Fingers crossed. I haven't yet been able to play.
Sadly my laptop is effectively dead graphics wise, but like hell if I don't give it a shot anyway when live arrives
I wonder how much it'll cost me to use a Queens of the Stone Age track in a YouTube video. If I didn't intend to monetize it, even. 'Cause I want to use "You think I ain't worth a dollar but I feel like a millionaire" to make a video about Star Citizen when it's got more meat on its bones.
That sounds good, but it means I'll have to stick around the bubble long enough to actually play with people, lol. I'm still 2500ly away in the middle of nowhere and haven't turned back yet. As soon as I got a B-rank FSD and the detailed surface scanner and advanced D Scanner, the exploration bug bit me and I've spent less than 36 hours inside the bubble since.
I'll definitely hold off on any upgrades until I give it a go on a fresh restart. It's just crazy, I just watched a video during my lunch of a 270x running the game on Ultra from about 6 months ago... I left a comment asking what he's got system wise for comparison, I'm interested to see if he respond. Just lmk when you make it back to the bubble and maybe we can rendezvous! I've thought about trying exploration... I would think it's kind of peaceful. I may have to look into picking up a good ship and trying it out! Right now, I spend most of my time at RES points bounty hunting AI. Woohoo for the 2.0 possibility tonight... fingers crossed!
2.0 for Live later today was just confirmed on stream. [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] Not to post consecutively too much, but Patch M is now on PTU, iirc if it's stable 2.0 will hit Live in around an hour.
New PTU patch just dropped, while I was playing an incredibly stable session, though pirate ship sync was pretty wonky. -snipwellfuck- Be sure to update, verify, [del]Like comment and subscribe[/del] and delete your USER folder as per the usual. Didn't seem to be a very big patch, only took a couple minutes to DL @ 6MBps or so
New PTU patch just dropped, while I was playing an incredibly stable session, though pirate ship sync was pretty wonky.
That was last patch
Social Module/Persistent Universe: Fixes: Gameplay Fixed a client crash that would occur when leaving a party, creating another party and make a member of that party the leader. Technical Implemented some additional fixes for the server performance bottleneck that would happen at extremely high instance activity.
New patch notes don't appear until you've restarted your launcher.
delete your USER folder as per the usual.
Being new, is this going to be something I need to do when 2.0 hits public server? Do I delete before patch or after?
Being new, is this going to be something I need to do when 2.0 hits public server? Do I delete before patch or after?
either way. It's re-generated when you launch the game, it's just the config files related to your settings. Whether it's necessary for the live push, I doubt it. It felt like a weird placebo fix in the first place, to make people feel like they were doing something about the crashes
either way. It's re-generated when you launch the game, it's just the config files related to your settings. Whether it's necessary for the live push, I doubt it. It felt like a weird placebo fix in the first place, to make people feel like they were doing something about the crashes
I can confirm it was effective for me, especially if you deleted it before each launch(not just after a reinstall). Out of like 10-20 tries during one of the versions only the 3 i deleted the user folder before lasted more than 20 minutes and the rest were mostly under 5.
Ungh, live, those four letters never sounded so glorious.
either way. It's re-generated when you launch the game, it's just the config files related to your settings. Whether it's necessary for the live push, I doubt it. It felt like a weird placebo fix in the first place, to make people feel like they were doing something about the crashes
With 2.0.0b, invalid XML fragments in the USER folder were actually causing other clients to crash. Deleting the USER folder is also healthy practice from update to update anyway, or at the very least deleting the (username)_inventory.xml file because it's the typical source of data corruption. And deleting USER/the inventory XML is very much a fix when you spawn a ship in space and it's missing its engines and radar ball, so I don't see why it couldn't be a legit fix for weird PTU issues. Now, at this point in the PTU patches it's probably good hygiene more than a specific crash fix, but it helps take one variable out of the way for QA to consider when reading Issue Council reports.
I just recently bought a GTX 970, apparently with perfect timing for 2.0 :v:
The PTU is heavily CPU bound on my machine (3570k, 770GTX, 16GB DDR3), so while it won't hurt to have a good graphics card, don't be surprised if it still runs like shit. You should be able to run Arena Commander type stuff amazingly well though, that's been super optimized and now runs great. [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] I'm kinda skeptical on if it's wise to go live today given how unstable and buggy everything is, but that's never stopped CIG before. All I'll say is that if anybody was around when Arena Commander was first released, to expect that level of bugginess and instability. When PTU testers are talking about how stable it is now, their baseline was the game crashing literally minutes after loading the map, after spending 5 minutes trying and failing to load the map in the first place.
