At the December livestream, we announced that Squadron 42 and Star Citizen will be split into two separate packages in the near future. To update on this: the split will occur on February 14th. Squadron 42 will be available as either a stand alone game or an optional addon for Star Citizen rather than be included by default. If you want to lock in both games for the lowest possible price, consider pledging before this deadline. You can learn more about Squadron 42, our thrilling single-player adventure, here.
where's the census did I miss results
Not yet. Results pending me figuring out Sheets' bs properly. I haven't messed with spreadsheets in any serious way since Grade 10 (and then we only had relatively simple queries and the teacher was more interested in surfing the net on the only T1 line in the classroom rather than actually help us with our classwork).
The results'll be in the OP when I post them, even if you somehow miss the mid-thread post.
what exactly is your problem with the sheet? just make the raw data public or something
Unless everyone's cool with me releasing the straight raw data I'll anonymize the sheet just in case (someone might not want their ship list to be publicly searchable) but I will release the survey raw data.
But I want to try and find interesting data out of it and make neat little charts to represent them, like, of the people who are at their spending limit or may be at it, how many different ships do they own? Is there any interesting patterns regarding owning the "best" ships (like the SH) compared to more utility-based ones? etc.
And the 'problem' with the sheet is that I need to find the motivation and distraction-free time to stop doing anything fun and go learn how to actually make graphs from the data. I'll likely need to extract and reformulate the data for these other displays, but the raw data itself is kind of interesting.
About 75% believe that Vega II was a conspiracy; one person actually changed their response to yes after submitting their choices, and I'm kind of interested to know why so I might ask them sometime.
If nobody cares about fancifying the results and just wants to see the raw spreadsheet, rate this post Useful so I know I'm being a tool while sitting on the data for days. Rate clocks if you're okay with waiting a bit longer. Or rate whatever you want/don't rate at all instead, I'm not your dad.
"Campaign bundled free"
So... if I pledged a Mustang Alpha months ago, do I have it?
Did we ever get an update about the Khartu's progress? I thought they mentioned shooting for hangar ready by the end of the month.

January? I hadn't heard that. As far as I know, they'll make the Sabre flyable next, and the Reliant either incidental to or right after that. And then comes the Scout, which'll probably become hangar and then flight-ready in quick succession. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get a flyable Starfarer around the same time as the Khartu-al.

How's the data sorted? Could probably process it really fast in MATLAB for you if you like. Could use the practice too, think I have a quiz this week on data visualization
Here is the raw data with usernames and datestamps removed. The reason I'm not including the usernames right now is because when I posted the census I set the expectation that I wasn't going to post them with the data. While I'm sure almost everyone doesn't care, I'd rather not take the chance of upsetting the one person who really does care and wouldn't have participated in the census if they knew I was going to make the entire dataset public.
Also, I have removed the 'garry' entry because it's likely not actually garry. If you DID participate in the survey, garry, please let me know and I will reinstate the entry.
garry's baby was actually a javelin this whole time
just [del]cum[/del] money in [del]a vag[/del] RSI and it happens
It's really easy to make a Javelin, you just stick your credit card in the slot enough times and it happens.
I wouldn't be surprised if garry actually bought a Completionist package, since he's rich enough to not have to give a fuck, but for the purposes of the thread it's just going to throw the data off. :v:

If I still had it, I would. But I only saved after I applied the postprocessing. Next time!
If you're wondering, though, here are a bunch of sound clips I've recorded with no post save noise cancellation.

omg how haven't i heard your voice before
nice blues-y jazzy stuff if I wasn't so shit at the whole music thing I'd love to use your voice in a liquid funk track since its such a pain in the ass to find fitting acapella tracks :/

Hey, it could be fun. If you do decide to throw something together, let me know. No guarantees I sound as good musically as I do speaking, but it's worth a shot.

