aw man I've had PTU access since near the beginning but cool shit just keeps on happening I spawned a Tali, the grid was bugged so I stole the one next pad over and warped to Kareah I make my approach and lock in my pad but then suddenly shield warnings and space sparks anyway so I just decide to fuck it and run through the hallways, more space sparks and warning lights everywhere, and drop down the lower hatch as the on-fire Tali drifts past the station core I turn around to watch the ship burn and am treated to this sight of a Gladius just flashing past at top speed all guns blazing until the Tali explodes [t]http://i.imgur.com/aklfNjs.jpg[/t] then I went into the station and got killed by a guy with a P4, w/e :/ this game may be rough and buggy as fuck but damn if they haven't gotten the feel nailed down perfectly
I go to the second comm array for the mission and as I slowly ease up a bit to the spot to go inside, I throttle forward just a little bit and bam; I go mach 5 right into the array. This game is great
Someone at the repair station, with his pistol shot at me while in the ship. I predeced to kill him by ramming said ship into him Came back 10 minutes later [t]http://vgy.me/E2Wep6.jpg[/t] ship still there, 10/10 will ram people again.
so according to the patch notes, you can only summon the default loadout in port olisar? that significantly kills my hype, the default cutlass is complete garbo
I summoned my custom SH loadout of 4x Badgers and 2x Bulldogs with no problem.
What is this flair model you speak of? An ingame model of Aurora?
Yes, precisely. [t]http://scorpuk.net/images/constellation.png[/t] Takuetsu is an in-universe brand of replica ship models. They're hangar decorations that'll be obtainable in-game later. [t]http://i.imgur.com/DHnLaIN.jpg[/t] BDSSE
Well, I can't say I wasn't happy to play. And I can't say I didn't enjoy myself. But it was buggy as all hell, the performance was unacceptable, and I experienced near-constant crashes. I'd hoped the live build would be a little more solid. That said, I like the way things work when they DO work right. Looking forward to future patches.

wow i actually entered a server instance where i got 60 fps on low its like seeing a unicorn
I've been getting pretty good performance all evening, with occasional short periods of frame chugging. It passes though. Really enjoyed playing the 2.0 live drop tonight. Played some multicrew, manned some turrets, did a bunch of missions, pillocked myself into a transponder at 700+ mps. Good stuff.
Okay, I played some more, and now I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. Because I finally decided to tackle the Comms Arrays mission, got another mission to report to an exploration probe from there, the operator of which dispatched me to investigate a distress beacon in an eerie asteroid field that appeared to be the remnants of a large shattered asteroid (or small moon) - That was a pirate ambush. The gameplay itself was impressive enough, but the level of immersion in those missions, simple though they were, was awesome. And part of the charm was the complete lack of background music. Floating through that field of asteroids towards that distress beacon (That was flashing red on my screen in the far distance, a steady strobe) was a pretty spooky experience in my Hornet. No sound but the dull rumble of my thrusters as I switched in and out of cruise and combat mode, and the breathing of my character. What I don't like, though... the thick 'smoke' trails that come from enemy ships as a 'tell' to their state of damage, and the massive, colorful explosion every time you destroy one. I much preferred that explosion as a reward for a critical hit on a power plant, and to see ships I killed by other means continue to float on as lifeless husks, bits of debris keeping the same trajectory as they peel off.
Ever since it Live, I barely get over 30fps. It ran better for me during PTU. Hopefully I can get that sorted out.
wow i actually entered a server instance where i got 60 fps on low its like seeing a unicorn

Other than bug fixing our other major focus this month has been on performance. The 2.0 release threw up a LOT of performance issues due to the scale of the map and the amount of content the design team are pushing in, and so our team helped the rest of the studio diagnose and fix these issues. Most of the performance issues were with the CPU and not the GPU, and so that’s where our focus has been, and after several weeks of optimising we got the base frame-rate up from 20 fps to above 60 fps.
Well, my first load into the PU went as far as 2 metres forward and crash :v:
Well, I know for a fact the performance issues aren't related to my GPU. The game starts off running smoothly, and over time drops way down, to 15FPS. There's got to be a ship-related memory leak somewhere. Performance, for example, starts chugging when you engage a 300-series pirate ship in combat. Can anyone else verify this?
For some reason i keep crashing in Olisar, last night i was able to play just fine (minus the shitty performance). I don't know what's going on anymore :ohno: EDIT: I also keep falling through the floor of my Avenger stalker, so i can't even fly it.
I have a GTX970 and AMD Phenom II x4 965 overclocked to 4GHz, running off an SSD. Universe runs pretty poorly from the go and gets worse with all the big ships people spawn in. Isn't my CPU up to it? As far as AM3+ slot CPU's go, i thought this wasn't a bad one :(

