I'm hoping the Corvette, whenever they come out with it, will be a relatively affordable (Compared to the Idris) capital ship with the ability to launch at least one or two Hornet-sized fighters. I need a mobile base of operations for my little bounty hunter corps.
We've seen the opposite ends of ship scales from small personal craft to carriers, but I'm interested in seeing what the mid range vessels, i.e cruisers are like. Hopefully they don't just skip them and go from frigates to Bengals.

Hopefully they don't just skip them and go from frigates to Bengals.
It is a personal hope that they do make larger vessels that are less modernized, and hopefully more affordable in contrast to what one may normally expect. Still, if such is not an option, I do certainly hope to obtain an Idris to serve as a home-ship of sorts <.<
Yeah, wouldn't mind flying a junker so long as it could get the job done and held together reasonably well.
what if everyone up/downgrades to starfarers next patch then we'll just have a bunch of flying apartment blocks with no one to crew them (at least I'll be ~~~special~~~ in my Aegis master race Gemini)
what if everyone up/downgrades to starfarers next patch then we'll just have a bunch of flying apartment blocks with no one to crew them (at least I'll be ~~~special~~~ in my Aegis master race Gemini)
The Gemini doesn't have anything to do with Aegis, though? [editline]20th March 2016[/editline] When they say the Starfarer Gemini will have a reduced cargo/fuel capacity, I hope they're talking about the pylons that can hold either fuel tanks or cargo containers. I'd much prefer the Gemini's main bay on the inside to be the same size.
It does though the interior will be done by Aegis (using hacked-together Tali/Idris corridors I'm sure) and the 10 million MISC badges will be replaced by Aegis triangles check the Q&A from last year [editline]20th March 2016[/editline] like seriously why does MISC feel like spamming their logo on every possible flat surface like I get it, it's a MISC ship, but you don't see BOEING BOEING BOEING BOEING written everywhere on 747s
I'm really tempted to tamper with the survey data so it temporarily reads that everyone melted down everything for Starfarers. :v: But nah, that's a lot of data manipulation for a joke and I am lazy. From Sandi's fb: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ufd4rwn.png[/t]
"Good question! In our lore, MISC builds the basic chassis of all Starfarers. If this chassis is to become a standard Starfarer, it’s completed in the MISC factory. If it’s being adapted by the military, it’s shipped off to Aegis for completion. (This is based on real life civilian aircraft which are often completed by military contractors for use as sub hunters, AWACs planes, etc.) The formal badge on the Gemini will read Aegis Dynamics, although you can rest assured a great deal of MISC work went into the ship!" "Most of the cargo reduction on the Starfarer Gemini is because of changes to the internals, where it will mount more reinforced bulkheads and larger military-related equipment." smaller bay but equal external capacity (makes complete sense since it's supposed to be a mid-flight refueler) [editline]20th March 2016[/editline] "You will ultimately see some Aegis styling in the larger, Gemini-unique components (such as the main engine) and the internals (which are finished completely by Aegis.)"

