PTU 2.4.0h, Reddit has the patch notes (since, as usual, they're on the PTU site) Remember near-daily PTU patches raping your bandwidth? It's back and it's off NDA, baby. [t]http://i.imgur.com/JFRRpKq.jpg[/t]
A/D and Q/E swapped positions and it's fucking up my Arena Commander muscle memory severely. It's so simple a change and that's what's so devious. fps/eva controls are typical WASD with Q/E roll, and it always throws me off that the pre-2.4 layout had ships roll on A/D and EVA roll on Q/E so unifying these makes sense, but I still have spent the last year and a half flying ships that way and adapting is a struggle.
putting a and d on roll never made any sense so its a good thing they changed it, i always had that rebound anyways. But spacebar and ctrl instead of R and F for vertical strafe? blasphemy.

But spacebar and ctrl instead of R and F for vertical strafe? blasphemy.
Made all the sense in the world to me as an Aurora pilot, but the Aurora sucks at yaw and excels at roll+pitch turns anyway (or at least used to). I really want to get back into playing this but I crash every time I launch the game. No black screen or anything. Just clicking launch game crashes me.
Delete the USER folder and verify the game in the launcher. If it's still happening then, it starts being a thing of "are all prerequisites installed" and if drivers are updated and such.
Done that. Also deleted the entire game folder and re-downloaded. Windows event viewer shows this.
Faulting application name: StarCitizen.exe, version: 2.3.5.14098, time stamp: 0x5707df59 Faulting module name: ole32.dll, version: 6.1.7601.23392, time stamp: 0x56eb3627 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000000000001fb78 Faulting process id: 0x29e0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d1b34aa38e8160 Faulting application path: E:\Program Files\Cloud Imperium Games\StarCitizen\Public\Bin64\StarCitizen.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\ole32.dll Report Id: e552d661-1f3d-11e6-bcf0-005056c00008
I've tried re-registring that dll. I've forgotten the command now. But I still get the same problem. I've tried google-ing non-stop but I cant find anyone else who has the exact same problem [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] Everyone who also has a "Faulting" ole32.dll has their windows explorer crash and all sorts of problems. I dont seem to have that.
it's a known issue according to this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2541119
I've been meaning to upgrade soon. Would a win10 upgrade solve the problem?
Considering it's not an automatic inherent Windows 7 issue that affects everyone, maaaaybe. It could be some other problem that isn't showing itself properly and is instead manifesting as this DLL crashing. Rust crashes explode on 0x5 exceptions all the time and it's not always directly caused by the file the crash lists.
I know like 99% of you don't care about this, but DS is writing a book/script(?) on Star Citizen [t]http://i.imgur.com/QMT06Nq.png[/t]
Well according to a post on his own forum, the 'cover' is a "parody" of this:
Buccaneer well, that's a thing also Herald again Friday, $110 (up from $85)
That's very Star Wars.
Buccaneer well, that's a thing $110
I love it
The Buccaneer's design looks like something you'd expect out of a ship in a 1990s or 1980s space sim, and I find that pretty neat. But I'm having a hard time seeing Drake's particular style in it.
I'm really liking the more recent ship designs.
Well I've updated to win10 but the game does still crash. According to the game.log file it crashes shortly after initializing audio.
... after that usually comes the Renderer initialization. Graphics Drivers issue maybe? Remember when you install win10 and you have an Nvidia card, don't use the driver from the Windows Update, install the latest one from the website instead.
Would geforce experience give me the correct one? I'll try that. Last time it got stuck on preparing to install though.
I'm really liking the more recent ship designs.
They've really taken a step up in their design and in the process reined in the artists from making silly impractical designs. I just wish they'd add a fighter with a rear mounted cockpit like a BSG Viper or the Argon Nova. The only small craft we have with a center cockpit is the snub fighters, and even in large ships the majority have front-mounted cockpits.
Would geforce experience give me the correct one? I'll try that. Last time it got stuck on preparing to install though.
yeah you can, but I'd suggest using the "custom installation" option after it downloads the new driver. But that's just personal preference (I don't like to install all the nivida 3d shit and their audio drivers which I don't even use).
If anyone here bought a UEE Patch Set, has anyone received theirs yet?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/BaCnjkY.jpg[/t] Buccaneer well, that's a thing $110
I can already here the sound of metal cracking as I "recycle" it with my Reclaimer. [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline] JK I'm too poor for a Reclaimer.
Any word yet on whether there will be warp nodes like there were in Freelancer for the interstellar jumps?
