl5 and the racial sub systems skills to atleast 4 to be effective but I'd highly recomend you get them trained to lvl5 for the best effectiveness. Most exploration tengus are about 300-450million ISK and that includes a PvE combat fit also. A single string though null sec will pay for itself in no time at all.
You could also look into a stratios but you'll have to deal with interdiction bubbles on gates, allways warp to a nearby celestial such as belt or planet and run a D scan on your out gate so you know if its bubbled or not. (Assuming there a few guys in local ofc)
I've even seen some whacky exploration interceptor fits that are really cheap, giving you great manoeuvrability and interdiction nullification but you dont get any bonus' to your hacking tools making sites a fair bit harder to complete.
Edit: personally for ISK I have a spare super carrier toon where I pump out about ~350mil and hour depending on weather or not my wrists feel like it. SP Injectors are OP, lol.
