Why are you making shit up? I want people to be disappointed, that's the point. At least then they'll have a reality check.
I literally laughed at this. Man, come on. Why are you trying to make people be disappointed if the product is still in development (and far from ready).
Why are you making shit up? I want people to be disappointed, that's the point. At least then they'll have a reality check.
That's not what i was getting at. You should have just outright said "Gamescom is going to be disappointing, nothing will be shown". Instead you said it in a way that was so vague and unclear it seemed more like you only wanted to worry people into thinking something seriously bad was going to happen. What you said implied it could be anything. The only reason to word it like that would be either trolling or just not being confident enough to trust those sources and post something specific.
Also, doesn't seem like you're disapproving of DS harassment at all lol, as per your previous two posts.
Me telling people how I think what DS is doing is petty, vile and disgusting is not approval of him being harassed, but as I've said. Not surprised it happens.
Why are you making shit up? I want people to be disappointed, that's the point. At least then they'll have a reality check.
This is the heart of the issue. You don't care about the project, you just want people to be disappointed for some weird personal reason.
I read on the website that there's an exlusive star system for those who backed the game during that time. As someone who recently gotten interessted in the game, I can't can't have access to it, will it affect the game for me? Looks like there's a very large quantity of systems so it may just be a 0.5% difference. Are there other stuff like this that I should be aware of? I know nothing about the game.
Brace for a bit of an info dump, but give it a chance. This project pumps out tons of info every week, and the result is that information is usually hard for newcomers to find and answers are rarely small enough to fit into a Tweet. This is the information we know as of now, with the provision that decisions may change (while hopefully still fulfilling the intent of the stretch goal): The coordinates to the jump point leading to that system will only be preloaded into the navigation records of accounts that backed before the cutoff point, but those players will be able to transfer and sell the navigation data to others. It's not that you won't have access to it, but you'll have to earn it. Additionally, as of the last I heard, only eligible early backers (the pre-cutoff folks) may set their home hangar in that system, but supposedly this restriction is to wear off after a year(?). Stretch goals have promised that there will be 100-110 star systems in-game at launch (out of beta). Part of the devs' plans to provide frequent ongoing microcontent updates every week or two (rather than monolithic expansion releases every 3-6 months) is adding new systems; these systems will mostly be undiscovered, requiring explorers to use the jump point scanning mechanics (exact details still TBD because not implemented yet) to find them. If a player with the right exploration equipment navigates the wormhole safely and survives the trip back, that player can register the discovery with the NPC authorities and is granted the right to permanently name the star system in-game (within the bounds of good taste) and become a part of the game's lore. Because of this ongoing update scheme, who knows what the system count will look like in five or ten years. However, while I can't read the devs' minds, I've a feeling that at most we will be looking at many hundreds of systems, and maybe breaking a thousand near the game's end of life (if they start adding systems that are just lifeless resource wells in great quantities) at most. It's quite a bit smaller in scale than Elite or NMS' more-than-any-player-needs galaxies, but the systems are also hand-designed if not fully hand-crafted. As for other things that you should know that are exclusives you've "missed out" on, there's actually not really much at all that you won't be able to get in-game. It may be a pain in the ass but it's earnable. I only know of a very few specific things that are effectively never to be distributed again and either untradeable at all or unlikely to be traded away by their owners: - Golden Tickets, which were given to people who signed up on the teaser site before Star Citizen was officially announced - The Explorer-class MobiGlas, which is a visually different version of the MobiGlas wearable (it's your "pause"-menu HUD, basically) and comes preloaded with navigation data later backers don't get; but, like the backer-exclusive system's coordinates, this data can be traded and sold - A ship skin, woohoo - A few Takuetsu ship models (hangar decoration, not flyable ships) - A few other random hangar decorations like the towel for $42mil - The "Fooled!" Big Benny Noodles forum badge and a couple others (relating to backer era) but who cares - The Million Mile High Club is an exclusive little swanky speakeasy-style club (it's instanced per user like the hangar, not a public space) that was made available to 100 high-tier backers; they can invite their friends to see it. Aside from looking really nice it's literally nothing. TL;DR aside from some navigation data which you'll be able to buy and some decorations and the (temporary?) ability to set up your home in one star system, you miss out on nothing by not having already gotten on board. By the way, if it wasn't clear above, in Star Citizen, information is a resource that can be traded for money. I described how a player could name a star system with their discovery rights -- that player could also keep the information to themselves and extract resources from the system unchallenged...so long as nobody else discovered the jump point and made it back to report it first. This information could also be sold to other players who may bring in an organized mining operation to grab as much as they could with relative exclusivity. Info is a commodity in SC, and I think that's kind of cool.
