[t]http://a.pomf.cat/afpkud.png[/t] ready for space https://vine.co/v/iOhptnF5VvD
I cleaned it off for the picture :v: I actually sealed the deal today on moving to a 900sqft 2 bedroom apartment in the same complex from this 725sqft 1bed, making the second bedroom a proper fucking office and we'll have so much space to actually have things organized. had to move out of my old place in a hurry due to shitty landlord and shitty location (92 miles round trip daily commute!) and took the cheap option since the move and downsize from a house ~5x this size was KIND of costly in time, resource and disposal fees this also means I won't be under the beast air conditioning unit in the hallway, so talking on teamspeak isn't interrupted by WHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH for half hour intervals
ok so I had a problem with setting acceleration. The current go-to solution for a twinstick setup is to get these same sticks and use the broken/complicated 'T.A.R.G.E.T.' software to maybe set one to do some things with deadzones, but that doesn't work, and I've found another problem- the guy suggests that on your secondary stick (left for most people), you have side, forward/backward, and vertical strafe thrusters bound to tilt left/right, tilt forward/back, and twist. this sucked in general, primarily because strafe forward requires you to pull BACK on the stick, opposite of the motion you'd want it to. it was clumsy and even harder to do while trying to sidestrafe. "you'll get used to it :)" isn't an excuse for a poor layout so after a LOT of tinkering, I've found a solution, which is a hilariously intuitive change. Because I'm a lefty and did find the left stick more comfortable for normal stick maneuvers, the right stick is my offhand strafe stick. Instead of doing the weird forward backward dance for strafe/throttle, I changed the setting to twist axis for throttle up/down, and bound spacebrake to the trigger on that hand. it essentially works like a motorcycle handle throttle and brake after that, mapping forward/backward tilt to the vertical strafing made a surprising amount of sense. pull back and you go up, push forward and you go down. If you're moving forward, pulling back would move your ship's vector in the same direction pulling back on the main stick will move your reticle. It's surprisingly easy to line up my motions now now I just have to find a way to bind and remember all these blank buttons on the things
this sucked in general, primarily because strafe forward requires you to pull BACK on the stick
pretty sure there is a checkbox to invert the axis
pretty sure there is a checkbox to invert the axis
there's one checkbox for joyY, affects both sticks at once. even if it worked fine I think this is a far better layout, strafe up/down and side to side are both primarily used during flight whereas acceleration is a 'set it and forget it' thing. Having to balance moving the stick side to side while avoiding rocking forward and backward and twisting it for finer coordinated heading adjustment is awkward compared to just tilting the stick like you steer
So here's a story: Me, capgun and Korro got together yesterday and started playing around in Crusader. First went to Yela to collect some of the weapons you can find in the wreckage there. After that I decided that I wanted a laser assault rifle but Korro and capgun took both that spawned at the wreckage so we flew to the security station. Immediately after we warped in capgun mentions he's got other ships on radar. As soon as Korro said something about us doing a hot drop a Vanguard starts unloading on our ship. I opened up the cargo hold too early and got sucked out but what I witnessed was probably the most cinematic shit I've seen in this yet. I saw my Constellation fly away, missiles flying at it, capgun and Korro screaming. One of the missiles took out part of the engines. Korro screamed at capgun to warp out. The Vanguard eventually stopped shooting at it. Capgun was about to abandon ship as he feared it was about to explode but got his stuff together, warped out and repaired it. [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/cdscry.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/ccsomc.png[/IMG_thumb] Shortly after the first missile hit, you can see one of the engines drifting off into space. [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/wiyjcs.png[/IMG_thumb] That Vanguard really liked his missiles. It bothers me that nobody recorded this. Either way some more screenshots from yesterday. [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/cgdhlh.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/ajqshq.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/zyrgvg.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/zscdqt.png[/IMG_thumb] Two from Korro [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/wxcthe.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]https://a.pomf.cat/mbovai.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
my eyeballs exploded out of my cheeks [t]http://a.pomf.cat/jxzzkp.jpg[/t] I need to catch another FPCorp night yo also I really need to think on serious ship names again right now I'm at a rather joking list, with my racing P72 named P0700000000, and a bunch of snarky surveillance van aliases for the reliant mako. Then there's the matter of what truly is the spacepunch party bus. Probably whatever ship the group is on becomes the bus, like the president and air force one.
whatever my ship is its being called the flying brick

One day on the planet lasts 100 Xi’An years, which roughly equates to 128 Standard Earth Years. It is the custom in the Xi’An Empire for planets to be assigned a purpose and developed with only that purpose in mind. Kayfa II’s spiritual associations mean it was terra formed to be a place of peace, tranquility and meditation. Cultivated gardens and fields cover much of the surface with sacred temples built so that there would always be one on the horizon no matter where you look. The temples provide the bare minimum in resources and amenities for Xi’An monks pursuing the ultimate enlightenment in Li’Tova: spending a full day meditating on Kayfa II. To preserve the planet’s tranquility, Kayfa II has only one city, Su’Shora. The city has a small number of permanent residents, mainly government or religious officials and their support staff, who deal with visiting Xi’An tourists and religious pilgrims. Humans are welcomed but expected to adhere to the planet’s customs. Unless given special dispensation, Human visitors are also required to stay within the limits of the city.