Performance is worse than in Arena Commander (where I can get 40 when just flying around) but it seems more stable; I no longer get single digit FPS when someones shields are hit. If I could actually edit the goddamn console performance cvars while in-game, I could get a lot more oomph out of my system. I doubled my performance in MechWarrior Living Legends back when I just had 2gb of RAM and a GT 7600 by just min-maxing the graphical settings through the CCC utility and editing settings in-game.
Yeah, speaking of that, I've been seeing lots of people with really clear and smooth video of SC universe, but I've got some really bad performance. I've got a GTX980 with a current gen i7 4.0ghz processor. I even turned it down to medium graphics level and still pretty choppy. Is there a trick or something? [editline]12th December 2015[/editline] Also, my Cutlass doesn't have any collision, lol. I can't even get into it.
I hope we can swap out flight computers / Bitching Betty(s) later on. I love the Betty (Barry?) in the Gladius; it's short and concise, and always comprehensible. 300i is okay but nothing great, I'd rather have a more synthetic (think mechwarrior) voice or a more human one. The Aurora can become downright incomprehensible in combat
Righty now the alpha is running on low settings for me, at or about 40 - ish FPS with some drops on multiple ship activity. With my specs I'd consider my PC a "medium" model [t]http://i.imgur.com/l0Ydmbv.png[/t] Nothing is overclocked though I have the ability to do so
Anyone got a list of what is done and playable right now? Someone on my twitter just went "oh star citizen persistent universe is live" and I was under the impression that was late on the cycle when that stuff would be finished. I'm assuming that the reality is the game is still super beta/alpha and it isn't close to playable for those of us who want a more completed experience.
Turns out tables are 1 player only [t]http://afromana.com/u/259pj.png[/t] We make do.
Thats me. I remember sitting there eagerly awaiting for my cap'n to give me orders.
server full? what? aren't there multiple servers?
I got the same thing, managed to get in after rebooting the game. Man I suck at combat, tried to dogfight with some pirates and wound up ramming into the comm array :v:

Right now a lot of Cryengine's graphical settings are not exposed by the options menu and they intend on improving that instead of letting us fuck with cvars during runtime on the PU.
server full? what? aren't there multiple servers?
Matchmaking is still not 100% unfucked.
your CPU is not good enough for SC, sorry :( [editline]12th December 2015[/editline] and it's probably bottlenecking your GPU, too
I'm guessing if i forked out £150 on an AMD FX 9590 things would be better. Erkkk. I really thought the Phenom II was still a capable CPU, especially when OC'd to 4GHz.
SC is designed to make PCs cry. An i7/GTX980/16GB machine is today considered close to top-end for consumer gaming hardware - it should be capable of running SC at 1080p/60fps on medium at launch, according to CR when he was asked about the expected system spec requirements. The idea is to push the boundaries of what a PC game can do, and that means taking advantage of the fact that gamers can upgrade their machines -- games that are developed for console or with console ports in mind can't do this because consoles are fixed (and, by the time they're released, usually outdated already) spec. If you want to upgrade your machine specifically to play SC, and you don't just have the money to buy a $2000 machine every year, I would hold off on upgrading as long as possible - SC is being developed to take advantage of hardware that doesn't exist yet. The sooner you upgrade the more time Moore's Law has to make you obsolete.

a) In Discord (but mostly afk) b) alt+m to switch mouse modes. If the deadzone didn't exist I wouldn't use relative mode because I've gotten the hang of steering by continuous offset. The alternative is shoving your mouse off the desk trying to get the Aurora to pitch through a turn to stay on the AI's ass.