Because then they'll start being less complacent and maybe actually either stop giving them money, or start asking where their money is going to. If enough people start doing that, maybe the project has a chance as people actually start acting with skepticism like they should.
So basically you've got a personal vendetta against Chris Roberts and CIG and are trying to sabotage their rep on FP using rumours. Thanks, that's all I wanted to know.
I never said something bad was gonna happen, I never implied something bad was gonna happen. The "bad" part you're making up entirely, I implied something was gonna happen, you're somehow making it seem like if I had info that there's going to be some sort of tragedy which I don't believe anybody thought. And you continue to make an argument by making shit up, that's not gonna fly.
So now you're claiming that those specific lines in a series of condescending posts claiming the game is a scam and your sources are reporting all this bad stuff about the game just happened to not be said in sarcastic way and you were actually saying you hope people enjoy gamescom in a serious manner. Sure.
STOP
This shit isn't about me and I'm starting to get sick of people trying to make it about me, my "weird personal reason" is that I hate blind fanaticism, and I hate liars, and this project has plenty of both of those. My goal, however, is that you all realize that you have the power to steer this whole thing in the right direction, and if you do maybe you'll get a game as a reward. There's isn't much to talk about Gamescom anyway, they're gonna have streams with 5 poor souls having to play the game in its current state 24/7, they're gonna have the Idris deck stand, but I think CIG has already commented on those.
Here, since you still don't get it, let me give you a nice high-school level assignment that you should understand. Please write a three paragraph essay explaining in detail why you think CIG is full of liars and that their project will fail. Please include at least three reliable sources in a works cited section below your response. Please follow MLA formatting. Until student Big Bang completes the assignment, I would like to ask everyone else to just calm down and wait for a proper response. It's clear where the issues lie between these two arguing sides, so just call a truce until sources are provided, where proper discussion can continue instead of baseless accusations and name-calling.
I'm not a mod so I can't boss people around but please stop responding to the bait, event log says he's been banned for a week for shitposting in the gmf. Gamescom is coming up. Let's enjoy the quiet while it lasts.
Jesus fuck I think im gonna need another bottle of jaeger after this
30 new posts? What can it be? Oh more DS shit.
I tought it was clear that it was a kickstarter game funded by the community and that it was clear that you're paying for an unfinished product and that you can't be refunded if the game ever failed and you just paid for a chance to see the game you payed for coming out. Derek smart just get nothing of that. Nope. he thinks a kickstarter means the game is complete and is another platform to preorder the game.
Actually due to the Kickstarter's TOS, any Kickstarter backers are technically allowed refunds if the product is not delivered as/when promised. However that only applies to Kickstarter backers (such as DS) and only for amounts given through KS. People who bought through CIG are pretty much screwed if the game never delivers.
my "weird personal reason" is that I hate blind fanaticism
You hate fanaticism but think we should give Derek Smart a chance? Last time you were in this thread I actually defended you from claims that you were just a DS mouthpiece put forward by thread regulars. I'm pretty sure now that I made a mistake and they were right about you the first time. You're defending blatant harassment, you're paraphrasing DS' blog, and you're even claiming to have "sources" even though you can't produce a shred of evidence. At this point you might as well just post links to DS' blog instead of posting man, because that's the only utility you're now providing. I feel bad for anyone who has serious gripes about this game, because now any time they try to discuss them they're going to have to go through the anti-Derek grill set up everywhere that people seriously talk about this game. And people like you are a big part of the reason why that's happening.
Finally got around to trying PTU 2.5.0, got into my Reliant for the first time for a spin after taking a quick tour around Olisar. The amount of clear glass around you in vertical mode is wonderful. First thing that happened was I somehow broke it and was unable to get into Cruise mode, but on the upside I had infinite afterburner. I also really had trouble getting it to transform, with tapping or holding n (the supposed keybind) doing nothing most of the time. Managed to fix it somehow while in the Yela belt. After turning off a comm relay and preparing to suicide so I could respawn at GrimHex and take a look around there, the server instance crashed out. More tomorrow or so. I was getting between 10-20fps on Crusader. My hangar was nice and zippy, though. Couldn't spawn anything on the interaction nodes and just got a distant, blurry, out of focus mobiglas, though. That might be because of PTU, though, and I haven't read the full PTU notes/searched the Issue Council to see if it's a known issue. 2.5.0 also has a new dynamic combat theme in Crusader, from Pedro Camacho's recent full-orchestra recording sessions. The new handcannon in PTU 2.5.0 is fucking savage.

