This new marine armour looks awesome.
No. Delta patching is a dangerous forbidden technique.
CIG confirmed for Adeptus Mechanicus.
[t]https://giant.gfycat.com/JubilantConventionalCarpenterant.gif[/t]
I feel like I've seen a type of helmet before from something else that opens and closes like that?
dead space
Dead Space helmets were the shit:
foldy helmets are pretty common sci fi coolstuff, but there's always a lack of sensible structure in how they operate, falling into michael bay transformers technogreeble territory. [t]http://orig09.deviantart.net/67a1/f/2013/046/5/4/dead_space_3__epic_issac_gif__updated__by_flawedpotential-d5utehq.gif[/t] (+forumaster's picture) (lost in space) [t]http://i.imgur.com/0DwDrge.gif[/t] I like that the SC one is still a full helmet, it's just protective layers uncovering the visor, and the visor tucking away
foldy helmets are pretty common sci fi coolstuff, but there's always a lack of sensible structure in how they operate, falling into michael bay transformers technogreeble territory
Oh man this has always bothered me. The folding helmets are always so needlessly complicated and impractical. The SC one actually looks decent for once (though even it could do with a little simplification).

I'm annoyed more than I should be by the fact that the lower parts of that visor appear to slide over each other without any visual indication of rails or grooves or even any mechanism that would allow it.

got a new computer, time to continue to play crusader at exactly the same 20fps as before :vs:
good video
I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but it's a pretty balanced and critical look at the whole situation (SC does not get a free ride). Halfway in, however, the topic turns to dumbshit. Said dumbshit has been having a meltdown on Twitter since.
I can agree with much of what he talks about in that video (Though I voted to keep funding and make the game bigger and better personally). And to be entirely honest, he's right about the official forums/reddit communities, they really need to chill out when someone has a legitimate complaint or criticism of CIG.

If the only cause for controversy surrounding SC is Derek Smart we don't really have to worry about it.
If the only cause for controversy surrounding SC is Derek Smart we don't really have to worry about it.
i said pointless drama drama about people making bad articles and cig responding like a idiot and they kept going till CIG wanted to sue them is not pointless drama

Mention any other game and suddenly everyone's out howling for blood. Star Citizen has potential and has a transparent dev process but is still making slow progress. The features we have don't feel fully integrated and working. E:D has less of a "potential" feeling to it, and has a not very clear dev process and still slow progress. But the features that are in there feel fully integrated, even if they're boring as fuck. I'll have to watch the video later since it seems interesting, but the whole "bwah you insulted my game or talked about the wrong one" shit is childish and annoying. If you can't objectively discuss such a topic, you probably need to invest yourself a bit more carefully and not get so emotionally tangled.
kinda had to be discussed tho as he is the cause behind most of the pointless drama in sc
I think he means DS has actually been up at arms over this video regarding the segments on him. He threaten 'to dolvak' the vid maker, though I'm not sure if he thought he was being clever since the message is now deleted. Dolvak was the SC reddit mod who wrote for INN that DS doxxed the shit out of because he didn't like the conflict of interest in 'fair' reddit moderation with an insider shill. Wasn't DS quoted like a week ago on the frontier forums saying he never doxxed anybody on reddit [editline]e[/editline] I think that quote came from here but his original post is deleted, all that's left is this quote of part of it. The post contained "At no time have I EVER doxxed anyone on Reddit. Not users. Not mods. Nobody.", and in the context of the remaining quote it's pretty clear he feels doxxing is a rose by another name so long as the information exists on the internet for him to find [t]http://i.imgur.com/XUpNOjt.png[/t] https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/259596-The-Star-Citizen-Thread-v5/page488?p=4297136&viewfull=1#post4297136 [editline]e[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/98ZhiOi.png[/t] I'm uh not sure you can just edit a youtube video? Did something get changed?

They'll get pissed off if you suddenly pop up and start praising the word of our lord Crash Robutts and how Star Citizen will save gaming, but are otherwise responsive to criticism aside from a handful of spacedads. Official forums for ED are another story entirely, but most official forums are shitholes anyway; Egosoft and Facepunch are the only really good ones I've been too.
I agree 100% with everything that MandaloreGaming said. And I admit that at times even I've acted like a rabid fanboy. And I love what he had to say about Derek in the end. Fucking rekt.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/98ZhiOi.png[/t] I'm uh not sure you can just edit a youtube video? Did something get changed?
He added several overlapping annotations to censor Derek's email address (even though that email address was publicly posted by Derek to his own forums and the LoD Steam forums in 2014 or earlier) after Derek flipped his shit over being "doxxed". He also added an annotation with the definition of stalking at the 29-minute mark right before showing a screenshot of a Reddit post documenting no less than 20 different incidents of Derek either toxically shitposting about Sandi or outright stalking/doxxing her.

[editline]8th August 2016[/editline] tbh im playing E:D to tide me over until SC reaches a mostly-complete state. The one criticism I really have to hit them hard for is how they priced the expansions, but otherwise its an excellent game to fill the void the space genre's always left in my heart. Shallow Space will be a blast once they finally push the beta, too
yeah, the subreddit is pretty chill but the forums are rabid to the point of sorta scaring me (how are those individuals irl?)
Like I said, official forums are shitholes. If you post on the SC forums that animations are too slow, you'll get dogpiled by people that say you should just go play Call of Duty if you want instant satisfaction and/or people spamming the word 'immersion' like it's going out of style.
If the only cause for controversy surrounding SC is Derek Smart we don't really have to worry about it.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/hVaxK0N.png[/t] Gamestar.de on SC's problems, last October. [t]https://i.imgur.com/0qwdcjL.jpg[/t] Mandalore's own words on what happened. DS filed a YouTube privacy strike against him before knowing what to complain about and had a meltdown on Twitter overnight, and then after watching the video in the morning he figured out what he wanted to complain about: not redacting his publicly-available email address (posted by DS himself to his Steam forums and elsewhere and still online). In other words, the usual.
Official forums for ED are another story entirely, but most official forums are shitholes anyway; Egosoft and Facepunch are the only really good ones I've been too.
Is there much activity on the Egosoft forums nowadays? I thought the reason things are generally civil there is just that it's a fairly sedate place in general, especially after Rebirth.
-snip-
As mentioned in the video, they held a poll and got an 88% vote for more funding and more scale. Personally i dont think they should have held the poll in the first place, democratic design is shitty, but its not like people arent getting what they asked for.
Does the ship selling thing really add complexity to the project? It would be more fitting if you were talking about the numerous stretchgoals IMO, those require actual significant work on the game mechanics from various sectors. Creating more ships however doesn't mobilize your entire workforce. Creating more assets is adding to the breadth of the project, not its depth, and I think the latter is more of an issue when it comes to SC.
