Huh, now that you point it out, yeah. Still 30 stations? Things are gonna get really noticeable unless they throw in a couple custom areas/rooms with every station. Also holy fuck is the Terrapin expensive. 195 bucks? That overshot my upper estimates by a load. So much for being the last "starter" ship. And why does it have S2 power plant and shields? Wasn't it supposed to have "the strongest shields in its class" and "a significant portion of its power" dedicated to them?
It's not a starter ship anymore. The concept was retooled. It lost the starter ship competition, so they looked at where its role could be positioned instead. It's basically a low-cargo-capacity answer to the Freelancer or a smaller version of the multipurpose Connie. Never trust the stats, make decisions to pledge on described role, not posted stats.
I realize it's a moot argument at this point since we all know the pricing is pretty much whatever CIG feels like, but I feel like they missed a damn good opportunity to make it competitively matched to the Freelancer. Tankier, but loses the weapon options. Has more utility, but sacrifices the cargo space. They're about the same size ship IIRC, so it just made sense in my head.
I agree it's more comparable to the lancer than anything else. should be $150 though, the freelancer is pretty underpriced now for its size and power
I would just point to the 5 stations we already have; olisar, kareah, derelict, repair place and the comm satellite thingy they're all pretty samey but there's enough variation that you can tell the difference. they can't make entire new systems for every station but that doesn't mean you'll be seeing the exact same station copy pasted over and over
It's going to be the same as Freelancer. The big important planets and locations will have unique art, and then there's going to be a bunch of generic stations everywhere else populating the world with little unique decorations here and there to try and add variation. All that can be handwaved as simply mass produced space stations being the cheapest way to do things and honestly that's fine. I cannot imagine it being any other way and this game getting released in this decade.

I mean, what kind of sick fucks would keep that abortion of a G36 in game this whole time? On a more serious note, do they/will they have something to randomize the numbers on ships? At 0:19 in the Argo video it has F2207 on one of the landing gear in a manner that looks like a tail or serial number. Just curious, because it would be weird if that was the same on every ship.

Ship customization is a feature coming down the line, I'd presume ship designations will have some relevance. I'm really hoping for larger ships, when you name the ship it's written on the ship as well

Seeing the name of every ship written on its side was one of the little things that added so much character to Freespace.
I like how they brought the freelancer to a full and complete stop before releasing the dragonfly, as if they knew for certain it would go tits up if they did it while moving.
I haven't played the PTU yet but I noticed in the presentation you have an oxygen bar when in EVA. Do NPCs have it too? Does that mean they die if they run out? For example, instead of boarding the Starfarer like they did, could they have blocked the entrance with their ship and wait for the bad guys to die?

It's one of those things I would expect to happen eventually when more important stuff is nailed down.

So I wouldn't be surprised if this gets asked every day here and I'm sorry if people are sick of answering it but... as someone who has always been interested in SC but been keeping myself in the dark so as to not get overhyped, I feel like I need to ask... What is the core gameplay loop in this game? What would I do in a session of Star Citizen? The Gamescom demo showed you going to a quest giver and taking on a quest. Is that what the majority of the game is? Are there also randomly generated tasks? Obviously there's missions to go and fight dudes in space, but it seems like I can just play as a space-trucker if I wanted to by getting a transport ship. What's the like? I really dig the look of the Reclaimer, and that's a salvage ship, so if I had that would I actually get missions to salvage shipwrecks? I saw there's a "news van" on the site, but I kinda doubt you can actually BE a news van. I know I'm super out of the loop so I'm sorry if this is just a bunch of dumb questions that you're sick of hearing... But I still don't really know what you DO in this game- not because I feel like there's too little, but because too much seems possible- and I'm having trouble finding concrete answers.

But to put it bluntly, SC is supposed to let you do generally whatever you want. If you want to fight, travel and explore, or make money trading. You should be able to do that in SC. Go solo, or join an Organization, and work toward a bigger goal. They plan to put in mechanics like salvaging, transport, emergency services, mining, and research in at some point. But there hasn't been much shown on how that's going to end up. In 3.0, looks like the basics of trading, bounty hunting, and piracy will be in. Currently in 2.5, fight AI pirates at mission points, you can kill players to gain infamy, kill wanted people for credits, or reactivate beacons.
http://imgur.com/a/7ACPd i've been out of the loop, wtf is this? is there a good reason for them to do that or is it just cringy whiteknighting for no real reason
I assume it has to do with when Sandi left twitter due to harassment.

