What did they do to AC? I used to have a blast playing Vanduul swarm and now I load it up the vanduul just sit their with their thumbs up their butts, is this just a bug or did they purposely disable the AI in vanduul swarm?
That may be related to the latest episode of Bugsmashers.
BTW here's the latest episode of Bugsmashers, about a bug involving desync because the client receives packets for a respawned ship it thinks is still dead.

And while I'm at it, here's AtV.

Top stuff. Patch notes mention some stability fixes, I really hope this will let me consistently complete missions now.

By the way, does anyone have a proper explanation to how system power works in the Aurora? Does shifting the power allocation reticule actually have any significant impact? I can't figure out the shields either, the other ships had a management screen dedicated to shields but I can't find such in the Aurora cockpit.
Argo Concept Sale's also up.
It's a neat little ship, but I don't think we'll start getting much use out of it until 3.0 or thereabouts.
The Reliant Kore flight-ready sale is on, and apparently the Reliant is not a standard store ship, as the page says the sale ends on the 29th.
The Kore is also in the REC store for 6500 REC. The two Argos are both in there as well.
This week's lore post, btw, is a transcript from a Senate argument over bringing financial accountability to the SynthWorld. Concerningly, we don't get to see the results of the vote.

So apparently the Terrapin used to look pretty much like a small scale Cobra knock off :v:
So, a few months back on RtV the community team told a story about how one of their concept artists handed them a concept, and Chris went through his usual feedback process with the artist, and once they'd settled on a look and decided on the design for the concept artist to start going ahead begin the process of making the sale art... they realized they'd inadvertently copied an Elite: Dangerous ship almost exactly and had to start over. :v:
I bet it's that incarnation of the Terrapin concept.
thinking about getting Star Citizen, would you guys recommend getting the Squadron 45 bundle with it? or just the the regular game without it for cheaper?
thinking about getting Star Citizen, would you guys recommend getting the Squadron 45 bundle with it? or just the the regular game without it for cheaper?
Depends what you're after. If you're after an awesome singleplayer campaign which'll likely be out sooner than the Persistent Universe, get Squadron 42. If you're willing to wait an indeterminate amount of time until Star Citizen's PU is done and have no interest in S42, don't.
Either way it's 15 extra bucks to add SQ42 onto whatever game package you decide to get if you just want the multiplayer stuff at first.

It looks like if the Air Force told NASA to make a space fighter. I hope we get a lot more "conventional" looking ships, I love the kind of militarized space shuttle aesthetic.

They never did that. They were pretty up front that shit like planetary landings would be in expansion packs because they didn't have the budget for them without additional funding.
Anyone else have their patcher stuck at 'updating'?

Been like this for hours after I finished downloading the update.
Oh boy it's another "let's argue about how shit your favorite flight model is" thread. I love these.
While I think Star Citizen's flight model is very impressive for a lot of technical reasons, I still think it looks and feels like crap. Because of how this game was designed, I don't think they will ever get away from that. At the end of the day, I want something that looks and feels good and makes for a good game over an impressive tech demo.
My favorite George Lucasism so elegantly describes what I feel about the game's flight model that I think it's kind of beautiful. It was stylistically designed to be that way and they can't undo that, but they can diminish the effects of it.

Frontier was up-front that there would be paid DLC, and everyone expected it. The pricing structure, however, was not expected.

Restart the launcher, make sure the launcher is run as admin?

PLZ NO

oh, I can live with this.
Just noticed this hanging around not being answered.

The power triangle allocates power between your weapons, shields, and engines. On legacy ships like the Aurora it kind of seems useless, but on new multicrew ships like the Connie it definitely is instrumented.
The Aurora's shield management is done using the numpad (8 forward, 2 back, 5 to reset to equilibrium), and other ships (with more than two projectors, using other numpad buttons) can also use the same binds. However, the shield display on the HUD can be borked, so you may not be able to tell whether you are focusing shields to the front or back (if you've changed shield balance, it doesn't just randomly do it on its own).
The point of controlling shield directional facing is, surprise, to make the shield more resilient against enemy fire from a given direction. In multicrew ships, it'll be fairly critical for shield projection to be actively managed to maintain the best defense against incoming fire. In the Aurora you're kind of limited to front and back.
The missing items from the HUD business is very much temporary, as things are going through a transition in that respect. I haven't flown an Aurora too recently so I don't know exactly what's going on with the Aurora's specific cockpit, but this is a general transition occurring across a number of ships.
So for the ships with only front and back shields, does that mean there's a gap in the middle or do they overlap and cover the whole ship?
So for the ships with only front and back shields, does that mean there's a gap in the middle or do they overlap and cover the whole ship?
They cover the whole ship, but if you take hits and your shield goes down on one end, now you are missing an entire hemisphere of shield around you.
On the other hand, if you're in a Hornet with four shield projectors and one goes down, you're only out 25% of your shield coverage.
Shield projection is eventually supposed to change on the component level, where instead of one big projector for a shield face, you wll sometimes have multiple smaller projectors that individually add up to the same as the originally-spec'd larger one but have flexibility and semi-redundancy where the single projector is either working or not. However, as far as I understand it, this is something that'd be handled automatically by the game, at least on small ships like the Aurora where there isn't a dedicated shield tactician in charge of managing power and facing. It's also possible that this idea won't make it through the compiler, or that it won't really have much visible effect in the HUD but still is working behind the scenes, in much the same way that IFCS does very complex math every time you tell the ship to change directions, but in terms of what's shown to the player it's simplified down to the critical info the pilot needs on the HUD for flight attitude/speed/etc.

My stepbrothers has gotten real interrested in this. So what, we can gang up with ships and work togheter, and save for a larger multi-crew ship and constantly work togheter on that one? I guess there's a teamwork reward system in this? Or what's planned.
Can we just call him "Dick Small" from now on?

If anyone has the same problem, 'Starcitizen.exe' was running in the background even with the launcher closed and after ending the task the launcher worked as normal.
If anyone uses the Warden I think the M7A that's been made available in the REC store is the best weapon for the under-mount, it matches the nose guns pretty closely so you can land hits on a target at the same time using both.
I was wondering if there was any ships besides the Starfarer that could actually fit the thing myself. Good to know.

Nothing has been announced regarding the ingame systems for working together as a crew. Only info released is that there will be multi-crew ships, but no clarification on what the crew will do.

Multi-crew functionality is already in the game...
It isn't fully fleshed out yet, but the copilot can manage power distribution, and there are turret gunners. Other roles will appear as other systems are added to the game to support them; so you can have a guy who handles the cargo, a guy who runs the snub fighter, a few guys to defend the ship from boarders, and more. There will also be engineers who can perform in flight repairs and tune the ship's systems.
