How people play this game? I tried the free game until 20, and getting more than 25 fps is a miracle, even on low. I have 290x and i5 4590, and according to benchmarks I should get more like 50-60. But probably in space alone, because on station I get 25 fps, as low as 15fps.
Are you on Port Olisar? Performance is there is abysmal because there's no proper 'occlusion' (closest word I can think of) yet - you are always receiving data for the environment and players no matter how distant they are. I seriously struggle to reach 25 FPS on Olisar with a GTX 760 and a i5 2500k, but I can usually get 40+ on the Arena Commander maps (until my shields flare and my FPS plummets, wtf)

Still pretty amazing when you consider that the Cryengine couldn't handle more than 4km3 when CIG got started. Motion blur is out of control so even if you only use that one line from my user.cfg you should see less slogging. [editline]g[/editline] From the forums, this tidbit in a discussion about the Vanguard's handling being reported by players as wrong:
We're midway through a ship tuning refactor... Part of the refactor that's taking place is a move away from set thruster capacities and toward a model where all thrust is generated by the main engine and shunted to the individual thrusters which act as conduits. So the thrust capacities that are currently in the thrusters are really being phased out. At the moment, there are scales that are used that allow designers to define performance goals for each ship per axis. When this is all finished, it'll be possible for the designer to specify how fast a ship should accelerate on each axis independently, both linearly and rotationally, and IFCS will determine the thrust level calibrations for a reference thruster set in order to achieve the desired performance goals. Then different thrusters will have higher or lower efficiencies relative to this reference thruster set, so as you upgrade your thrusters, you'll increase your ship's performance.
Be interesting to see if the Mustang Omega can fly in a straight line after the refactor. :v:
Could someone explain to me how purchasing weapons and such works? If I buy them with REC does it rent them for a block of time like ships? If I purchase with UEC does it permanently unlock that weapon?
yes, and don't touch your UEC
Everything REC works the same. You can use REC items in Port Olisar without them triggering a token use, too, so REC items are effectively free to use as much as you want in Olisar as long as you don't load into a ship in Arena Commander.

I wish the Scythe/Glaive blade had a function beyond "make your ship 5m longer" I rammed an empty Connie like 5 times with blades out and the only result was my death and the other ship spinning intact in the distance
I don't think I've ever had an impact death while flying glaive. I also noticed similar frontal strength/raw luck with the sabre, though I haven't actively sought out ramming people with it yet. Would be cool if that's an intended hidden feature, given the blade on the leading edge of the body [t]http://i.imgur.com/O7XdKAE.jpg[/t]
This week's schedule is about normal: - Monday: 10ftC - Tuesday: Vault update, lore post - Wednesday: Bugsmaaaassherrrs, Jump Point rerun - Thursday: AtV - Friday: RtV, concept sale that isn't the Esperia Prowler Unless the Drake Dragonfly went through the concept art cycle that quickly, I don't know what it is. It's almost guaranteed not the Drake Buccaneer, damn sure it isn't the Polaris, but it could be the small mining ship that was confirmed on RtV recently. It is apparently not a hull-limited concept or a huge-like-Reclaimer ship that's going to cost hundreds, at the very least.
The Aegis let's-reuse-Retaliator-parts-for-the-third-time ofc (wasn't the terrapin supposed to be a miner?)
The Aegis let's-reuse-Retaliator-parts-for-the-third-time ofc (wasn't the terrapin supposed to be a miner?)
The Aegis Terrapin was basically an armoured tank of a ship, and the concept blurb called out its use by miners. However, as of a while ago, Terrapin was confirmed for kill since it had lost the concept poll. (Then again so did the Dragonfly, CR said he liked and wanted the Dragonfly, then for most of 2015 RtV was "no, no Dragonfly", and here we are with Dragonfly confirmed. Sooooo Schrodinger's Terrapin) It is unknown if the mining ship is the Terrapin concept or a different design (maybe not so much on the armoured turtle aspect and more on the "I'm a Hull B with a giant ore scoop" end of things or something).
Maybe it's the Volper? Fingers crossed.
I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that the Volper is not for pledging. But, weirder shit has happened before and CIG's changed its mind about more important things, so who knows until the reveal. Meanwhile, all aboard the Smart Cart as he tries to personal army the Escapist again by digging up old "drama" regarding Rob Irving. Sad.

Did you apply the upgrade in the hangar after getting it? You have to click Apply Upgrade and then select your 300i (which is still clearly there instead of turning into a Sabre) and confirm the upgrade. It doesn't automatically apply because that could have unwanted results if you had, say, three 300i and wanted one NOT on a package to get upgraded or w/e.

to clarify- go to 'hangar' page, then expand the pledge to find the apply button [t]http://i.imgur.com/CFxEFI4.png[/t] then make sure to click on the ship in the next menu to confirm that's what you want to upgrade.

further Glaive thoughts: thrusters are U S E L E S S
So I recently tried out Star Citizen and I absolutely love it. (Sad I cant purchase glave tho) Should I grab the 60 dollar pack? If so, Aurora or Mustang?
Mustang is better value for your dollar should you decide to upgrade later (it's a $30 hull vs the $25 Aurora) but ultimately each ship has its pros and cons Aurora is a durable utility/multipurpose ship with weapons primarily mounted for self defense, in 2020 or whenever PU hits it'll be fairly versatile and capable of short-range exploration, light hauling, etc Mustang is fast, lightly armored, and combat focused with a twin mount chin turret and two empty wing hardpoints (that isn't to say it can't be adapted for utility as well, just that it'll be worse than the MR in non-combat roles) in the current combat-focused alpha the Mustang has a slight edge, but never underestimate what you can do in an Aurora
I'd try them both out in the free-fly (good until the 20th) and decide from there.
also you have all the ships rn, so try both out and pick which one you like better [editline]15th March 2016[/editline] congratulations elix, you were first for once

I fully expect Korro to mount Tali torpedos to the Drake Dragonfly the day it becomes flyable in a PTU build. Korro for fpcorp chief engineer and Chaplain of the Church of the Holy Relativistic Turnip.
