Star Citizen Megathread - Star Marine isn't doomed after all!

While everyone's waiting on 2.6, I thought I'd share a trailer for a project I've been working with some friends on.

Hope you guys enjoy.
Hmm I wonder which voice you did.

Last RtV (and AtV) for the year.

I'm just speculating here, but I'd guess that Steve's a) tired and hasn't been sleeping much and b) has a list of tasks and deadlines that he should be working on instead of reading from a script rolling through his head. He wasn't so haggard back in the summer.
Last week's lorepost was another broadcast from our old pal Parker Terrell, who's on a rant about the Tevarin and their treatment at the hands of the UEE in light of the discoveries in Kabal. Includes some chilling facts by the token voice of sensibility guest.
This week's lorepost is another journalism piece on following recruits through boot camp and into Navy flight school, in this case.
The schedule is updated. The scheduled target to push 2.6 to public PTU is now open, but likely next week. Almost everything is feature-complete and being tested, except for the Cat, Arena Commander pickups, some code, the netcode business, and UI stuff that's on hold for the other stuff to be finished.
The holiday livestream is next Friday, the 16th, and includes a concept ship reveal as well as who knows what. If they don't show the SQ42 demo they wanted to show at Citizencon they'd better have Chris live on-camera explaining exactly why. Chris is in the UK on SQ42 stuff (a good sign?) but stated in the newsletter that he intends to be back in LA for the stream.

Subscribers get one (or two) of these to decorate their hangar.

jesus christ i upped my volume at first when it was silent, scared the shit out of me.
Self-attachable hovering helmets? Is that a pre-order item?
The Reclaimer is another one of those ships to the two others.
Have Clould Imperium / Robert Space Industries / Foundry 42 / Insert Other Company Here delivered on any of their promises yet
the RSI website has been down and nobody's seen any update progress for months, radio silence across the board and the head of the project hasn't shown his face since the launch of the last big update :(
the FP thread has constantly talked about how nobody here expected s42 to release a miracle by end of year like reddit hopefuls were on about like in february, so great conversation starter
one thing I can (vaguely) report on for S42 progress is the guy responsible for the redeemer seems to be back onto working on the ship and systems related to the ursa, which wasn't supposed to happen until he and the rest of the S42 ship team were 100% done with the campaign assets.
so tsundere~

the true game isn't star citizen, it's following the development of it

One of my favourite parts so far was the drinking game updates.
2.6 is in NDA'd Evocati PTU and CIG's aiming to launch it to public PTU this week before the holiday livestream on Friday.
2.6 includes a little thing called Star Marine that, as we all know, was cancelled a year ago and doesn't exist.

Chris Roberts is a hack fraud. These men are pawns.

They're releasing it before? I would have guessed they would drop it mid stream.

It might very well be something they drop during the stream, especially the live release if it's ready, but the public PTU window as of the schedule last Friday is tomorrow for a 2.6 live release on Friday. Unless they're really confident, I'm fairly certain that they'll pull a 2.1 release and leave 2.5 as the live build over the holidays, but put 2.6 on the PTU and open access to everyone, so that you can choose between stable gameplay or the new still kind of crashy hotness.
oh look hezzy's back, grab your liquor of choice

the whole pelican+warthog thing is a great idea for differentiating the redeemer from the carrier vanguard, but I feel it's going to look goofy as hell with it hanging off the back like that in any context other than flying in atmosphere
it would be nice if it could withdraw at least partially into that dinky little cargo bay up there

that model looked to be the old redeemer, which is fully expected to bloat a good amount to match up to the design standards for systems and usability. I'm not sure it'd be able to pull back into the storage bay, but I'm sure it'll get locked sturdily into place if they do keep that mounting idea. They previously said they'd really like to give the ship the option to carry a vehicle, but at the time (prior to knowing ships would be increasing in size at all) the notion was jamming a greycat into the lower bay, which was a hilariously terrible idea
another point of difference between the hoplite and redeemer is that the redeemer is planned to have swappable modules, which I'd assume will be smaller variants of what we'll see on the retaliator. From tali to deemer, you're trading module scale for platform with higher raw weapons output, a smaller profile, presumably more agility, etc, and the redeemer+hoplite would have the advantage of fitting into hangar bays. I still feel the hoplite's role is too redundant given it's within manufacturer of another known trooper ship, BUT I also don't blame them for wanting to use the already up-to-spec vanguard instead of spending more time updating and refining a ship design that needs a ground-up overhaul
Fuck your drama, have the launch trailer for the film I'm involved in. Coming tomorrow!
