I'm a bit upset they included the grilled cheese fields on the redeemer, and didn't retract its landing gear, heh Writing was a bit too vanilla and some animations were stiff, but hell it's insane to see a fan project on this scale, and I'm excited to see the quality improve as the team pushes forward.
We were very, very conscious of the anim shortfalls and the redeemer gear, sadly. But the thing is, we were working with leaked CIG assets and only had access to the animations that came with the leak. So lots of improvisation was needed. I'm glad you liked it overall, though!

[editline]16th December 2016[/editline] Looking forward to Part 2 [editline]16th December 2016[/editline] Also watch out for potential Half Life 3 Confirmed Skype jokes if they Skype at all during the holiday livestream.
Stream is scheduled to start in an hour. So, y'know, add 40 minutes for Chris to rewrite the presentation and then reboot his computer again. There are still outstanding bugs and tasks they want to solve before going live. The SQ42 vertical slice isn't being shown because they've been prioritizing 2.6, then SQ42, then 3.0, because the tech needs to be fleshed out for the vertical slice to pick it up. They've mismanaged the communication of this damn thing, but I can't actually be mad at them for making the tech work ahead of making a demo nice and pretty.
This has to be the most cringeworthy yet hilarious live stream yet :v:

The SQ42 demo requires something that's part of 2.6? So how were they going to get it done for CitizenCon (when that looked likely) when 2.6 was nowhere near finished? Sure getting the tech working rather than just for the demo is great, but this whole situation is just terrible. I'm not angry or anything like that and I'm usually very defensive of the game, but it was almost done for CitizenCon within just a few weeks but then 2 months later, it's still not ready...that is not good at all. Saying "We don't want to fix it just for the demo" is also the exact same reason it wasn't done 2 months ago.
Stream chat summed up:
Halkenguard : <comment deleted for voicing concern>
[editline]16th December 2016[/editline]
DevWolfTV : Mods are gonna get fired if they keep silencing backers for voicing concern, i see the trolls but thats not who im talking about. last time they had to write an appoligy letter to us. Earleier a USA chanter get banned but the UE chanter was fine, but thats the least of their worrys. Cant wait to see the forums in 30 mins.
Since CitizenCon we’ve been working towards 2.6 as our priority, with Squadron 42 core tech being second priority, followed by 3.0 development. So while it may be disappointing not to see something this year on Squadron 42, I believe it’s the best choice for the long term good of both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. It’s critical that we focus on finishing up the core systems we’ve designed to handle the needs of both games, as without them, other parts of the development team are blocked from finalizing key gameplay.

lmao take to the reddit (or RSI forums if you've got the stomach to deal with the amount of salt content in the air right now) if you want any sort of dev to see your comments and concerns, twitch chat is fast spammy garbage in the first place but everything I've been seeing get deleted has been overly flamey, accusatory, or otherwise irrelevant shitposts
for $200 i could upgrade my cutlass to a caterpillar....
what a greatly terrible stream. Cool new info still, but it suffered all of the hallmarks we've come to know from their livestreams, and more also CR put out a statement prior to the stream, probably should've noticed this before going in expecting surprises. Sad but understandable, but also way too easy to riff on about not actually having anything to show, etc etc
In anticipation of today's Live Stream, I did want to address one thing that I have been seeing speculation on in the forums: whether or not today's Live Stream will feature the Squadron 42 Vertical Slice. After we made the decision before CitizenCon that the Squadron 42 vertical slice wasn’t ready to be shown publically, we spent some time on reviewing how far off we were and what we wanted to achieve in order to be comfortable showing a full chapter of S42 gameplay. After all the effort we expended for CitizenCon, we didn’t want to spend additional developer time polishing intermediate solutions if it wasn’t going towards the final product. A slick demo isn’t that helpful if it pushes back the finished game, so we decided that the priority should be completing full systems over getting the vertical slice into a showable state.
The statement, btw, is from the weekly newsletter, in a mini Letter from the Chairman before the usual links and pics.
I'm not 100% sure where Techbot was quoting this from, but this was pasted into the Discord:
Am i misunderstanding something here? 1. A few weeks before Citizencon the SQ42 gameplay was almost ready and they seemed optimistic about getting it done in time. They didn't want to fake anything just to show us back then and wanted it all working properly. 2. The features holding it back from being shown now are "Item 2.0, Subsumption AI, Subsumption Mission System and asynchronous Object Container Streaming are all core systems that will power Squadron 42". These features would also have been needed to be ready for Citizencon as they weren't going to fake it. So before Citizencon they said it was almost ready and they thought they could those things done in time, yet 2 months later those same features still aren't ready even though they almost were before?

The PR hit from flat out not doing it and waiting til the last possible second to say "oh yeah we decided not to do it after the first stream we were supposed to have it for" is going to be way costlier than losing a few weeks' extra devtime to a build that doesn't progress the real deal
has anyone else noticed this happens like clockwork every year? around this time something gets inevitably delayed and now the masses are getting riled up about ship sales and delays cue the whiny reddit threads filling the front page until they they get the shiny new caterpillar to calm them down and we return to scheduled cult behaviour
It's the normal cycle of a somewhat dry and slow summer, and then the hype overtaking CIG's actual stuff to show, meaning everyone gets blueballed up and pissed. I'm a bit disappointed in how CIG has handled communication of the vertical slice and such, but progress is still clearly a fairly steady state even if it's not translating into builds for us. You can bet that there are sock puppets running to Reddit to help stir the shit, of course. Let's see how long we can go without mentioning dumbass in the next thread, too.
was at least fun to see the cat in action for that pirate 'raid' at the beginning (along with the EMP avenger doing its job for a real reason) also preview of the cat skin you'll be able to unlock (if you have a cat, oof) by defeating pirate swarm. swaps interior ugly green accents to the same semigloss red paint on the exterior, trades covalex flair for more appropriate symbolism [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/08fblxac4e49ir/source/Cat_closeup.png[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/WZKqcla.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/XZqoedY.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/W4m2sv9.jpg[/t]
