Oh wow was surprised at the fact that the Aegis Warden is leading was hoping the Super Hornet would be up front

60fps Video of the new "Vision Stabilisation" in action. Looks pretty damn good, also shows new Olisar look and inside Dumpers Depot! Unfortunately cant see how to grab the video URL to embed :(
CIG's Vimeo uploads aren't intended to be embeddable. [del]But you still can do it, it's just slightly messy.[/del]

Never mind, it seems like the required token in the URL is a limited time thing or something to prevent embeds. Just go see it at the link above. :v:
What is vision stabilisation supposed to be? Isn't optimal control raw input and no smoothing? The shooting looks really solid and fun though.
Considering the camera is currently fixed to your eyes without vision stabilization, it results in a kind of herky-jerky camera at times. I'm not sure I want that much smoothing, but I'd call it an improvement over what we have.
i think i heard something

Don't worry, you're not alone. I hear stuff all the time.

Holy crap, I hope this works as advertised because this looks like a legit shooter and not Operation Flashpoint in space. That is a night and day difference if I ever saw one.
what the fuck, that looks really good. did cig really make it?
Can't really see who else would have made it?
Also note the "Blood Loss Detected" pop-up in the lower right corner of the HUD. Something that the "PRESS "H" TO HEAL!" prompt will fix? (Possibly, as I assume that was some Star Marine footage) or something you'll need medical aid for?

Dude's getting shot the fuck up; he goes into red on practically everywhere but one leg and his nutsack over the course of the shooting sequence. The model colouration on the HUD to indicate damage is already live, but bleeding notifications to confirm hits and the heal prompt are new.

rip automerge
that was super smooth but I'm going to bet it was played with a controller like many of their demos, always weird to see that given we're 100% pc oriented but makes sense for presentation's sake. Reminded of all those fancy E3 demos where they turn the sensitivity so far down that the camera gently glides around all cinematically but doesn't indicate how gameplay will pan out at all, and I can definitely say I won't enjoy that much drag and glide if I'm FPSing with mouse control. Cool to see it's not the janky old camera-glued-to-the-head nonsense in the least

Yeah they always use controllers for presentations. Ideal mouse behavior would be camera position smoothing (your eyes do this irl), but 100% raw angle changes with no smoothing.
Whose footprints are these?
Well, I finally caved and bought the game. Really excited about this, actually.

while I'm a huge fan of having separate manufacturer styles and I think it's still unique enough on its own, I'm also loving the fact it's hitting a lot of good notes from aegis's general aesthetic as well
I like how they made it not shit.

u bes be careful, them words are fighting words
It really looks like CIG has decided, now that the art assets are set in stone for each manufacturer, to get the ships some semblance of consistency.
Also cutlass in now entering rework stage to bring it to Drake level, aka the herald and caterpillar. Dev whos gonna do it is asking for feedback in reddit
The F7A is what the Hornet would look like if it was designed today, and wasn't one of the first ships made for the game. So much has changed about the art style of the game since the GDC demo 4 years ago. The ships they're putting out now are much more consistent and designed than the first batch of ships.
But they aren't planning on selling the F7A in the pledge store? It's for SQ42.
There's a fuckton of ambiguity as to whether or not the people who bought the F7A bodykits for F7Cs will get a choice between the old and new designs, that's something CIG needs to clarify (but probably hasn't decided yet in the first place) sooner or later. But as I understand it, the new F7A design is not for sale.
Remember, CIG has had this idea for years that ships will have an "annual models" thing going on the way cars do, and if you keep a particular ship and don't trade it in for the refreshed model, after a few years you'll have a vintage ship and parts may be more scarce because your model's been out of production for so long. The old/new F7A division is that plan being put into action for the first time.
The player-owned Hornet models are due for a rework, but it's likely that the styling will be preserved and just brought up to the new standard of detail. It seems like CIG are working on the 3xx series right now, which leaves the Aurora and Hornet lines due for rework.

my best feedback for what to do with the cutlass is just follow suit with that updated caterpillar cabin because damn that's my aesthetic

i was gonna go with a carrack but after seeing the caterpillar improve so massively in design im glad i have one. even got dragonflies
I'm pumped for the Cutlass revamp. I like the ship already, but the new Drake aesthetic is fucking sick. Blending the two... mmm
Can't wait to see mine all purdied up.