I need to upgrade my CPU sooner than later, but have no idea what to even look into nowadays [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] update: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/303239/downtime-at-6pm-cst-12am-gmt-2-0-0-publish-to-live tl;dr DOWNTIME at 6PM Central (1h after this post), downtime should last maybe 10 minutes, and then it's 2.0 LIVE
I'm going to try and patch over my PTU install and see if that'll save me some downloading. Not that it really matters after the ~100GB I've downloaded in PTU patches. And I think I'll keep the install on my SSD going forward, because it made such a huge difference with Port Olisar that I can't see myself going back in. Anyone want to bet me that the Connie and Tali won't be available for REC before the new year? :v:
Could you perhaps also talk to the team about finally getting us some new material of how the BMM currently looks? The ship stats-page states that the exterior modelling phase for the BMM is completed, so CIG should be able to at least show us the hull design as it stands now, shouldn't they? =)

That's actually NOT what the Ship Status page says, unfortunately. It reads: IN CONCEPT - Hull concept complete. That means the Concept Artist has created all the pictures you already have. That's as far as development on the Merchantman has progressed. We haven't started building it yet because the priority is ships for Squadron 42 and Arena Commander. It's time will come. =)
I understand Banu MM owners want to see their baby and it's been quite a long time since it was up for concept sale, but so much of the RSI forums lose track of reality so often it's not worth going there.
what's the final size of the 2.0 folder?
2.0 PTU is ~30GB, live release should be the same.
Hopefully the launch goes smoothly [sp]lol it won't[/sp] From what I saw of the latest builds, stability has been pretty great, haven't crashed out yet (though I did get a bug where i had to restart to get rid of it) Hopefully private instances are not far behind on the launch schedule, we need to do an FP corp multicrew pirate hunt.
just got word that the Starfarer and Caterpillar are going to be testbeds for 'large' multicrew ships, so they're on the slate for soonsoon
I understand Banu MM owners want to see their baby and it's been quite a long time since it was up for concept sale, but so much of the RSI forums lose track of reality so often it's not worth going there.
MM owners need to shut the fuck up. I love the look of the ship too but it's a newer concept, despite what they say it doesn't have a high ownership, and it doesn't have relevance to either sq42 or the current state of game dev. it is a LOW priority
gr8 i gotta choose now to switch to a dur or keep the 350r right now because ship upgrades go away in 2.0 Sanic or exploration is a tough choice cuz i like both
2.0 Is live, go go. Changelog is a bit too big for a quote
Ship upgrades go away when the Persistent Universe hits beta, so, no, you don't. This is still Alpha 2.0. If I'm wrong, please show me where a CIG staff said this, because if CCU tokens close up shop now without warning, that's massive and CIG are going to spend three months fixing the shitstorm that's about to hit. It'd obliterate any good thing that's going to happen on the Wednesday livestream, and CIG has promised us pants-shitting reveals and surprises on that stream so I can't imagine they'd poison their own community immediately beforehand. [sp]DS would be thrilled if they did[/sp]

meanwhile at the SC discord [t]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/12/12/2015-12-12_00-06-21.png[/t]
Installing the live build now. The download's supposedly going to take a few hours.
oh ok, i read somewhere that 2.0 is where they take em away somewhere but i can't find it so i guess i read it wrong.
I mean, you're not completely off-track. This is on every CCU token page on the site (if you go to the store page for the upgrade and not just the X->Y upgrade token selector): Copying PTU over and verifying it worked great. I'm in 2.0 live! :D
Holy crap this is waaaaaaay more stable than the PTU. And a hell of a lot less buggy too. Maybe it's because I finally don't have to fly the Constellation and am using the single man ships, but wow what a difference this has been. I actually completed a mission too! I'm blown away by how well this is working.
also almost noone knows this, but you can create private chat channels and invite people there
So...is this free to play till the 14th? Also how graphically intensive is it?