That's incredibly generic sounding. :unimpressed:
Yeah I dunno if I care for that theme honestly. It needs a little more kick to it I feel.
Speaking of music, is it only going to be orchestral stuff? Sometimes I think electronic ambient can have a better feel to it, for instance the soundtrack of the X series is top notch IMO.
Speaking of music, is it only going to be orchestral stuff? Also, even if it's orchestral anime, it doesn't mean soundtrack is orchestral. Why would you think that? [editline]15th August 2016[/editline] Of course the songs they play are, but whatever. Orchestral is gud. EDIT: This post doesn't belong here, but i'm leaving it here anyway because snipping is for weak. I'm gonna take this like a man.
That's incredibly generic sounding. :unimpressed:
I agree. But it's dynamic music, so it'll come and go as the game demands. Really it's just a "make current situation more exciting" music, and not made for the sake of being a good musical piece. Maybe that part at the end will play if the game thinks you've basically wrapped up a fight.

Some parts of it are fine but overall it lacks any sort of proper emotion or memorable parts.
It doesn't do a very good job at that, though. Some parts of it are fine but overall it lacks any sort of proper emotion or memorable parts.
That's what I'm trying to tell you. It isn't meant to a whole, it's for the dynamic music. Dynamic music can't have memorable parts because it needs to transition quickly and effortlessly. That track is basically ambience music but for combat.
a good orchestral backing can add so much. Lately when I play AC or get into scraps I've found a good handful of songs from assassin's creed: black flag are really strong. Wildstar also had a heavily stylized future setting but had a solid score
So, a random thought: In the lore, 30th-century medical science has advanced to the point that natural human lifespans are roughly 150 years, and as far as I can tell you're granted fairly "normal-adult" levels of productivity until the last decade or two when shit falls downhill quickly because we still haven't mastered control over aging and death. I'm interested in seeing how the writers and designers put forth a vision of a society where you're able to get your education/training/apprenticeship years out of the way and go off and establish a name for yourself, and if you don't want to you don't have to worry about settling down and having kids until you're 40, 50, 60. Maybe I'm three years late on this one but this seems to be an aspect of the lore nobody pays attention to, but if the writers are on the ball they will not have missed either this or the opportunity to make hay of it. Unrelated, my starmap arrived a few days back in a nice solid sealed shipping tube, good shit :ok: [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/4fmw0n9f16yxyr/source/Starmap-Poster.jpg[/t] Anyone who backed for a tier with a physical collectors box in the original Kickstarter era gets a map folded in the box and doesn't need to purchase one separately (but their map is included in their box set and isn't shipping now). And in case anyone missed out and wants a physical poster of the starmap as of launch, they have some in stock. Reminder that the map will quickly become obsolete as undiscovered systems are added and found.
tbh 90% of film scorers use the same drums library and I'm guilty of the very same lol. It can sound generic if you don't do enough work to post process it and clean it up, imo. It works, doesn't sound bad, and since it has loop menus that are varied enough and easy to layer its good for the sort of director/person who drops projects on you suddenly. Or for procrastination. Not that I, or anyone in CIG, would know about that, of course. [editline]edit[/editline] -snip i need to stop thinking about project management, my boss is getting to me-
I just want the jukebox to work again so I can start playing my all time favourite soundtrack stuff in my hangar, such as this: Though I do enjoy the nice score that plays when aimlessly flying, gives a nice sense of just crusing along. Also, dont exit a Reliant when its vertical, easy mistake!
If anyone's interested I can talk about scoring for games/films more, its pretty tough and dynamic music is the hardest. I write articles primarily focusing on writing dance music for $ (not very much money though), but I've scored one itty bitty film and have played with trying to do this sort of thing lately. in short, the goal is rarely to make a good musical piece. deadlines are tense, demands can be vague and unhelpful, and the pay is shit anyways. loops, loops everywhere. things get samey because the high-end sample library market is narrow enough, and is even more narrow for electronic sounding stuff that still sounds professional.
