How are you meant to finish things where you have a design where the goal post moves about as fast as you can run?
the goal post moving around is a double edged sword though.
Procedural planet tech isnt even supposed to have bare bones yet. yet it does.
I'm pretty sure they also said they plan to release the Procedural tech update after the main game is finished. That way it doesn't interfere with the main game's development and release.

That was before F42 Frankfurt came online with a ton of Crytek wizards. The procedural tech was once considered a "too difficult to mess with before launch, table it for post-launch development".
Now the plan is supposedly to have us landing at Levski slapped into a small procgen planet (basically the pupil to planet demo) this year. Considering how long it's been worked on, I can see that. It won't be the full procgen with tons of foliage and such, I'm sure, but I think a public build with at least semi-barren land could hit this year.
I really wish CIG would pony up and give us like 10 minutes of gameplay from SQ42 to watch, spoilers be damned. I'm absolutely dying to see it. There has to be some segment you can show that isn't "critical" to the plot, or doesn't make enough sense out of context to spoil things. Hopefully by the end of the year we'll see something.
kinda already did at citizencon one year, despite glitches happening during the gameplay.

I think there's something planned for GamesCom at the end of August. Or at the very least, Citizencon in November.
I think what he means is legitimate actual gameplay of shooting shit, not walking simulator

Yeah, shoulda clarified. I'd adore seeing some combat both in space and on foot, since that'll really sell the game when it's now competing with COD:IW and ME:A (When did Name: Subtitle become the standard naming convention for games? Jesus).

Except it doesn't. They haven't added any features in over a year to the overall design. About the only thing they've put effort into that they weren't originally planning on was procedurally generated planets to land on, which they had always said they weren't sure could be done.
Just now getting back into playing since the 2.4 update.... But I literally just sit on a loading screen trying to load planetside for ages.
Anyone else having issues just loading in?
when I first updated the live build it kept getting stuck on loading too. Just have to do the fix-all, on the launcher, click the options gear at the top right and hit 'verify files'. When it finishes, close and relaunch the launcher (reboot if you want to be super thorough), and it should iron out kinks like that.
Also nuke the USER folder as a standard first step. This does reset your keybinds and settings, but it usually fixes things. Save any screenshots you want to keep first.
I did both of those things. It's weird- I can load into my hangar within moment just fine. Then I'll try to go to ArcCorp so I can try out the new shops and change my clothes, and it just sits there on a black screen with "Loading" on the bottom for 10+ minutes and I just give up.
I may have to do a full reinstall.
Do you have the game installed on an SSD or an HDD, and what is your CPU/GPU/RAM?
When 2.0 was on PTU, after a certain internal patch I could never get into an instance, I'd always get kicked after 4.5 minutes from timeout. I had to move my install to SSD, then it loaded fast enough. I don't think this is precisely the same issue, but it could be related.
Something to keep in mind is that the player cap for ArcCorp instances is now 40 and it is by far the zone with the most stuff to load. You can also get into clothing/weapon shops in Port Olisar in Crusader.
Also try making a new Windows profile and just launching it there.
I have it installed on an HDD... I'm trying to keep my SSD in tip top shape and not mug it down too much, especially with a program so large.
I've got an i7 4.0ghz, GTX980, and 24gb of RAM.
Didn't know about Port Olisar having the shops as well. I'll try connecting there as well.
SC benefits heavily from the SSD, worth the move especially if you're reinstalling anyways

Man, I need an SSD.
Moving it. Just decided to delete it all. I had space to spare, so I'm starting from scratch. I hope that works.

OH shit, 5 minutes until it's done downloading.
I hope this works, decking out my character with clothing is admittedly my favorite part of many games.
That worked. Not sure if it had to do with completely reinstalling it, or putting it on my SSD, but it loads so much faster and it runs buttersmooth as well.
Trying out all of it.
Sorry to bog up the thread, but, how do you gain more UEC? Are there missions to do to receive funds? Because I reeaaally want some armor that I can't afford.
yeah, go turn on offlined comm arrays, do the covalex mission, or the ICC ones (these give the most at 2.5k, others give 1k)
Also look for glowing green lights at Yela and at the asteroid fields related to the comm array missions. These are beacons indicating salvageable cargo, and you may find multiple crates containing around 1000 UEC of contraband each, or personal weapons out there.
ArcCop ran amazingly smooth, even without a custom user.cfg, compared to the last time I visited it. I had some bad performance and choking, it wasn't perfect, but it was still a significant improvement. I was getting 50-60fps when I wasn't turning my camera left/right.
Got the black loading screen of waiting until you die, though, so I hit verify on the client and I'll try again later. I want to get out and earn some aUEC so I can get that electric shotgun and give it a try at defending Kareah.
The second Dragonfly Q&A is up. As well as the late Jump Point repost from last week, a corporate profile on Shubin Interstellar, the guys that own the Argo mining station that much of SQ42 supposedly revolves around.
Also, Darian Vorlick announced that he'll be moving on from CIG at the end of the week. Confidentiality means he can't disclose why, but he's still going to be involved in the project and game, just not in an official capacity as production coordinator.
This week's AtV is #100 and so there's something special being done. 10ftX is postponed until later in the week because they're overhauling their video content. Wednesday has Bugsmashers and the monthly subscribers edition of RtV (11am PST/8pm UTC), Vault update on Thursday this week.
I sense Big Benny music video reveal.

I noticed that you can place ship models and trophies on these little tables in the R&Y. My Khartu-al model apparently thinks it's camoflaged.
I played pretty much all night last night.
And when I started again just now, my FPS increased to buttery smooth for Port Olisar. How? Well, I FUCKING LOVE these missions. I had no idea. I bought myself some armor, and I'm aiming to get a few guns now.
Also, even though I have a Cutlass and a 325a, my mustang beta is my best ship by far.
If anyone wants to join me, let me know. I've never been on any of the bigger multicrew ships/played with friends.

The Dragonfly with all its plating off looks awesome. I really hope you can eventually have a janky patched-up junker of a Dragonfly if you want.

it'd be a clear choice to make standard pirate dergs do that, to fit it to the rough-and-tumble feel a band of junkers would have
I've been trying to get into Arc Corp forever to spend my play money. I also wanted to see what its like with my 1080 gtx with 4k. It was so cool just staring out the window at port olisar...
the shops can also be found in Olisar, near the airlocks in those lobbies with the huge windows and big colorful banners
update just got approved, notes the infinite loading screen problem.
Patch 2.4.1 PTU is now available.
We will be wiping the persistence database with this patch from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1.

I rode in a dudes freelancer and when we where finished I think he had a CTD cause the freelancer was flying max speed past the beacon towards the asteroid
So I jumped out the back just in the nick of time to watch it crash and explode, I preceded to retrieve the log anyway and the message was super fitting for my situation :v:
