Star Citizen Megathread - Star Marine isn't doomed after all!
It changes according to the distance. A square or circle lead is when you're in firing range but at the upper half (give or take?) of the weapon's range. Your box/circle reticle will likely cover the entire targeting reticle and ship - it's impossible to make called shots.
As you get closer, the reticle changes to a crosshairs as you are now close enough to make called shots - I tend to aim for a Scythe's engines in VS, for example, when I'm close enough for crosshair reticles.
Afraid this isn't quite right, Elix. The reason he's got two reticles, a circle and square, is because he has two types of weapons on his ship - One type has faster projectiles than the other, and the two indicators are supposed to show the predicted impact points of each set. They turn into a circle with crosshairs when your angle of momentum is just right that they strike at more or less the same point (I believe the ship's computer compensates for any minor difference at this point) and shows that you can bring all of your weapons to bear on your target at the same time. If you're using a set of weapons with identical projectile speeds (e.g. my Hornet with its four Badger repeaters and two Bulldog repeaters) then you never even see the crosshair circle - I just get a square targeting reticle at any range.

Makes sense, though I don't like it. I prefer the circle + square.
Is there any way to set a player to be 'hostile' on my HUD? Dueling players is a serious PITA because the IFF sets them as blue friendlies, making it impossible to really tell where my crosshair is and where the lead indicators are.

I actually wrote that the square and circle reticles are for different weapons with different firing ranges and projectile speeds, and then I edited it out of my post because I had a moment of doubt about what AC was doing with the distant reticles now (having only monoboated since 1.2 in the infrequent times I've been in AC for dogfighting).
I was getting the crosshair reticle repeatedly in Vanduul Swarm yesterday in my REC'd SH with quad Badgers and dual Bulldogs on the canard, Arch, so I don't know that your theory is 100% accurate either. And I continued to get them after my canard turret was destroyed, leaving me with only four Badgers.
So whenever I spawn my Gladius, the landing gear is up and i cant enter it.
Also, when i tried to use it in AC, it was stripped of all weapons/thrusters. Put it all back together, which is hard now that a load of the items are invisible in the hangars holo-menu.
Try to fly it again but it wont budge, says overheating and low power and wont budge, just rolls around in space.
Is there a way to reset your ships loadouts?
so apparently devs are aware that turrets are relatively useless but have no plans whatsoever of reworking them (because they have already been reworked several times)
:l
I'm sure it's a later-on thing, just like how the devs are aware that mouse+gimbal > any HOTAS but control scheme balancing is on hold until beta because there's no point in redoing it repeatedly while everything else about the flight model isn't nailed down.

Go into the SC folder, Public, USER. Delete (username)_inventory.xml, restart the client.

That's not what I remember the devs saying. That's what I just saw a random commenter on Reddit saying. Don't believe everything you read.
Somehow the public 2.0 runs a lot worse than the PTU. Even on medium I get horrible FPS.
Not sure if it is because I copied the PTU over to public.
I deleted the user configs but nothing changed.

Probably because performance seems to depend on how many people are in the instance, and in the PTU matchmaking was so fucked (and the crashes so frequent) it was concievable that you would be alone in an instance while everyone else was unable to connect. Instances are guaranteed to be almost full if not full now that the full backer population has access and matchmaking and client stability are partially unfucked.
Everything's CPU-bound right now, graphics don't seem to matter. I get the same performance on Low as I get on Very High (with a few exceptions when the lighting's intensive).

I got the same issue, but I think that it affects a majority of people right now.
Just gotta wait for the upcoming patches.

nah he's spot on, bulldogs and badgers have different speeds
nah he's spot on, bulldogs and badgers have different speeds
My SH had one square reticle that turned into one crosshairs reticle at close range, both with all weapons intact and with the nose canard with the S1s destroyed.
Soooooooo, make sense of that.
Probably a bug or something with it not recognizing the missing guns.
What archangel said is right and how the system works. It shows 2 pips when you have guns of different velocities and shows just one when they overlap or get close to overlapping.
Is there a fatigue system? After a long fight in Olisar it seemed like I was blacking out after even fairly minor turns.
[editline]14th December 2015[/editline]
I spawn into Olisar and see this:

It's where everything goes to die.

He has 3 types of weapons. CF-117, CF-007, and M4A. All three have different velocities and ranges. However, both CF weapons have very similar velocities so their lead markers usually get merged into a circle, but then you see the circle with a square. The square is the M4As which are slower than the CF series.
:mysterysolved:
This game looks freakin' amazing.
Might do a clip of the Retaliator as well.

-snip should've read the fucking instructions-
And all of the sudden the bug that made me fall through the floor on any ship is gone, so I can finally take a nap in my Aurora LN while cruising at breakneck speeds in a collision course with Olisar.
Geee, I wounder why I denied your application the first time if you couldn't follow the simplest of instructions.
spooky
holy shit i want the game this video was trying to be.

Ugh
This makes me want the game bad
But lets be honest I should probably wait until I don't need a super computer bad to play it and maybe until the rift is out and I could use it for that (hypothetically).
Star Citizen is not going to get good VR support for a very long time.
I have my own super spooky story of Covalex the first time going there. I didn't know what was supposed to happen so it was awesome and I started to think the place was haunted because of some crazy shit that was going on.
It's kind of a dumb story to tell now that everybody knows what's really supposed to happen, but still it was a hopeful glimpse of what missions and exporation encounters in Star Citizen could be like in the final game. It's like the logical progression of finding wreckages in stranges places in Freelancer. I loved how you could show info on them and it would give you some backstory to where the ship came from. It was really cool and added a lot to the universe.
At least the first time you see them, anyway.

I feel like this isn't ever going to be released.
I so wanted a space horror game with 70s futuretech theme.

Like that Alien game that came out?

Good old Manzes, shitposting nonsensically about Star Citizen yet again.
I have no idea what a Manzes is but I disagree with nothing in that article.
Like that Alien game that came out?
Eehh, that didn't have the same jive with me.
I mean shit, you got little CRT robots crawling around and everything uses space floppy disks and the nightvision scope has that absolutely unnerving slow refresh rate.
