Well the instruments on the instrument panel could also rotate, maintaining its usefulness. On top of that I think it will also clearly divide the co-pilot and the pilot to each have their own unique cockpit/seat area which adds to the awesomeness, similar to the freelancer.
Functionally it would be so much easier from an engineering standpoint to just attach it to the seat, and have it fixed that way. Mechanical systems can break, and software projected onto glass can break or be compromised. Rotating instruments gets weird too, as in you'd have to have them recalibrate in-flight and that would slow the transition down. I honestly wonder at times if I could mix my creative side and engineering side into being a concept designer for stuff like this. Only problem is I spent this summer learning to make musics, not draw :D
not watching firefly is like not watching cowboy bebop it's missing out on one of the coolest things in entertainment in general
i haven't watched both, i remember watching cowboy bebop but the memories are basically non-existant because it was just random eps on adult swim when i was like 11-12 im more of a star wars (action and small dashes of insight)/star trek (DIPLOMACY AND SCIENCE THE TV SHOW) type of person when it comes to sci-fi so yea.

What could possibly be up there that can't be projected as an alternate or compacted display on the eye-level HUD? I suppose it could be valid for the news van variant, at least, because I could legit see a second screen being useful there for the camera operator to both see from their vantage point and what the camera sees (with focus and zoom). But I'm sure that CIG could come up with a UI that solves that problem with everything in view at once.
I'm impressed with the mobiglas so far, but cockpit UIs could use a lot of work (and I imagine they will). This is something Elite really got right - managing missions and various ship functions while flying the craft is easy, and the UI makes sense and flows nicely. It's clearly been well designed and had UX work done in it or something, it's graphically and ergonomically pleasing Fuck I've been around my UX engineering roommate too much. He was fascinated with the UI in Elite and wanted to analyze it for a project. Also hope I'm not upsetting anyone with my Elite references. I have faith in Cig and we're in early Alpha so not worried. I can't imagine how long Elite was in dev and under wraps all stealthy like, and I'm pretty pissed about the whole payment for the expansion. But I got it for $5 during the winter sale since I sold my CSGO guns, so can't complain too much haha
Not strictly Star Citizen-related, but I just started watching Firefly last night. I'm glad I did, it's brilliant.
I finished it + Serenity in a weekend and then felt a cold darkness grip my heart upon realizing the ride was over.

People are chill about mentions of Elite here, unless you're being shitposty in some specific way with it. We're only seeing the beginnings of mobiGlas, and right now there's no integration between mobiGlas and your ship except for highlighting mission waypoints in Port Olisar (and technically that's probably being rendered on your helmet instead). Some of the cockpits (like the Aurora) are... "done" in terms of being transferred to the diegetic layouts, but nothing's finished as in ready-for-launch. BTW, for any newcomers who haven't seen what SC's Arena Commander helmet looked like before the default got replaced by Space Marine guy with Alpha 2.0, parts of the ship HUD project onto the visor of your helmet. The 2.0 marine helmet isn't set up for rendering the projection on the external model yet. [t]http://i.imgur.com/WAPWuWp.jpg[/t] It's subtle, but look for the shield projections in the top right of the helmet. [t]http://i.imgur.com/wapmKI2.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/cmgk9hA.jpg[/t] Leaning into G-forces now. Also the default pilot looks like a serial killer when the lighting comes in at the right angle.
just watch this and imagine a souped up red P52 escorting an old beat up 890 jump [editline]e[/editline] and just explain the penguin thing away as someone having an acid trip on an avenger [editline]e[/editline] also wedge antilles slaps spike
The Bebop was an old interplanetary fishing trawler, as I recall. The 890's a bit too ritzy for my tastes. But it can float and it can fly, just like the Bebop. Now, if I knew there'd be a way to retrofit one of those to make it a real brawler, throw a few holding cells in there, get rid of the unnecessary fluff, I'd want to get me one of those, too.
whats peoples favorite fighter so far?
whats peoples favorite fighter so far?
My F7C-M is pretty nasty.
My F7C-M is pretty nasty.
Yeah, the Super Hornet is one of the game's most combat-effective small fighters at the moment.
I love everything about the Mustang, from the great cockpit view, the silhouette, the fact that it's made of ultra-light alloys that are potentially unsafe but fuck it, being a space man is unsafe.
not watching firefly is like not watching cowboy bebop it's missing out on one of the coolest things in entertainment in general
I even watched Bebop with my mother. That's saying something
I love everything about the Mustang, from the great cockpit view, the silhouette, the fact that it's made of ultra-light alloys that are potentially unsafe but fuck it, being a space man is unsafe.
even the off-CoM primary thrusters that require firing the top fore maneuvering thrusters every time it accelerates forward to keep it from pitching up?
I like how every variant of the Mustang has that unmanned laser turret. It's simple, very effective, and being able to aim freely is a huge advantage, especially compared to the fixed guns on the other starter ships.
The Gamma and Omega only have two fixed wing guns; then again they're racers.
I'm enjoying the Avenger... If it wasn't for the constant g-loc glitch which forces me to slow right the way down and not touch the steering ...or pass out mid dogfight.
I made more terrible videos you should all watch them then like then comment then subscrib. or not that's fine too
how come the F7C-M is not for sale?
how come the F7C-M is not for sale?
It's always been limited sale only. Got to wait for next major sale.
It's always been limited sale only. Got to wait for next major sale.
will the m50 interceptor ever return
Yes. Periodically, CIG brings certain ships back into the store for a limited time, typically 11 days covering Friday until the second Monday morning when they come back into the office to turn the sale off. This gets two weekends in. When the next sale is, that's an unknown, but keep an eye out for it. This thread'll always have it noted, usually by me. dai seems active about changing the title lately so that'll probably be a clue. [editline]ptu[/editline] PTU 2.1.0e is live. Highlights:
- We are aware that the elevator UI frequently provides a false-positive “server full” error message when attempting to join an instance. We are investigating the cause of these errors. - Fixed an issue where the Vanguard was missing it’s bathroom door. - Made several improvements to turret movement speed. We are still in the process of making other improvements to turrets. - Fixed an issue where ship weapons were not functional after having been repaired.