I'll let you know <3. Similarly, if you want help adding musical themes to your stuff let me know. Snippets for your YT project or auditions are easy to throw together- bigger stuff I'd need a bit of time, of course. I've got those fancy schmancy audio libraries for cinematics/film and since I'm scoring an FP'ers film I'm starting to actually learn how to use them :v:

I do hope that Star Citizen will give us some good tools for video editing - Their game's too gorgeous to waste such potential. Working together with your sound mixing and editing skills, and the voices of myself and other actors, we could make something beautiful together. Thanks for the compliment. I've been messing around with recordings for almost two years now, but I still feel warm and fuzzy when someone takes notice. :v:

I'm just gonna quote what I said on another thread.
Isn't the game still far from being done? Last time I checked ppl were whining about how the game performed on AMD rigs and someother stuff.

I'm just gonna quote what I said on another thread.
Yes and no. Check the thread OP for the Alpha 2.0 trailer - we're now on Alpha 2.1.2 with the Freelancer flyable and two more ships competing to become flight-ready.
As far as being an actual game with persistence and saved progress, yyyyes at the moment it's still not done by a good amount, but persistence (and the first implementation of the economy system) is being worked on for release fairly soon, which in Star Citizen time means probably within the next 3 months.
Performance is at once not that great but also significantly improved from where it was when Alpha 2.0.0 dropped and had zero range checking on synchronizing everyone in the server on what everyone else was doing (even if they were 400,000km away).
Here is the list of playable features available right now. While there isn't much in terms of pure content (you can see everything there is to see, aside from random player shenanigans, in one afternoon if the client doesn't crash on you), this represents about 75% of the foundation tech for the game. The map could be extended to be a cube 8 billion kilometers per side but it'd be filled with nothing outside of a tiny 1mil km box so they haven't done that.
If they added shopping (UI files are already in the live builds where dataminers can find them), made buying and swapping ship parts something you can do from within the game instance, and filled the mission system with content, they could basically replicate the basics of Elite: Dangerous right now and would have fps/EVA functionality on top. The only thing that'd be missing then is multiple star systems and a way of transitioning between them, which would be mainly an issue of building out content and then rigging a placeholder jump-to-system function (the intended plan for intersystem travel, wormholes named Jump Points, is more complex and will take longer to get ready).
This is just a random video that I found at the top of the search results, but this is current live gameplay:

So, yes, it's still far from being done, but they've made monumental leaps in the last three months. The end of November/beginning of December saw the large-world and multicrew tech drop, and that had been in the works for a year and a half or longer.
Seems cool, I'll keep an eye on this thread for the updates for a while and then decide whether I'm gonna chip in or not. I tried the dogfight module and it ran pretty bad on my PC hence why I asked about the performance.

There's a free week on right now with three ships and all available game modes unlocked for all accounts. All you need to do is register and download, no promo codes, no money down, no giving them your CC, nothing. However, the min system specs are not fucking around, so pay attention before you download 30GB.
If you do decide to register, grab your favourite FP member's referral code from the top of the thread OP (I'm going to specifically ask that you not use mine and pick someone else, spread the love around to the others). You get 5000 credits ($5 worth) in-game and I suggest you save it for when the economy goes live because there's nothing worth spending it on now, and if/when you decide to actually buy in, if you spend more than $40 on a package whoever you referred gets credited for the referral on the little point ladder they have.
I think you can see why I didn't want to answer you in the GTA thread. :v:
Oh well it seems like the free event's over now since it's already the 1st of feb here :speechless:
I also activated The Rizzler's referral code since you've asked me not to use yours and he's the only one one that I've seen before.
EDIT: Guess I'll wait for another trial event before purchasing the game.
It's not until February 1st, because as of two days ago it was for "the next week". Unless something's screwed up, you should be able to just register and then go to the download page (linked at the bottom on the site if you didn't get funneled there by the registration flow).
It keeps redirecting me to this page whenever I follow those steps.

I didn't pay really close attention to the green banner at the top, but looking at the SC subreddit, it looks like CIG fucked up and some wires got crossed.
Thanks, CIG. [del]Now I'm gonna go get dai to change the title of the Gillian Anderson interview thread in videos so I'm not a liar.[/del] :pudge:
That sucks.