But I still don't really know what you DO in this game- not because I feel like there's too little, but because too much seems possible- and I'm having trouble finding concrete answers.
The game is an MMO, so underneath the hood you are still looking at a core loop that says "player logs on, chooses to do something, does it, is rewarded with incremental progression if successful". The devil is in the details, because instead of walking around looking for people with golden !s over their heads, things are supposed to be a bit more organic -- you overhear two NPCs talking about a valuable shipment of goods being transported from point A to B in lawless space, and since you're an outlaw this prompts a mission hook to go waylay that convoy and steal their shit. Or you receive a distress call while out in space, and as a goody two-shoes mercenary type, you decide to go investigate it -- it could be a player, it could be a random AI being attacked by a player or AI, or it could be the beginning of a mission and when you show up you find a wreckage and have to scan the ship's black box to find out what happened and where the attackers went. Or, as a hauler, you log in and decide to take that mission to haul 200 tons of turnips from system A to system F, and you need to hire some escorts because of definite pirate activity. There are intended to be many non-combat careers, including hauling, salvaging, search & rescue, ship repair, exploration, science, passenger transport crew (the design docs for the Genesis Starliner passenger vessel unironically include a drinks-pouring-and-serving minigame where you tend to the passengers' needs), mining, and, yes, even being a news van. On the topic of the news van specifically, it's unclear on exactly how it'll be handled because it's not implemented yet, but the intentions for the news van is that you will have a camera attached to the ship that can be panned/zoomed/etc. by the co-pilot (or a third crewman in the back) to focus on things happening nearby, like a camera vehicle. This camera feed is then intended to be streamed, either outside of the game (it's a fancy interface to Twitch/etc.) or inside the game on bar TV screens/etc. Consider a player-organized race being filmed live and streamed to video surfaces elsewhere in the game -- with streaming technology being what it is, this is literally possible. Or consider a fairly large battle between two player corporations or something being streamed, bringing other players "live on the scene" footage. I'm waiting to see just what they do with the news van functionality since I'm skeptical that it'll actually work in a sensible way, but I'm holding onto an upgrade token to turn my Reliant Kore into a news van Reliant just in case. The Reclaimer is specifically designed to salvage ships, and THE CLAWWW is intended to grab and crush ships for salvaging. You would be offered missions/opportunities to salvage wrecks, yes, and probably would be in demand from player groups (if they didn't have their own) to clean up after any major battles (before the instance shuts down and clears the wreckage). The game should support every career offered. In theory, players will be able to create their own missions for others to fulfill, too. Let's say I'm a hauler taking those turnips to Point Dangerfuck, and there are definitely player pirates ambushing convoys heading that way. I should be able to create my own missions for bounty hunters/mercs to be my escort and defend me on my way. Exactly how this is supposed to work as a direct in-game function is still majorly TBA. In a session of Star Citizen, you should be able to do what you want. This includes gathering your friends together, getting drunk IRL, and all buying tickets on a Genesis Starliner to XYZ planet, and then all of you board it and be drunken tourists for the night, no need to even get into your own space ships.
http://imgur.com/a/7ACPd i've been out of the loop, wtf is this? is there a good reason for them to do that or is it just cringy whiteknighting for no real reason
[sp]Dumb Shit[/sp] kicked his harassment campaign against Sandi into overdrive (if you laughed at [sp]tickle jokes[/sp] lately you unwittingly joined in). Multiple German gaming publications wrote about it and people showed their support both on social media and at Gamescom as seen in the photos. It's cringy but only 1/50th as awful as the shit Sandi's had to deal with.
Just logged about 6 hours of flight in my Freelancer, after about a year of not really checking into Star Citizen. WOW! The framerate sure sucks but its playable and fun, definitely hope everything comes out on time/not too late. Game sure is looking promising! My father owns the MIS version, hopefully they'll put that up for sale again because I love the Lancer.
i havent really been following development for a while in hopes that one day i'll just be surprised at a "game is released!!" news article, so i dont know what the tickle jokes are also why are you spoilering and calling him dumb shit, that's very silly [sp]and a bit cringy[/sp] [editline]20th August 2016[/editline] also derek is a twat, i really wish he would just stop with his stupid antics, he acts like some dumb teenager
Basically, having no more ammo to use against Star Citizen and desperately clutching at straws as his narrative crumbles around him, he's running a smear campaign against Sandi, claiming she used to be a porn actress because there's a woman who barely resembles her in some tickle porn video on Pornhub. I didn't know about this until lately either. But apparently people have been giving her so much shit about it on Twitter that she recently announced she'd be withdrawing from social media due to the harassment. So you see, Shart has earned his cringy monikers, having won his place among the lowest form of human scum. BTW he also insinuated she was an escort.
I spoiler his name because some people don't want to hear about it, plus the thread title is already ruining livers. Legend also holds that if you say his name three times, he appears, because he unironically has Google Alerts running for mentions of his name. Long story short DS has been proving exactly how awful a person he is, especially when he plays the victim card as soon as people give him an inch of shit for things he's actively doing. As a quick aside since the topic got mentioned, allegedly the Gamescom show stole some hearts and minds on SA away from Derek's crusade. :v: How about we go back to talking about SC instead of talking about an ex-developer who can't do anything but shout at clouds now? Chris sat down with BNB and Captain Richard during today's Gamescom streaming.
god damn, what an ass, he's gone beyond just calling sc a scam on twitter huh [editline]20th August 2016[/editline] there's a few surprisingly positive posts on the thread, but maybe it's from non-regulars who don't really go to the thread much still lots of posts making fun of roberts/derek/sc
Sadly he's been stalking and harassing the Roberts family for a while now.
20% sub discount off an already discounted pack of Terrapin/Carrack/Dragonfly + another game package and LTI?! Sold!
By the way, the raffles on the twitch stream tomorrow, according to Lando, are all Terrapins
Sadly he's been stalking and harassing the Roberts family for a while now.
He posted the C&D he got from the Roberts family last September. Aside from leaving their kids alone (which I will give him the bare minimum of credit for doing), he basically ignored every word of it. Also, the video is on PornHub likely thanks to goons who dug it up. It's pretty delicious seeing Derek and his posse claim the moral high ground: [t]http://www.digitiser2000.com/uploads/4/0/6/6/40667199/2626909_orig.jpg[/t] 2016 Derek clutches at pearls while ~1997 Derek claims credit for designing this ad (before it was found to violate UK advertising standards, and then suddenly it was all marketing's doing) specifically so he could creep on the model while she was naked on the shoot (Derek was probably nowhere near the shoot, at minimum).
still lots of posts making fun of roberts/derek/sc
Well, I mean, it's the SC thread on SA - it's like saying water makes you wet. Olisar is getting renovations soon. [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/4xlgl3vhu9gfer/source/Shopping_district_lobby_moodshot.jpg[/t] This is concept art but the filename suggests it's the kind of mood they're going for in the shopping section of the station. [editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
It's going to be the same as Freelancer. [t]https://i.imgur.com/WItcsde.jpg[/t] Area 18's center square is built entirely out of a generic set of architectural parts with a few unique props (the Area 18 gearball and the massive ArcCorp tower behind it). These same building pieces will be reused with different colour/lighting schemes and unique props for the other planets in the Stanton system, which should be coming online with 3.0. This is early concept work, but they've stuck with the general plan as far as we know: [t]http://media.fyre.co/HPYgEXGRu4kKa89a7Yyw_Stanton-PlanetVariations01%5B1%5D.jpg[/t] Four planets, one architecture set, four very different outcomes. Here's our first look at the LZ on Hurston, the stripmined industrial revolution nightmare planet in the Stanton system: [t]http://www.starcitizenfrance.fr/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/planete-hurston-star-citizen-lorville.jpg[/t] This month's Jump Point is out, with a behind-the-scenes on GrimHex, a lore profile on GrimHex, an article about female characters and character customization, and a corporate profile on the manufacturer of the Argo shuttles.
nevermind i got it now
I don't recall that problem ever being brought up here, myself, but hopefully it can be figured out. Delete the contents of Star Citizen\Patcher\config\ and restart the launcher. Also log into RSI.com in the browser and make sure it works. These would be the starting points. Also, in RSI.com, make sure you don't have any 2-factor authentication set up (unless you've set it up yourself). If things are still not working, consider setting up 2FA and hope that fixes it.
also, when you sign you use the community moniker right? or is it the handle?
Neither of those, actually. There is a login id you should have setup to use.
a woman who barely resembles her in some tickle porn video on Pornhub
Not implying it matters who does and doesn't do tickle porn, but that woman is actually Sandi.
i just downloaded the launcher yesterday and when i try to log in, i get "mismatch between header and cookie session id." i looked for other fixes and many other people got the same problem, but the fixes had no effect. this is my first time trying star citizen and i'd really hate to miss it because the trial ends in 2 days. perhaps you'd know how to fix this problem? also, when you sign you use the community moniker right? or is it the handle?
Clearing my browser's cache/cookies for the website fixed it for me
Neither of those, actually. There is a login id you should have setup to use.
Furthermore, your Login ID is never public; anyone who wants to find your profile will use your moniker or handle, but never your Login ID unless you're contacting CS or something. Nobody ever needs to know it, and that's an extra little layer of security to keep your account from getting brute-forced. Now there's 2FA, as well.
