...I kinda want that Archimedes
...I kinda want that Archimedes
Looks slick, ey?
Everyone needs a getaway vehicle. And it's only $30. ...This thing stays with me if I buy it, yeah?
upload so we know what we're getting into :v:
This is the draft:
Reminds me... [t]http://i3.minus.com/iBdWu0oVWfTZn.png[/t] I still have this as an emblem for Facepunch. Maybe I should change the bottom to say "Punchers"? Would "Star Punchers" be a reasonable name for the FP group?

Oh god I'm going to become a crazy space hermit collecting spaceships again I can feel it. It's EvE all over again

What's the cheapest non-Reliant multi crew?
What's the cheapest non-Reliant multi crew?
I believe the Freelancer at $110: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/misc-freelancer/Freelancer#buying-options
Cutlass Black, $100
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15136-Star-Citizen-Alpha-21-Available ayy [editline]24th December 2015[/editline] live still seems to be on 2.0, but it's christmas eve so I'd give them a couple of hours
Wait what? Didn't they open the 2.1 PTU for everyone like yesterday? The hell is this about. Edit: And of course they had to change "Live" to "PTU" right after I posted this. Well rused Mr. Roberts.
The announcement is unfortunately a mistake, 2.1 is only on the PTU for now, though it is open invite!
Everyone needs a getaway vehicle. And it's only $30. ...This thing stays with me if I buy it, yeah?
By all criteria, the P-72 is a terrible getaway vehicle on account of the fact that, as a parasite ship, it has no Jump Drive nor a Quantum Drive. It is dependent on the Constellation it undocks from to leave the local area. The P-72 is a variant of the P-52 which is in-game now. The P-52 cannot leave the vicinity of Port Olisar except under slow impulse power (meaning it's gonna take 9 hours minimum to get to a Comm station). It's a good racer, but it will not get you away from a fight at all.
Oh god, so I only bought my way into this game with the Aurora MR Starter package a few days ago, but now there's a sale on and the prices are going up after it ends?
The price is only going up in that CIG has been artificially locking the USD<->Euro exchange rate, and on January 1st, they're allowing the exchange rate to be the actual exchange rate. Prices may go up or down, but CIG isn't actually jacking up ship costs any. You can buy upgrade tokens (to replace the ship in your current package without losing the rest of the package), standalone ships, or game packages.
What's the cheapest non-Reliant multi crew?
Herald, technically, although it's got a very specific purpose. The Freelancer and Cutlass are the first general-purpose multicrew past the Reliant.
Anyone wanna buy some of my buybacks? https://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/comments/3xntyg/wts_various_lti_ships_etc/
To finally own one is so awesome! :D
I've been stuck trying to make music for ages now, been unable to make shite for a week (despite feeling super inspired and having tons of ideas during finals week, ofc). I've been watching ads and vids for SC though, which have been surprisingly inspiring. Anyone here working on raw cinematic spaceship footage they want to share for me to maybe try scoring? I'd record my own but Surface Pro 3's don't exactly do too hot at running Star Citizen for some reason.
The price is only going up in that CIG has been artificially locking the USD<->Euro exchange rate, and on January 1st, they're allowing the exchange rate to be the actual exchange rate. The Aurora LX is only a few quid difference to upgrade to and seems to be a direct upgrade to the MR (aside from weaker engines it seems?) and exploration/commerce sounds like a nice introduction to the game once it launches, so I might as well go for it (unless upgrade prices aren't changing?) Once I get used to controlling ships I could upgrade to a fighter further down the line and go for a more ambitious career Seeing as I've heard of people 'losing' expensive ships and the like, what does that actually apply to? Is it possible to lose a ship permanently? edit: Alright, so I read about insurance a bit, still not sure how this factors into SC in it's current state. Apparently I have 3 months insurance?
The LX is superior to the MR in two ways: - Jump Drive installed as part of stock equipment - The LN's missile rack The Aurora MR won't be able to leave the star system it starts in until you buy a Jump Drive. The LX comes with it, new or through insurance replacements. No ship pricing is changing. However, the USD->Euro conversion will no longer be fixed, so your effective pricing may go up, because all prices are determined in USD and then converted to either Euros or GBP (which is also a currency option for you unless they've changed that). [editline]24th December 2015[/editline]
Seeing as I've heard of people 'losing' expensive ships and the like, what does that actually apply to? Is it possible to lose a ship permanently?
Yes, like EVE Online, insurance will be necessary to prevent you from losing your ship. But hull insurance is going to be cheap as dirt and it's going to basically be your own dumb fault if you fly an uninsured ship out of the hangar and then blow it up (losing it permanently). Here is everything we know about insurance (from the previous megathread).
Thanks for explaining. The more I read about the planned features and how they're handling things like player death etc. the more I find myself fully agreeing with their decisions. Kicking myself for not pledging earlier, but hopefully late pledgers like me won't turn into second class (star) citizens haha. I can see myself getting crazily into this game

