vanguard is your ship, from redundant systems to being written in lore as being able to hobble its way out of a fight missing a surprising amount of its hull [editline]e[/editline] My LTI Vanguard Sentinel is available for those with deep pockets :J
i still notice thruster damage and inability to turn in a certain directions but the ship manages to prevent spinning into oblivion.
I filed a concierge claim like 3 months ago when I had swapped out my game package for a constellation digital pack, realizing at the time that it actually granted me a greycat and the workbench when I already owned both of those through spending my complimentary UEC back in the day. I wanted to refund those two since I didn't need duplicates, and I got a generic 'we're overloaded with requests right now' response after a few days. A month later I decided to swap around game packages since that pack's game package portion was like 50 bucks for few unique perks. got two more 'hey sorry we're still overloaded' autoresponses since then, but today I received $10 real dollars store credit instead of the (previously free) 10,000 UEC I lost my existing workbench but I don't think I can complain with essentially melting a freebie into actual credit

They may be horribly late, but they get fucking shit done
Once again, CIG's CS dep. gets through. They may be horribly late, but they get fucking shit done
Eh... I asked whether they could melt some Badger repeaters I had bought and didn't need (Thought I had two, turns out I already have four) and was told a month later that they couldn't do that.
it does kinda say when you buy that all UEC purchases are final
it does kinda say when you buy that all UEC purchases are final
Aye, but Dai just related how he had UEC purchases refunded. Why not mine?
Aye, but Dai just related how he had UEC purchases refunded. Why not mine?
in context, I [at the time of the request] ended up with duplicates of items that'd be useless to me in duplicate. I know I actively purchased the package but I figured it was worth a shot to ask about it. In the message just now the person said they normally don't do this [and won't do it for me again] but due to the factors it was OK to let it slide also after some thinking, I'd let my vanguard slide in a trade for anything in the 250 range, saving $25. Redeemer is always available though a limited ship would totally be preferable just for the unmelt value down the line
I'm sorry but "turning flaps" has me giggling The A-10 has triple redundant systems and the entire thing is designed around durability. Including the arrangement of the control surfaces, engine nacelles, and the structure of the cockpit. It's quite the impressive beast, even if it is sadly obsolete nowadays. That sort of durability would be hella neat though
Hey its my best friend that's an air force nerd, not me :v:
I really want to get into SC but it's intimidating as hell from the outside. I don't even know if my new computer can run it or how to buy in if it could.

It still runs a bit chunky but it's wholly unoptimized right now. (I usually change the thread title here to announce events so watch that) to buy in: Find a "Game Package". It includes a pre-order for everything, and comes with a starter ship (which you can utilize in all the beta junk). Currently your best deal at the cheapest price is the Aurora LN Game Package, because its ship is worth $35 while the other same-priced packages have lesser value ships (not sure why). This way you have a slightly better ship, and if you ever want to upgrade your ship to something bigger later on it'll cost less in the meantime: [t]https://i.imgur.com/i1kW74n.jpg[/t]
Question, btw: In early builds of Arena Commander, when I took damage I'd sometimes lose a maneuvering thruster and have that change reflected on my flight model. I don't think I've seen that happen even once since Arena Commander 1.0 - At least not to me. Did they cave in to the complaints and take out that feature?
I lost the top front left thruster (of the ones around the turret) on my hornet yesterday, it was almost uncontrollable, but I managed to get to Cry-Astro for repairs, but it seems repairs don't include fixing that sadly, so I had to respawn the ship. Can you pull thrusters off on the holotable? Because then you could test how many thrusters you need to loose to change the flight charectaristics enough to be observable, or if certain thrusters matter more.
To be fair, that label is on a gun, which could theoretically be oriented in any way...
i still notice thruster damage and inability to turn in a certain directions but the ship manages to prevent spinning into oblivion.
I've noticed some really odd stuff in 2.0.0, like my Super Hornet picking up 10-15 m/s additional top speed after receiving damage. IFCS damage?

