Does anyone else find it slightly annoying that killrights don't go away if you don't die? Gets annoying with multiple free killrights on you.

Thinking of getting this, but I've heard this game get called things ranging from boring, to more addictive than RollerCoaster Tycoon. Whys there always such a split? It it the time invested by the player or just luck?

It depends on how you start the game. A lot of the people who say the game is boring just mine and mission for a few weeks and then quit. A lot of the people who says it's fun start off by going into low, null, or wormhole space and doing PvP or exploration. Basically, mining and missioning is as fun as watching paint dry, while interacting with players tends to be where most of the fun is.

It's a sandbox game. You can do anything from stare at your screen all day to collapsing an entire 5+ year old alliance by stealing shit or giving out vital intel or even causing an internal conflict.
So at the end of the day it depends on you. If you're doing what you enjoy it won't be boring - if you're grinding away mining or missioning because it's the only way you can make isk and you hate every minute of it then yes you will be bored.
Really even PVP can be boring if you just gatecamp and nobody comes through for an hour or so.
If you do get the game I would recommend joining red vs blue or eve university.

Last I left off was just working on my primary toon in being able to run L3 missions for some funny money.

That's the boat I'm in. I love EVE, but I hate making money. If I could find a solid guide on marketing I might just try that, it would be a lot less boring than shooting red crosses or roids all day.

I think (before they had an in-game model) they spawned in groups of 2-3 like the seekers. If that's still the case, it'll be extremely dangerous to go in even with a carrier.