Star Citizen keeps crashing on the splash screen, and I can't find anything to fix it, I verified it, deleted the user folder, etc, nothings working.
Star Citizen keeps crashing on the splash screen, and I can't find anything to fix it, I verified it, deleted the user folder, etc, nothings working.
Try making a different Windows user profile; if the Windows firewall is enabled either temp-disable it or set/re-set an exception for SC, too. For lack of knowing anything else about the crash stuation, I'd start with those. I assume you've rebooted.
for some reason someone bought a area at the Sci-fi convention in second life to advertise star citizen and their referral code [t]http://i.imgur.com/GVqQMIk.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/KywulwY.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/8zmaEGt.png[/t]
Ken Fairclough's artstation posted these today: [t]https://cdn0.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/002/192/428/large/ken-fairclough-crusader-lookfeel-final-alternate.jpg?1458502321[/t] [t]https://cdn2.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/002/192/446/large/ken-fairclough-crusader-commercialplatform-callouts1.jpg?1458502074[/t] [t]https://cdn3.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/002/192/451/large/ken-fairclough-crusader-constructionplatform-callouts1.jpg?1458502080[/t] Crusader's Orison landing zone being concepted, yeeee.
did they ever explain how they're going to deal with the wind and then breathing atmosphere?
The upper atmosphere of Crusader is breathable and habitable. It conveniently worked out like that. Winds, that's an open question.
Because Bespin.
The upper atmosphere of Crusader is breathable and habitable. It conveniently worked out like that. Winds, that's an open question.
Not actually that unrealistic. Venus's upper atmosphere would be a nice place if not for the sulfuric acid vapor.
Not actually that unrealistic. Venus's upper atmosphere would be a nice place if not for the sulfuric acid vapor.
that'd be great if this were venus instead of a gas giant, and also the fact it's noted in the description that artist gave that Crusader's atmosphere was terraformed, meaning it was probably oxygen rich but they had to do something to balance how much oxygen there was for optimal human habitation, or remove certain contents from the air so it's not poisonous/acidic I don't claim to know how terraforming works at all but something something 1000 years future space faring colonial civilization technology
SC is intended to be more like living in a space movie rather than living in a space sim. So sometimes the best answer really is just that good old standby,
It's the 30th Century, stfu
Poor old bastard's starting to lose it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/JcmQgBj.png[/t] The video he's linking to refers to untangling Gawker so it can be investigated, and he specifically timecodes to a part that discusses reporting requirements of UK companies. This seems scary but all it is annual taxation forms for private companies; DS is still fantasizing that a) CIG is imminently collapsing, and b) he will be invited to help run the official investigation into CIG's collapse, c) and that includes total access to its confidential financials. He previously posted about his fantasies of personally deposing Sandi. Derek you're married and so is she, stop thinking of another man's wife that way. :v:
hulk took down gawker now it is time for him to face the biggest challenge of his career, cloud imperium games
hulk took down gawker now it is time for him to face the biggest challenge of his career, cloud imperium games
The irony is that if DS somehow acquired a sextape involving anyone from CIG [sp]especially Ben. Lesnick bby i l u but that can stay between you and your wife[/sp] I'm sure he would publish it without hesitation and somehow try and imply that the recorded fuck somehow cost a ton of backer money. (The resulting lawsuit would be from the victim as an individual, not CIG corporate, so he still wouldn't get access to CIG's financials like he wants, it'd just be his turn to be Gawkered.) DS also made a video (comments disabled, lol) of him walking around one of the space stations in LoD to show it off. Everything is blue with nearly no contrasting colours, he gets lost repeatedly in the samey giant hallways filled with nothing, and his character's the size of a carton of milk to make the scale look huge. But all of that's normal; what's abnormal about this video is that he sounds defeated; he's missing the swagger and bravado of his Starguard video and his other stuff, and is lacking the enthusiasm and volume one should expect from Dr. Dr. Dr. Smart. Reddit theorizes that the Starfarer walkthrough was a far bigger blow to DS than he let on, and that when the 'farer becomes flyable it'll double it down that much harder on DS. Remember that he stridently and repeatedly claimed CIG doesn't have the tech for any of this...and somehow they're still pushing out new builds that fairly work. :goodjob: It's working just as Chris said last year; CIG/CR doesn't need to respond to Derek (unless he gets journalists to publish libel hitpieces), all they have to do is focus on making Star Citizen and the game will speak for itself. DS can only shit on SC and claim it can't be done...and then CIG goes ahead and does it and makes DS look like a chump without having to even make eye contact. Meanwhile, DS' own work ...speaks for itself in quite a different way.

Looks really cool, though all the other non-special stations that are almost as low have no thrusters. :v: [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/lRwj_Vu80m0/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]
Any word on updates to the test build?
There've been no announcements of any PTU builds being greenlit by QA today, no.
00:49 – Best Part of Development 01:54 – Currently Working On 03:18 – Successful Ship 04:18 – Optimization 06:13 – Realism vs Function 07:34 – LODs 08:52 – Caterpillar Benchmark 12:15 – Ship Pipeline 15:17 – Customizing Ships 19:54 – Damage State
And there are still a number of questions about Crusader's landing zone(s) that haven't been answered yet. Although since we have artificial gravity and tractor beams I'm sure someone's figured out how to make levitation shit, even if it's only practical in megascale like that. Who knows. It's the 30th century, stfu.
it's dangling by a spacerope tied to a geosynchronous asteroid of equal weight to the station
what's levitating in crusader?
what's levitating in crusader?
The entire landing zone, since they're floating platforms in the habitable upper atmosphere of the gas giant. It's mainly for shipyards to take advantage of the tiny delta-v to get into space while still being in atmo during construction.