Chose a bad time of year to try and sell off a vanguard, Dai [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] much as i'd like one
Like I said, I'd pull a deal for 250 instead of its $265 value (thought it was 275). Save a few bucks compared to that sale and get LTI to boot! otherwise I may just melt it for the credit to shuffle during the sale, could always buy it back but it wouldn't be tradeable unless someone fronted me real cash instead of ingame credit
People will sit outside stations having their friends carve off the stupid and unnecessary wings and flaps just to go faster. do my mustang please
you're not wrong, the super fast laps people were doing in mustang were after knocking their wings completely off
Really, the best balancing I can think of for ballistic weapons is the same that other games use, like Elite, or that old shooter on the Xbox, Halo. Energy weapons are less effective against hull but drain shields faster, ballistic weapons are less effective against shields but do more damage to a ship's hull due to greater armor penetration.
This is already what it's supposed to be, once the game's balanced. It'd only be to see if my machine could handle the game, then I'd buy in for myself. It won't be for a little while in any event since I'm dead broke after Christmas shopping.
As long as you have a game package, you gain access to everything available now that's live, as well as the retail game and (for now, this is probably changing in the new year) Squadron 42. It does not automatically grant PTU access for patches that are in limited testing (like 2.1 is right now), but there's no additional cost to those, they just select based on criteria like "is active in posting bug reports" and "actively plays the game". The game client is 30GB and the performance in Port Olisar is bad right now, as the server updates every client with what's happening with every other client even if they're 200,000km apart (as said in the 10FTC above), but they're aware of the problems and are working on it. Minspec is 8GB of RAM, i5 or i7, and a fairly decent video card (CPU is the big drag right now, my R9 270x gets about the same performance on Low as it does on Very High except for a slight lag with asset loading for obvious reasons). PM me when you want to try it and we'll arrange how it's going to go down.
I've got 16gb of ram, a 6th gen i7 and a 960M (laptop card). It's the graphics card I'm not sure about. This machine gets a stable 50-60 fps in Fallout 4 on the highest settings, but I'm guessing SC is more intensive. My favorite ship to fly in Elite is my Clipper. What's most similar to that in SC?
Comparing the performance in SC now against a released game is unreliable because FO4 would've had the nuts optimized off of it even when you account for the typical Bethesda Bug effect. It... should be at least "playable" (and not 2fps slideshow mode) with your rig, but don't expect it to run great. Speaking as someone who's never flown a Clipper, just from the stats, it... looks kind of like it'd be roughly equivalent to a Constellation? The Connie's in a comfortable spot about two steps above single-crew ships; it's bigger and more well-armed than Freelancers and Cutlasses, and is more multipurpose than a Vanguard (which is a boom-and-zoom first-striker) or something like a Redeemer (a gunship more likely than the Vanguard to be in a fleet support role). Maybe a Redeemer or a Vanguard instead of a Connie if you wanted to emphasize different combat aspects instead. Someone who's flown bigger ships than a Cobra Mk. III chime in because I'm talking out my ass here. I don't know how reliable comparisons between ships in the two games can really be because the balance meta is entirely different, multicrew is a giant question mark for Elite and is at least a bit more fleshed out (but still a question mark, like how useless manned turrets will end up being) in SC.
suggestion: Buy the aurora LN package for now. Get ingame, test the waters, hang out with some FPers or randoms in Port Olisar (Universe menu option at start) who have a bunch of ships to show off When you know what you want, you can 'upgrade' the ship with an at-cost difference to another ship. The 'game package' portion of that sale is only 10 bucks, whereas most game packages are $15, with a few larger outliers; the smaller starter packages are technically $15 and $20 on top of the ship value. Constellation's digital package is $50 on top of the ship, but has a lot more junk that comes with it, so getting that same ship on your LN game package would cost you $160 instead of $200 (this is assuming you're willing to donate that much to the project though!) or you can "Melt it down", meaning you exchange the whole thing for its value in store credit, and can purchase a larger value package when you have a better idea of what you want, netting you some extra perks and more starter money in the end. Detail on melting or upgrading: Go to My Hangar via the 'My RSI' button on the site menu Ships or other items have a little arrow, which grants you options. You can turn them back into store credit, and if you didn't use store-credit to buy the item, you have the option to gift it to another player. (items can only be gifted once, and become account bound to whoever receives it. They will still be able to melt it for credit instead of keeping it) To get an upgrade, go to this page, select your existing ship on the left, then the ship you want on the right. Buying this gives you an upgrade card. You'll see the upgrade as a separate item in your hangar screen, which has a button to apply it to your base ship
And when you do register an account, pick your favourite member's referral code out of the spreadsheet in the OP. Literally don't care if it's not me, too. Pick who you wish. But, yeah, unless you end up liking one of my ships or whatever (I've several ships out on REC, too, at least right now, may not be true when the borrowing-trial actually happens), just get the LN package and don't worry about going large. As dai says, you can always throw more money in and swap the ship in the package out with a more expensive one (like a Connie). I recommend against buying a Connie or Redeemer now because they're $150-275 and you'll be able to earn them in-game once the economy goes no-more-wipes live. Plus we have a bunch of Connies in fpcorp so there'll be plenty of opportunities to try flying one of those instead of buying your own. I hope it stays on PTU, honestly, instead of overwriting 2.0, unless they're confident that it's a major step up. I've actually not had time to get into the PTU itself, yet, that's what I'm doing tonight. 2.1.0b is live on PTU, too.
This is already what it's supposed to be, once the game's balanced.
Without the ballistic shield penetration. That just makes ballistic weapons so OP they're broken.
I wasn't sure if a direct comparison would be possible, but I'd agree the Constellation looks like my gig. I've never been a great dogfighter (although I'm probably above average as far as that goes if my kill count vs players in Elite means anything) - what I really want is a big, mean pirate ship. I'll probably start out with the Aurora per dai's suggestion once Christmas is past us and I won't be worrying about being able to buy last minute gifts for people. I can cope with 20 fps so if that's all my computer can handle that'll be enough for me. Thanks for the tips, guys. I was sure I'd never explore Star Citizen but I'm getting increasingly frustrated with how content Elite is with mediocrity when it could be so much more.
Hey its my best friend that's an air force nerd, not me :v:
I'm in school for aero/astro engineering, and going for my PhD. being pedantic is what I do :v: Ailerons are the things that control roll (tilt), elevators control elevation or vertical tilt, rudders are yaw. The A10 has dual hydraulic systems and a last resort cable system, and the trim tabs (little mini flaps on bigger flaps) can be used to turn as well by hitting a switch. The aircraft can fly with one of two rudders, partially damaged ailerons, one engine, and damaged elevators. It's a fuckin tank. And the magazine for the main cannon is the size of a VW bug [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] I really do want the cargo vessels, or the Starfarer. Flying those types of things is so relaxing and I think doing it in VR would he even cooler.