#1 on the list of places for fpcorp to visit on a drunken Starliner tourism night. Let's see how many interspecies diplomatic incidents we cause. It's the system with the home planet of the Xi'An space plant, and it's actually pretty cool. Except for one thing: One day on Kayfa II (Tovaroh) takes 100 Xi'An years, or 128 Earth years -- and this somehow does not result in the dark half of the planet freezing constantly and killing everything on its side as it slowly rotates around back towards the terminator. Wonders of Xi'An technology I guess :poot: This week's lore post is a journalist at a UEE boot camp observing the intake of a transport full of new recruits and how the UEE officers taking command of them treat them and try and dissuade any pussies who are going to collapse and fuck up in danger and get everyone killed. Some of the gruesome stories of crew deaths that they try and scare the recruits with also probably serve as a very fine preview of what we can expect out of Squadron 42 even if you don't fuck up in your missions. TL;DR RIP every soldier you know This week, Mark shows us why Crusader performance currently (2.3.0) sucks major ass: Client/server object permissions fuckups as a result of the ongoing migration to server-side authority (a requirement for persistence) resulting in garbage objects like debris not being cleaned up and bloating the server to death over time. This means it's unlikely that there'll be a 2.3.2 before 2.4, unless they separate work between the two. I'm assuming they'll go all-hands on 2.4 instead of splitting work between 2.3.2 and 2.4 because 2.4 is a big one (if it does, in fact, include persistence, shopping, and flyable Starfarer/gas collecting). and they said Eve's pointlessly expensive space monocle was bad :vs:
and they said Eve's pointlessly expensive space monocle was bad :vs:
If you spend $1,000 specifically to get the top hat and monocle hangar decoration, I think all mocking should be aimed at you and almost none at CIG. It's clear who's the one with the problem.
looks like this monocle was a flat out $60 real money item with no other connotation [t]http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/evedied-1.jpg[/t] it looks like they introduced a system to break PLEX down to a dollar equivalent of store credits, but "you can earn it with gameplay" isn't really an excuse for high price cash store items. the SC thing is a reward for having backed the game for 1000+ prior to right now, it's not a thing you go and buy directly, just a random bonus as we enter the age of actually wearing shit on our characters
hop into the discord channel for shenanigans
wonder how mounting your throttle one sideways would go, so it's actually like a motorcycle throttle
I was just saying to elix, I need a way to bolt these into place in the very least. If I find a way to easily prop them up I wouldn't mind figuring out a symmetrical arrangement. I'm sure I'll look cool as heck [t]http://a.pomf.cat/zldnai.png[/t]

I got refunded back in November and haven't looked back at Star Citizen until now. I see they are talking about the fact they're rebuilding their back end and they're almost finished. Funny, they were doing that in November too! Any new gossip on the way? I notice Derek Smart is getting excited about some kind of "Extinction Level Event" as he's calling it, with regards to the development of SC. He's planning to release the information in about a fortnight
Any new gossip on the way? I notice Derek Smart is getting excited about some kind of "Extinction Level Event" as he's calling it, with regards to the development of SC. He's planning to release the information in about a fortnight
Anything Derek Smart says is releasing in "two weeks" will always be two weeks away whenever you ask. April 1st was supposed to be the E.L.E. and 11 executive-tier people are supposed to have quit (no evidence of this), CIG was supposed to be completely and utterly out of money (no evidence of this), and according to Derek Smart 2.x is in maintenance mode and 2.3 added nothing...despite it adding the beginnings of the player reputation/bounty system in preparation for persistence which is now in feature freeze for this month's patch, not to mention the flyable Xi'An Scout and the hangar-ready Starfarer (which is huge). Derek promised that there was going to be a YouTube livestream and all this fireworks... and then he was dead silent on Twitter all day except for a weaksauce link to a Goonwrathi countdown timer labeled "Star Citizen release countdown" that counts down 14 days and resets when you refresh the page. It was a total non-event, as it is every time Derek says something big is going to happen. He's running a FUD campaign with no action to back it up. Plus Derek was claiming pretty much the same thing back in October. He's on loop and being fed bullshit by goons. At this point he's a just human RSS feed nobody requested for goon photoshops. We generally don't talk about Derek much around here, too. He can't do anything except rant and huff and make shit up/repeat things goons tell him.
Everywhere else I can think of is an echo chamber that can't stand any form of criticism of their hundred dollar jpegs
The SC thread on SA is as cancerous as the RSI forum (and the RSI forum is cancer, make no mistake), just on the opposite side of the coin. It's just wall to wall bile and deliberately misleading hateposting. I actually can't stand to read the SA threads because of the negativity that almost leaks out of my monitor.
Everywhere else I can think of is an echo chamber that can't stand any form of criticism of their hundred dollar jpegs
you moderated this forum, you should know full well if you approach a thread (let alone the reddit or home forums) of anything with the "thousand dollar jpg" snark it's not gonna be well received in the end I hope things even out and it's left in a state where you'd reconsider picking it up. It's a rocky development, no questions about it, but it's also one of those things where development up to this point is usually something that's hidden internally and not even announced to the public til we reach roughly this point in the timeline, before going dark for a year and finally having a 'beta' a month or two before release if you ever want a direct answer on features and progress just drop a line here, if you couldn't tell elix is a walking wiki page and despite the walls of text looking like fanboy spazzing, he's very realistic with his expectations and understanding and doesn't sugarcoat things on the basis of wishful thinking [editline]e[/editline] I mean I'm also one to dig at the dumb shit as well but a lot of this shit is the usual "people turn to tribal fanboyism/antifanboyism and nobody wonders why the other side doesn't just agree with them" kind of deal. In my opinion SC development is in full swing right now, compared to october even. We should have some new news today to be excited about as well, the next build is a big step on persistence and adding some new ship mechanics. One of the huge things that's being lost though is that the single player stuff is all being done behind the scenes and isn't part of the public alpha access in any way shape or form outside of testing ship flight for dogfighting [editline]e[/editline] legitimate question (though if I haven't heard it from elix yet I don't know if the answer's out there), does derek get his money from disability? There's no way he's making any sort of living off his games, especially when he's spent the better part of the last several years just writing about start citizen and acting like he's got the insider scoop at every turn.
