Star Citizen Megathread - Star Marine isn't doomed after all!

I'm getting pretty excited for Star Marine now, while I don't expect too much, it kind of looks like a blend between Rainbow Six Siege and a Call of Duty multiplayer? How many features are expected to be missing in the 2.6 release?
According to the schedule, which was updated today, the only thing that's been cut from 2.6 in order to not hold the patch back so far is the bind culling part of the netcode cleanup (two other netcode-related tasks still on track). New schedule shows that CIG expects to go to public PTU between Monday and next Thursday prior to a public launch on Friday the 16th.
Unless you're asking about how many Star Marine features are expected to be missing in 2.6 with the intention of adding them in future patches. And that's a big unknown since CIG hasn't laid out exact promises for the future of Star Marine beyond the 2.6 SM launch feature set (which is still intact AFAIK). Everything from Illfonic is missing if you count that, and that includes the entire Sataball map that looked straight out of Ender's Game.
The Citizencon demo UI is in 2.6, although NPC conversations may not be so that part of Inner Thought may not be working yet.

...the only new Kastak gun that looks remotely sensible is the one that doesn't fire bullets.
...riiiiiiight.
that grip looks like it's going to snap off
and ofcourse massive amounts of greeble
i understand you want your scifi guns to look cool, but what ruins the coolness is having stuff that people can point at and say it makes no sense
I just want a SC gun that isn't some overcomplicated mass of polygons or a stupid looking Heckler & Koch with an ammo readout. :unimpressed:
SC guns need more wood
Whhhyyyy, why are their gun designs so... poor and overly-complicated for no reason? The ~aesthetic~ isn't even all that great.
SC's ship designs are pretty superb; but their weapon designs... euchh..
addendum: holy shit i spent way too much money on the anniversary sale.
By today's standards, Halo's guns are really boring, but they're still my standard for video game sci-fi guns. They look like things that could actually work while having a bit of sci-fi in them.
The ironic thing though is that gun design in the real world seems to be approaching that of Halos for whatever reason, so guns that were already pretty conservative looking for future guns are starting to look like just regular guns with some of the things out there now.
SC's ship designs are pretty superb
I disagree. For every good ship there's at least two that are nonredeemable.
I wouldn't say there's that many just outright awful ships. I think the Scythe and Constellation are definitely mistakes, but the majority of SC ships mostly lie within generic to kind of mediocre.
Gladius is definitely ace though. Probably my favorite ship design in the game.
I like the Mustang. Two big engines strapped to an ultra-light chassis with a big open canopy on the front.

I still don't understand why the gladius has that split hull/penis thing on the bottom.

Except that means the thrust of the main engines is completely off-axis, so the nose maneuvering thrusters have to apply like 30% of the total thrust of the ship downward just to go straight.

What was wrong with the Redeemer?
What was wrong with the Redeemer?
it's it's the one redeemer to the two unredeemable
it's also a hotly contested and allegedly unredeemable ship because people are babies about allowing cool sci fi nacelles when the game was 90% plane shaped stuff with engines that probably don't make sense for space anyways

I think it looks neat. Besides, SC doesn't really seem to have a general aesthetic.

it's the ship that got me to sign up for the game, love the articulated nacelles and halo pelican aesthetics going on. Obviously it desperately needs to be brought up to code and will change in size and probably shape a bit, but for being developed by a team of fan artists I've been super satisfied with the design and kind of wish the near copy/paste aegis aesthetic took cues from it, rather than from the retaliator's stealth bomber aesthetics

Are there any ships in SC with twin-stick controls or all they all yokes and stick + trhottle?

The Khartu is controlled by two trackball looking things. I'm pretty sure at least one of the ships used a twin stick though. Maybe it was the Avenger?
What do you guys reckon the honesty switch is? Spoof/disable transponder? Jammer?

If it's any consolation you didn't sound like an unsupervised autist.

it should be like TARS from interstellar, for when the computer should 'never tell you the odds'
not a guess toward game functionality but if I were to design an honesty dial it'd probably be tied to the targeting system. the higher you crank it up, the more missile locks you ping to a target. People might be a bit more honest with you then
will there be a ship with 6 seperate buttons to launch increasing amounts of missiles?
ofcourse in completely different places

Take heavy damage to the starboard engine, venting atmosphere, jump drive offline, out of coffee creamer, 0% honesty and the computer just sits there like:
