Star Citizen Megathread - Star Marine isn't doomed after all!

i think pledging an extra $25 to start with a reliant will be one of the first things i do to flex the freedom of a disposable income. like "haha, i can spend money on things i don't need"
Framerate issues in PTU 2.1.0c seem distinctly different from those in the live build, 2.0.
Periods of dropping framerates occur seemingly at random, and come with a noticeable time dilation effect. The game slows to a near-standstill for a period between thirty seconds and a minute, then slowly returns to normal.
Issue council report here: Please contribute, folks. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/community/issue-council/star-citizen-alpha/SC-6053-low_FPS_in_crusader_2_1c
I've also created a second issue council report for an issue of lesser importance, but still pretty major. While it was possible to load ships such as the Super Hornet into the live build, 2.0, with a custom loadout, this is impossible in 2.1
Here's the report I created; I'd appreciate your contributions.
I got the 2.1.0 invite but I dont own a ship???
There's a temporary free flight for people who have accounts but no package right now, AFAIK. However, in the PTU, you will have to steal someone else's ship or get onto it (if multicrew), so it's less helpful.
However, they enabled all account holders to have access.

This is how it starts... :v:
Reliant's two seats, though, for extra fun. Not a bad choice of ship.
I know that we will all someday look back, like the backers who supported us, and find incredible satisfaction in these five words: I helped make Star Citizen.
This line from CR in the Letter moved me. The dream really is happening. All of us who have backed, who have contributed bug reports, who've made suggestions and who've shared gameplay and told their friends, we've all helped, in our small ways, to support the development team making this dream come true.
I'm feeling a tear welling up in my eye. Where did all this fucking dust come from?
also that was funny randomly finding you in one of the servers Arch
keep an eye on that sales post, they'll be adding the vanguard and the BUK packages for those swappable parts at the bottom
no don't rate that winner, noooooo

Just remember to set yourself a limit and don't cross it.

holiday sale is uP
Just my luck, though... they said they'd make the Vanguard variants available, and instantly forgot to put them on sale. 10/10.
Just going to ask Concierge support if they'll allow me to trade the Sentinel that Dai gave me for a Warden with a sentinel BUK, and keep the LTI. I've got enough store credit to cover the difference, too.
I mean, the Sentinel's really cool, but I have a sneaking suspicion the base Warden has a better armored hull - Or will be made to, to fit its role. Also, I like its color better. So if I can have a Warden base and interchange it with a Sentinel kit thenmaybeIcanmakeitevencooler...
I have 6 P-72 Archimedes in my buyback queue that I can liberate and place into your hands, now or later. It'd be nice if I didn't lose $30 in the deal, of course, but, we can work something out.

I appreciate the offer, Elix, and if Concierge won't help me, I might just take you up on that offer. Since I don't have any way to compensate you for now, however, I'll pass and hope that CiG's customer service comes through. Besides, I'd lose access to the VFG Industrial hangar if I used the Archimedes as a base. That thing's awesome.
You will not lose access to the hangar if you replace the Vanguard with the P-72->CCU'd Vanguard. I have my R&Y despite my Khartu-al being an upgraded P-72 and reading "Self-Land". I even said this in Discord. :v:
...I also have a VFG now for some bonkers reason despite not owning a single ship that should ever qualify me. But I'm not complaining about that.
Get yourself a CCU token to the Vanguard you want, especially if you can get a $0 lateral swap. If Concierge won't help, that'll cover you.

I'm just looking at that page hitting F5 every couple of minutes...
might upgrade to a retaliator base by meltin a mustang and upgradin my 350r
it has cargo, fast speeds, and combat shit so it looks good to me.
How long does it take to copy an account, and how do I know if it's been completed?

Done. Got a token from a Redeemer to a Vanguard upgrade, since that's a flat $0 conversion. Now to wait and see. I get the feeling that whomever was in charge of putting those ships and BUKs up for sale went home, and is completely oblivious.

You will get an email when it's copied with your PTU password. This password's only needed for logging into the PTU site for PTU hangar configuration.
Also, Arch, don't expect to hear from CS until 2016. However, stated policy for CS is that they treat cases as if they were answering it on the day of the request, so if they were to swap for you, they'd badge you for a Vanguard as if the sale was still on. And if they don't, we'll sort you out.
Wanted the Mustang Delta but I don't think it's quite worth $65 at the moment.
Is there any downside to the Beta? I have an Alpha but as far as I can tell the Beta is the same thing with an optional living space module.

Yeah, I figured I'd have a bit of a wait ahead of me. Doesn't bother me too much, since the Vanguard isn't flyable, and won't be until 2016 anyway.

The Beta's got no downside, far as I can tell. I used to own one, actually. It has a very cozy living space - Tight, but not cramped.
The Delta's the "more dakka" version of the Beta, but its dumbfire rockets suck. It's good for replacing the pods with turreted guns, but you might as well just get a SH if you want that noise.
The Beta's a long-range scout with decent weaponry for its price and size.
I might upgrade to the Beta then. I plan on getting all the Mustangs eventually I just wonder which would be the best one to start with
Beta, tbh. Or Gamma if you really wanna race instead.

M-50 is on sale... Shiiiiiiit.

imo alpha is best to start with if you mean as your only starter ship
beta loses the cargo for living space, and whilst the camper area is cool as heck, it doesn't really do anything. there may be some relevance to having living space in future but even then, it's definitely more oriented towards exploration
so I'd go with alpha for general purpose unless you're really interested in exploration
I've just done my umpteenth ship shuffle, and now I am sitting on:
Freelancer
F7C-M
As well as,
Upgraded my Sabre LTI to a Genesis Starliner (Had to sell the connie )
[t]http://i.imgur.com/tH3ziOr.png[/t]
Grabbed the M50, as I've always seemed to miss it at every sale since it was first available.

Changed from a Skirmisher to a Researcher, because science.

What perks do I get if I was an original backer? IIRC the only ship I had was Aurora. Is that the only ship I'll get, or were original backers rewarded with more?

You don't get any free ships just for being an early bird. However, you've got a pile of shit from crowdfunding unlocks due to you (some of it is, and some of it is not, in the hangar - like your towel).
You also have access to everything in the current feature list, plus the PTU for 2.1 (which adds the Freelancer and makes some other less dramatic changes).
If you're original enough to have gotten in before the Behind Enemy Lines stretch goal, you get the first two of the three Squadron 42 titles in your pledge. Think Wing Commander 1-3, so, two AAA-tier single-player campaigns for the price of one.
If you are a Golden Ticket holder, there will be something special for you (undisclosed for now).
OK, I've got the email and now I'm downloading. 30gb, here we go!
Oh god, so I only bought my way into this game with the Aurora MR Starter package a few days ago, but now there's a sale on and the prices are going up after it ends? I haven't found time to play yet but probably should so I can figure out what ship I want to work towards and make use of the sale, but is it only for acquiring completely new ships rather than upgrading from a previous one?
[editline]24th December 2015[/editline]
Also actually making sure I like the game itself before I commit further might be a good move. I've only heard good things and recommendations from my friends though
If I get a new ship but end up not liking it, it wouldn't be too much of a loss since I could melt it down and get something else right? I should take my time over the next few days anyway
Store keeps giving me "skus:Not enough stock for this order" every time I try to add something to the cart.
Probably a good thing but hey I want to buy more stuff!

We all know how CIG is when it comes to dates
God damnit. I HAD to spend all the money I had available for a Tali Base, JUST in time for them to release the upgrade modules. Please tell me those are sticking around.