Any word yet on whether there will be warp nodes like there were in Freelancer for the interstellar jumps?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean as I never played Freelancer, but in SC Jump Points are gravitational anomalies that you can open up into a wormhole with your ship's fusion drive and XYZ technobabble. Uncharted Jump Points must be detected manually, and they may be difficult to scan, requiring you to be in approximately the right location and even the right heading. If it's charted, there'll be a navigation point to it in your hud, even if it's only your own private charts because you discovered an uncharted JP into a new system and haven't disclosed it to anyone else yet.
Any word yet on whether there will be warp nodes like there were in Freelancer for the interstellar jumps?
Star Citizen's jump points are the equivalent to Freelancer's jump holes. Star Citizen doesn't have jump gate equivalents because humanity doesn't know how to create artificial jump holes like they did in Freelancer.
If anyone here bought a UEE Patch Set, has anyone received theirs yet?
Which patch set do you mean? This one? [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/tcvlwco0x9yiar/source/Patches.jpg[/t] If so, as per the store page, it says
Price includes worldwide shipping. Please note this item is a pre-order, estimated delivery is July 2016. You will receive a shipping notification with a tracking number when your order has shipped.
If it's an older patch set, you should check your order history under My RSI/Billing & Subs for tracking, and probably contact CS if you haven't gotten it by now. Someone on Reddit noticed that there are four itemports on the Greycat. [t]https://i.imgur.com/VxyKkhG.jpg[/t] And someone else managed some out-of-bounds glitching on ArcCorp in 2.4 PTU. The Kavische Space Cactus subscriber flair is out (but not visible in your hangar until 2.4 goes to live).
Capable of growing anywhere up to 5 meters in height, the Kavische is a columnar cactus hybrid that developed on Yar shortly after the introduction of floral into the newly terraformed ecosystem. Adapting the hue of the red sand, the Kavische quickly became one of the predominant plants on the planet.
Yar is the second planet of Centauri system, an arid planet mostly populated by research stations after the rest of the colony fucked off (according to the starmap lore). Of note, Centauri III (Saisei) is the location of MISC's HQ. This month's Jump Point is up. It features a WIP on the Prospector (predictably), a corporate profile on Shubin Interstellar, the underappreciated DevOps is the interview this month, and the Galactic Guide article is on the Banshee system with its radiation-intense pulsar. It also creates the mystery of the final resting place of Adaliz Dayan (the discoverer of the jump point to Banshee) and her ship for the PU, as she was never found after she entered the system and is presumed to have perished from radiation-related problems.
Travel Warning: Refuel and run a complete system diagnosis on your ship prior to entering the Banshee System. Due to the extremely harsh conditions and pulsar fluctuations, rescue and repair operations can be exceedingly risky.
It also contains this very interesting tidbit of lore:
Wary of the hazards the Banshee System and its pulsar posed to the public, the government didn’t herald its discovery. They even passed a bill making it illegal for unauthorized ships to enter the system. Tensions came to a head in the early 26th century as Earth’s overcrowding reached cataclysmic levels. A legal argument erupted over whether the government had the right to ban people from a system. Many worried a future government could abuse this power to hide valuable land and/or minerals. This led to the landmark Minto vs UPE court case that nullified the government’s permanent ban. The decision opened the Banshee System to all, and is also the reason the UEE cannot legally keep people from venturing into Vanduul space.
Found the UEE's "First Amendment", where a ruling just says "you can't" rather than trying to regulate a particularly-important difficult and complex right (the right to own spaceships with guns on them was well-established by the repeated wars and piracy, by then). I think we may be seeing news on the Esperia Prowler sometime soon, because this month's JP fiction is the beginning of a new series written by Adam Weiser on the lore team. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but it's set in 2610 and the opening scene is a retelling of the Tevarin fleet's suicidal plunge into their homeworld (Jalan/Kaleeth) at the end of the Second Tevarin War from the perspective of the commander of the Tevarin fleet, complete with Tevarin names and cultural references. It then moves to the next day and has an encounter in Caliban system between a human pirate salvager carrying a recovered data chip containing a copy of the signed Tevarin Instruments of Surrender and a pair of Tevarin from a battleship of them who don't know that the war is already over. Also we're over $114mil. :toot:

Should i give RSI a holla, or wait some more?
I would file a ticket about those, yes.
Alright, i'll check into it. Also, how the fuck did i miss those manufacturer patches. God damn! [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline] It actually mentions the shipping stuff of merchandise on the help page ... Heck, i'll wait a week or two to see if something happens.
