from the sound of it it might even be flight ready within a few weeks, as they're already talking about watching the quantum effect through the rec room windows, and adding specific landing pads and repair platforms in Crusader specifically for it

I love how immersive this game is. It takes me back to Star Wars Galaxies and being able to just go explore space on other people's ships, but much more immersion when it comes to gameplay.
I don't know what I'll do with my life when this game comes out fully.

An M50 seems like it'd just waste space. I'm sure you could fit at least 5 P-52 Merlins in there instead, much more efficient.

it's not arbitrary though. as others have said vanduul are hostile and their ships self destruct. xian and banu shit is literally made to export so it's readily available
no one said they were priced solely off of rarity. the $ prices are a reflection of IN GAME PRICES which takes into account size, complexity, quality etc, but also supply and demand.
it would actually be really retarded not to do this since certain ships would end up being 'better value' to pledge for ie. constellation $250 => 250,000 credits, blade $150 => 250,000 credits; pledge for a blade now and trade it for a connie in-game to save 100 bucks
it's actually your own assumption that all alien ships should be equal for some reason that is completely arbitrary

Even better than that would be to turn the gravity off in the cargo hold and fit in as many players as possible, who are all equipped with swords.

Have all of them brace with their feet against the forward wall, then reverse the ship towards the enemy really fast and slam on the brakes, with the cargo door open.
The pirates would see a swarm of EVA-suited guys coming at them with swords, and would shit their pants.

Actually, why even bother with the EVA suits? It's not like you're going to pick them all up again after. Just throw them out all once and hopefully some of them don't miss the target completely and survive long enough hit the other ship with their [del]sword[/del] fists a few times. If that doesn't work, the large amount of players to fly through should at least slow down the other ship for a few seconds.
You could even send them out at at a time as a brief distraction.

problem with fitting m50 anywhere is the wings have a permanent wide span, whereas the merlin's wings are already stubbier and fold up, which would let you stack them closer together, but also fit through tighter doors given they're about the same height as the m50
also you can have like 5 merlins for the cost of one m50