01:24 – New Details 05:30 – Battlefield Medic 08:25 – The Next Great Star Citizen Writer 10:57 – Pilot Armor 13:22 – Citizenship after SQ42 15:28 – Designing PowerArmor 19:24 – Item Ports System 23:40 – Mark Hamill 25:38 – Leveraging Assets 28:40 – UEC’s Move Away From Paper Money
I'm a little uneasy about their point on medic indicators, less because of the potential for assholes to use it as cover to get close, but more because of all the wannabe hardass dickbacks who boast about making medic ships and news reporters 100% shoot-on-sight because of that chance

The Traders passing through was great though... on a long deployment alliance command and logistics would be fucking dickbags and set the market prices to SKY GODDAMN HIGH to "Fund the war effort!" (really so they could line their pockets and buy shiny shit for their carebear alts fuckers) so mr trader in a neutral jump freighter was neat and a great way to stock up but noooooooo fuck eve still triggers me 4 months in the fucking arse-end of Delve as a little vassal of the goon empire protecting space they didn't even give a fuck about. I loved that game, and I so loved how complex and in-depth it got, but it was so in-depth that I got sucked in and lost 4 months of my life (which was great fun but man my senior year grades) That sort of emergent gameplay and the evolving storylines and history of EvE are why I'm so hyped for this game. I really really really hope they go balls-out on making the instances fuckhuge and tying everyone into one core server [editline]11th January 2016[/editline] There better be a Jita for me to scam in (made 2bil off one scam and got so many killrights/bounties :D )
This is a long video, but it's an "outsider" from the flight sim community making first contact with the all-new 2016 Christ Robots experience, and he makes an interesting point about comparing ship purchases to flight sim plane purchases. Interested to see how a newcomer from the flight sim world approaches SC now (without suffering through the long dry spell over most of 2015 and the big 1.0 anti-launch, etc). I can't wait for when he finds out that, eventually, you will be able to invite other people into your hangar. :v:
I even watched Bebop with my mother. That's saying something
Whats so good about bebop? Seems like standard japanese anime to me.
Whats so good about bebop? Seems like standard japanese anime to me.
It's one of those serious animes that have an interesting story, setting, and music to match. It's a great show if you like sci-fi anything.

A lot of the people who complain about the ship pricing, focus on immersion and the first-person universe seem to be missing the point that the game is a sim and things aren't just going to be done in a traditional video-game way.
so as someone who's been following this game from a respectable distance to avoid potential heartbreak, will there be any sort of law in deep space or will it be more like Rust where anyone and everyone you meet out in the wild probably wants your butt?
