the networking layer, is a mess, as is apparent when you play the game, and by Chris Roberts' own admission. You will never see a single big fight until they do, and there are no plans to improve on it, because the focus of next patch is...Shopping.
Not sure how shopping stops them from improving the netcode. Especially since the network engineers aren't the dedicated UI programmers who are working on shopping. And even then, shopping is a testbed for persistence.
Elix is definitely a nutjob, but he's our nutjob. Going back to the networking issues. You say networking is something that must be done before anything else is accomplished, and is more impossible to improve upon after the fact. Other MMOs such as EvE is still to my knowledge been using the same engine yet has made incredible leaps in networking, such as increasing the amount of players being able to participate(as in will actually work, however long it may take) from 500~ships up to 2-3k. While I'm no game developer, my understanding of it so far. CIG will have multiple teams working on different aspects of the game, engine, art, story, mechanics etc.
scaling it beyond its capabilities requires a rewrite
This is how Chris makes games. Remember damage modelling? Remember how they spent so much time making the damage models for the Scythe, Hornet, Aurora, 300i, with almost 400 individual pieces, before admitting it's stupidly impractical and doing everything with a texture system? They still started though, almost as if they were somehow forgetting they had really big ships in the game too. It speaks terribly of their management (Chris) who probably just said "I want super detailed damage, NOW! I don't care how you do it"
from 500~ships up to 2-3k.
Eve started in 2003. This growth doesn't really require incredible leaps in networking.

So I went and upgraded my gladius to a cutlas black due to that free $5. Normally I would have left it at the gladius but my arma 3 group are all following SS and have pledges so I said fuck it why not, we always play as a group so its a good ship for that.
Man, I went on an adventure to kareah today. Got my warlock stolen like it was downtown Detroit, shot a few guys with a laser rifle, shot a guy leaving his mustang, stole the mustang, killed a bunch more people with the rocket pods. Then crashed the mustang and got ejected out completely fine (???) and stole a Sabre, THEN used that to go to covalex and had a big 5 ship battle, then went BACK to kareah and got my shit blown up (again), went inside then had to fight 3 guys at the same time Free fly week is fun
Thinking of saving my 5 buxxx to go towards a Prospector(?), could do with a little mining barge in the fleet :v:
i love this thread not because i'm a sc fanboy and come here to circlejerk with my fellow $3000 account owners, nor because i'm a smartposter and come here to shit on the game just to get replies, but because i'm neither and it's always entertaining to see those two groups clashing. never change, 100 more pages of shitposting and no actual game discussion!! [sp]actually stop replying to posts you know will just cause drama tia[/sp]
Yeah, a bit of a by-product of the discord channel. We do a lot of discussion there (and some quality shitposting to each other) and this thread only really gets the "big info" like new updates and such. Usually there is one or two people chatting it up about SC.
Looks like somebody has digged up Ben Lesnick's old website which consists of a gallery of thousands of pictures of a news anchor as well as an IRC quote database which shows him to be a bit of a racist perve
no actual game discussion!!
isn't a game a prerequisite for game discussion
I find it exceedingly ironic that the most vocal of anti-SC shitposters deride fans for being too much into the game while simultaneously trying incredibly hard to dig up every single piece of negative ad-hominem information on the devs and the company [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] no, like seriously, why do you give so much of a shit, you're not going to accomplish anything but make the thread approach autolock faster :dogchill:

It's gossip and I find it amusing. I'm sure that your comment was directed towards me, but I fail to see how I'm shitposting. Or does a dissenting opinion make me a shitposter? Kerri-Lee is the news anchor he has thousands of pictures of
-Anyway, it turns out my mom taped the news for me while I was away, so I have like a week of Kerri-Lee to go through... #13,502 -Oh, I followed several women who looked sort of like Kerri-Lee around the science museum, but none of them turned out to be her:~( #13,846 -And with my position as Kerri-Lee of the CIC, cool knife AND uniform, I'll be the cult leader! #14,539 -As in "Over the Kerri-lee for the traffic, she's got great breasts.." #15,608 -What good is the world when I've no Kerri-Lee:~(? Of course, if I took over the world, I could have all the Kerri-Lee I wanted. The world it is, then, chaps. #17,284 -Wow, Kerri-Lee at the hardware store. I'd like to ware her... hard #19,478 -I have two pictures in frames on my desk at work: a picture of a spotted stingray marked 'Cat' and a printed glossy picture of Kerri-Lee. #20,382 <Byydo> some guys try to un-circumsize themselves by hanging weights from their penis <LOAF> !Kerri-Lee <LOAF> The concept of something hanging from my penis reminded me. #21,608
LOAF is Ben Lesnick's old username. Try it yourself! http://trelane.hamtwoslices.net/index.php?query=X
Couple dozen posts, and here I am thinking something major happened. Nope, couple trolls and nonsense. Ahh well

[t]http://i.imgur.com/P2uTGMD.png[/t] Zyloh and a few others at CIG Austin stream for fun while painting the greenscreen. Korro white-boy dances in front of him while the Austin crew are not paying attention to the game.
Why does it matter where I get my information? Does it make it false?
People who watch Fox News tend to say that.
People who watch Fox News tend to say that.
I've read through Ben Lesnick's website and have seen all of these quotes. It's accurate. He was the one that shared it on Twitter to begin with; if you see the Twitter post that elix made, my reply was about the tweet Lesnick made about his "funny" website. It's a bash.org style website of all the "funny" quotes he's made. A lot of them are racist, sexist, misogynistic and are downright wrong. I posted the link earlier. He also has a gallery of thousands of pictures of a news anchor.

Hezzy; settle down. This is your only warning.
Cool, and this effects Star Citizen in what way?
The Director of Community Engagement and Content Strategy is probably going to have to resign.
Hezzy; settle down. This is your only warning.
Settle down in what way? I am discussing Star Citizen.
Settle down in what way? I am discussing Star Citizen.
You're digging up dirt on a man who works on a game you dislike. That isn't productive discussion and has nothing to do with Star Citizen.
The Director of Community Engagement and Content Strategy is probably going to have to resign. Settle down in what way? I am discussing Star Citizen.
Someone looses their job since shitty jokes? Wow, damn. You anti-Star Citizen guys are fucking evil.
Third "but this is a discussion forum", why does it sound like "you wouldn't hit a kit with glasses!" The Ben shit is sad, but decade+ old celebrity fawning and shitty kid on the Internet passive racism isn't exactly illegal, nor does it have anything to do with the game. In the very least people don't have to just attack his neckbearded good looks when they don't know what else to complain about
Someone looses their job since shitty jokes? Wow, damn. You anti-Star Citizen guys are fucking evil.
It's pretty bizarre to collect thousands of images of a news caster. CIG shouldn't hire friends of Chris but instead hire the best qualified for their positions.
It's pretty bizarre to collect thousands of images of a news caster. This is all Chris' idea and project.
It's pretty bizarre to collect thousands of images of a news caster. CIG shouldn't hire friends of Chris but instead hire the best qualified for their positions.
I say hes pretty qualified, He does a really good job.
What if Ben was best qualified? And what's wrong with him hiring his friends? This is all Chris' idea and project.
Kickstarting funds and then using them to employ friends and family does not typically demonstrate good stewardship of the funds. If the project fails this sort of behavior will not look good in court. Many companies specifically ask questions when applying for jobs to try to identify those who have relatives working for the same company or some sort of existing relationship.

But CIG is a private company founded by Chris and his friend. They can hire anyone they want, as long as they don't discriminate. If they want to give a job to a friend, they can. He does work and gets paid. The only way this could be bad is if Ben was abusing his relationship to get perks that other employees don't have.
hey hezzy you were at camp fp with drugs as a cop why didn't you resign then?????????? [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] the point is is that digging shit up from so long ago is kinda pointless :)))
