I hope we can swap out flight computers / Bitching Betty(s) later on. I love the Betty (Barry?) in the Gladius; it's short and concise, and always comprehensible. 300i is okay but nothing great, I'd rather have a more synthetic (think mechwarrior) voice or a more human one. The Aurora can become downright incomprehensible in combat
I want a ship computer that speaks in Gilbert Gottfried's voice.

makes me wonder if they're going to make some sort of autopilot for stuff like this in the future. Would be easy to implement I guess.
makes me wonder if they're going to make some sort of autopilot for stuff like this in the future. Would be easy to implement I guess.
if 9/10 of the game's population is gonna be NPC, I sure hope there'll be autopilot for getting from point A to B without slamming an asteroid speaking of which, I saw an interesting request the other day, autopilot for people. Human players tend to run full force from point A to B in arccorp right now, which looks kinda goofy and would make the whole "not knowing who's a player and who's an NPC" thing a little harder to keep up so, the suggestion was, autopilot for people, in which they can set a destination and walk. While you're doing this, you could freely use mobiglass and otherwise pull your attention away when your attention isn't 100% needed
Has anyone got a hold of some good custom user.cfg files for 2.0 yet?
Has anyone got a hold of some good custom user.cfg files for 2.0 yet?
This is a modified version of the "Verified" 2.0 PTU user.cfg to reduce crashing. I added a few small things to improve perfomance
r_MultiGPU = 0 r_AntialiasingMode = 1 r_Fullscreen = 1 r_FullscreenPreemption = 1 r_FullscreenWindow = 0 r_VSync = 0 r_motionblur = 0 g_dof_ironsights = 0 g_radialblur = 0 r_useedgeAA = 0 r_fsaa = 0 ai_NavigationSystemMT = 1 e_ParticlesThread = 1 e_StatObjMergeUseThread = 1 gfx_loadtimethread = 1 p_num_threads = 1 sys_job_system_enable = 0 sys_main_CPU = 0 sys_physics_CPU = 1 sys_streaming_CPU = 2
Note that Vsync is normally set to " = 1". Bold + underline is the new stuff I added. I got a minor improvement when just walking around, and flight seemed to be a bit more stable. I also made a more extreme version which nixes a lot of effects, but I experienced a crash while using quantum jump. No idea if it's related.
e_shadows = 0 e_shadows_cast_view_dist_ratio = 1 r_colorgrading = 0 r_ssao = 0 r_reflecitons = 0 r_refraction = 0 e_particles = 0 r_usesoftparticles = 0 r_UseParticlesRefraction = 0 e_clouds = 0
I just added this to the bottom of the above cfg Most of these are carryover CryEngine 2 commands. I expect some may not work; shadows still seemed to be present, but kinda odd, not rendering in certain situations.
If you run into CPU problems/excessive crashing with Saber15's config your first stop should be to comment out or delete the lines in the second half of that first quote box, starting with "ai_NavigationSystemMT = 1". The CPU-threading stuff can mess with CIG's defaults for the engine. But definitely set motion blur off, that shit's out of control currently.

I'm using the one for an i5 CPU https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/294428/verified-solution-fix-for-crashes-in-ac-v1-3/p1 If using some other CPU, just copy+paste the bolded stuff from my cfg into the proper cfg
You can also turn DoF off with r_DepthOfField = 0 Lord knows I can't stand it when a game tries to go "hey, fuck you and your natural eyesight. FOCUS ON THIS NOT THAT JEEZ"

Hey guys, been out of the loop for awhile (a few months actually). What's the cheapest way to get the base Star Citizen game if you have no interest in playing alpha or beta? I have alpha but a friend wants to know and I can't give him a good answer.
only ways to get it grant alpha access anyways. $45 package minimum baseline best bang for buck here- https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-LN
only ways to get it grant alpha access anyways.
to clarify: alpha/beta access isn't a thing any more, everyone with a game package gets access to everything
Protip: Expect to die if you see anyone around Security Port Kareah and they see you. It's the purpose-built fps station. I did pick a guy up at Kareah after he got stranded there because someone blew his ship up, but I also had ship weapons to use on him if he tried to ruse me. He didn't -- but he got left behind halfway through my QD back to the station, causing him to be stranded 100,000km away from everything. RIP
of all the things, I really hope they implement proper party functionality soon. Trying super hard to get into a server with a friend and it's borking up hard. Beyond that, we really need better distance for the AR mode to view names, and location markers for teammates like we have for our ships
Having not had access to AC because my poor PC would go up in flames if I tried: HO-LEE SHIT. 2.0 alone is worth the 2k USD I've splurged. Anything else is a bonus. Grabbing a mate, loading up in my Connie, jetting off too a station, ripping ships to shreds then blasting the lucky suckers who got inside the station after I jump ship?! WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. I need to lie down.
CIG is working on party functionality and knows how important it is, but between holding back 2.0 just for party functionality and releasing it with temporarily shitty social functions, I think it's pretty sensible that they pushed forward. Plus, with the patch going live, the PTU's "join on your friends as fast as possible" method isn't even reliable enough to try because the population has gone from ~220k people with access to everyone has access - so servers are likely to fill immediately, making the follow-the-leader approach untenable. But it did kinda work before, even if the max number of fpers we got into one Port Olisar instance at once was two and a half (with one person crashing out on the loading screen consistently after the other two make it in). ArcCorp now has a 40-cap on the player count, though. Spawn elevator's like a fucking clown car. :v:
yeah I visited arc and dang the join-on-friends function KIND OF works, you can keep re-opening the menu and it might show 15/16 again but it only worked once out of the times we've tried, The rest, server fills while we're trying to load and it kicks you to main menu
So I parked my warlock right behind a connie that was trying to land at FPS station and engaged the EMP sequence. I sort of expected it to shut him down and fall onto the platform. What I didn't expect was the EMP blast SENDING HIM FLYING FACE FIRST INTO THE STATION, PANCAKING HIM So yeah, the warlock is a superweapon in any delicate situation. Handle with extreme care. Also appears to have next to no effect on NPC ships.
I got a sandy bridge i7 is my cpu shit for sc I know my gpu can handle it since its sli 780ti
I got a sandy bridge i7 is my cpu shit for sc I know my gpu can handle it since its sli 780ti
It's gonna struggle a bit but it won't be incredibly painful. SLI kind of isn't working yet, AFAIK, but it will, or should, eventually.
How do I fly without blacking out, the training drones gave me serious damage.
How do I fly without blacking out, the training drones gave me serious damage.
Slow down on those turns.
How do I fly without blacking out, the training drones gave me serious damage.
1: you don't have to be flying 100% full speed 2: rotate yourself often, so you make more left/right turns instead of nosing up/down because those will make you black out from lack of blood to head, or too much blood
how does the party system work? [editline]13th December 2015[/editline] more to the point how do you get into the same instance as someone?
we did it you guys
how does the party system work? [editline]13th December 2015[/editline] more to the point how do you get into the same instance as someone?
You have to be in the hangar/main menu at the same time as them, and be on each other's friends lists. One person joins Port Olisar or whatever, and then once they hit the Crusader loading screen, anyone else trying to join opens the elevator/universe menu and attempts to join the new instance entry that now has your buddy. It typically is already 16/16 by then, but you can close and reopen the menu until it frees up a slot.

I was gonna ask what happened today to end up with a huge spike of donations, but 2.0 DID go live, and we've had people able to test out the gladius, both may be tempting to all the freefliers who've been puttering around
I'm glad the free flight week has included the 2.0 release. I just tried it out for the first time. My experience involved surviving a Constellation crash.