There's no ships they have access to that we don't. I'm not worried about it. EDIT: What sorcery is this? I'm downloading the new PTU and my max download rate has usually been 10.8 megabytes per second for like the past two years. Suddenly I'm getting a sustained 13.4 on this DL. Huh.
Meanwhile, Smart's prediction of CiG collapsing 'in 90 days' has failed, and he's reneged on his promise of releasing new content to the backers of his game and making it accessible to all said backers for no additional cost.
Literally the only thing separating us from the Kickstater era backers are a few exclusive areas (The MMH Club, and a special star system)
Actually, the Million Mile High Club is a perk exclusively given to the first 100 Wing Commander ($10,000) pledges, and then the perk was removed from the package. These VIPs (as it were) can invite their friends, and their MMHC is basically a "hangar" in that it's individualized and instanced to them. There will be some other way of obtaining access to the MMHC, but don't expect it to be easy. Lando was mumbling on a stream about how they were considering (but not confirmed) making it the reward for 1,042 referrals.
Meanwhile, Smart's prediction of CiG collapsing 'in 90 days' has failed, and he's reneged on his promise of releasing new content to the backers of his game and making it accessible to all said backers for no additional cost.
Derek moved the goalposts on that, when called out, by saying that because CIG sold more shit to whales in the anniversary and Christmas sales (i.e. totally predictable annual events), they brought in enough money to give them a bit more time. It was never a credible claim to begin with. Remember that his favourite thing to say is "Star Citizen as originally pitched will never be made". And that's true, it's going to be much bigger and better than the original vision that was scaled down to fit a $20mil budget. Now they have $102mil and delivering a $20mil experience would caused armed rioting in the RSI forums, practically. Not that DS has any idea how to deliver even a $1mil experience despite claiming in the past that he was worth $200 million. He claims to have spent under $15mil to make LoD, and it looks like $10,000 worth of crack and a Unity tutorial project gone very wrong - which is, of course, less than $15 million. But, since it's Christmas, I wish even DS well. I hope 2016 sees him abandoning his crusade and seeking help for his uncontrolled mental illness. I just want him to go away and find a way to be happy, because he's hurting very badly now -- happy people don't spend six months yelling at clouds over a multi-decade grudge.
also hilarious how he reckons 80k players out of 1 mil backers in a week is bad... no mention of line of defence's numbers :v:
I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing in the Port Olisar map. I've seen people with no bodies and my ship tells me to select a destination but no button chooses it. What am I supposed to do in this god forsaken game?

You point your ship at the target once you've activated the QD overlay (default 'b'), then m3 and you're off. [editline]24th December 2015[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/dhV6W5C.jpg[/t] GOTY I hit F and it flipped back over onto its wheels and became unusable. I could push it around and it separated from its windshield glass. :v: On the upside, 130fps+ in the R&Y. hawt
Are there any permanent 350 dollar ships? I was thinking of a potential CCU token I could use to "reserve" a Reclaimer in case I ever run into money.
nope, closest is Aquila at $275
