D&D V6 - Edition jokes don't really make sense anymore

Roll20 is more less the way to go for playing RPGs online. Although it's not perfect, It's got a tilebased map editor, chat, dicerollers and macros all integrated into one neat platform. There are other ways, but most of them just aren't as convenient.
Cheers! I'll hit up my Canadian friend and see if he has any groups on Roll20, it sounds like exactly what I'm after.
About roll20, my DnD campaign there is approaching its 30th session this sunday, and I decided to fancy smancy up my streaming setup for it to celeberate, together with API scripts, discord intregration and
a python chrome driver script and a lot of help from a bro to understand the different steps and the graphic design, I've come up with this so far. It's still a WIP, but hopefully it will make my stream look a bit more "higher quality".

Got stuff like, showing the stats of the PC which has the current turn, auto scene switcher if the turn order window is up or not, discord rings when the correct player talks, so people know which voice is which character. Syncing of player health to show in tokens, that also works in roll20 and in the stream overlay.
Here's a gif of the switching of turns:

Any opinions or ideas? All I'm really missing is the backdrop at the bottom, that's going to be behind the player tokens etc.

Oh god that's slick as hell. I've had roll20 for years and still a Free User pleb squeezing everything I can out of the basic functions. I'd love to work up to things like that.
it was fun to make
I just wish Roll20 had a "Pay once" option and not monthly/yearly stuff. I dislike subscriptions for stuff. Some people can't afford to keep paying over and over again D:
Possibly unpopular opinion incoming, but despite me and my friends using it for all our campaigns, the only thing I really like about roll20 are their character sheets, and even the ones I like are community designed. Oh, and dynamic lighting, but even that has some things I can see improvements on.
Now, I probably won't be switching anytime soon because the only other free virtual tabletop I'm interested in is Mote, and that has its own problems (oh god I had to use HTML 3.2 if I wanted to make my own character sheet macro) that I probably could work around given time (Like possibly using a WYSIWYG HTML 3.2 editor if those still exist).
Are we too late to post silly tokens? because this was the token for a decker in my last SR game

Does anyone do voices for their characters when they play? Just curious to see if it's a thing people to often. I've wanted to do it myself but never really had a character I felt I could do it with yet. Eventually i'd love to make a Human(Variant) Sorcerer who's probably up in the years (Haven't decided age yet) and do a voice with him but haven't got the chance to. If another one of my characters die in a game i'm in maybe i'll come in the game with that who knows :v:

I don't because our group is use to writing up responses and using descriptions for everything. I do try to reference or compare character's voices from whatever I think is close or describe to the best of my ability. It gives people a sense of how they speak especially if you aren't experienced in voice acting or impersonation.

That's fine. Not everyone can do a voice. I'm not a voice actor myself but I can do some voices and kinda have one I'd use for the said sorcerer. I made a joke one time that I'd do a macho man randy savage voice for a wrestler monk or something but my throat would die so that isn't gonna happen. :v:

I try to do it very shittly as the GM, my party laughs at and with me, and we have a good time. Sooo yeah, more for comedic effect though as you can guess. Me trying to act as a cute small catfolk that is totally not a kleptomaniac usually gets the party rolling on the ground and laughing at me.

I actively give every NPC a different voice. It can get complex, especially for female characters because there's only so many feminine voices i can do. I mainly stick to impressions (my forte), a couple of sessions ago we had an Honorable Half-Orc Warrior that sounds like Worf from TNG, and a shady Halfling merchant that sounds like Danny Devito.
I have a few "voices" I reuse for my characters, but when I'm behind the GM seat myself, I tend to avoid them. I tend to get caught in the trap of "vaguely British sounding" as a holdover from watching too much Month Python when I was a teenager.

All the fucking time, as a player or DM. I take great pleasure in it. Like when I was playing as Goluk, a half-orc paladin of vengeance who rolled a bit poorly on his intelligence so I put on my best Hulk voice. Or my last character, a goblin with an offensively bad Brooklyn accent.
The only time I regretted it was when my players ran into the town's vigilante masked hero. They got into an argument with him and I, in my infinite wisdom, gave him the Bale Batman voice.
I can't do voices for my NPCs because they're always various levels of pitch and garbled of Ivan the Gopnik.

That being said though, one thing I found useful when you have a horrible voice is simply using third person to paraphrase the characters responding to the players. That way you don't need to fake voices, leaving them to the players' imagination. But the impression of interacting with a person remains.

I have no idea why, but when voicing Goblins and Kobolds i always give them Brooklyn accents?
I blame World of Warcraft for that. I didn't even realize they have that kind of accent in there too until someone pointed it out.

yep
and their all shit. :v:
My best /read "worst" are a very deep bad scottish voice lots of "AYE LAD" useful for dwarfs and buff men.
overly stuck-up noble voice for arrogant pricks "OH MY"
announcer voice
and i can never stick to any of them.
As par for the course. Adds flavor.

Speaking of Monty Python, our Paladins absent for a couple weeks and they were literally standing outside the boss door of the toughest fight yet, so i'm putting everyone through a non-canon no consequence bonus episode.

Is the Paladin "Sir Not Appearing In This Film" then?

Maybe they're on Holiday together.

Also, not sure how to stat the killer rabbit, is there a monster i can use as a base or should i make something up.

You could start with a basic rabbit and give it vorpal strike as a passive so it decapitates. Could even open up the critical range depending how forgiving your bonus session is.
What's everyone here's process for setting up a game so you can pitch it to a party? Ive got an issue with pitching a neat idea but then having no actual meat behind it so it falls off instantly. How far along do you all go with constructing your world and characters before starting the game? How do you plan out long term story points when your players will inevitably run off to do what they want instead? How do you compensate for that, either through realigning the train to the tracks or just saying fuck it and following the train wreck?

Currently caught trying to build a wicked over the top battle royale/redline style Battle Planet game, but id like to actually have something made before pitching it

Usually I get to where you get and then I just pitch it. People are gonna know if they are or aren't interested after your elevator pitch.
That makes sense, what about reframing the question to pre first session?
My wyrmwood dice tray and holder came in today

It's purple heart wood, and looks really good

So my DM finally got around to making an actual folder structure for the sheets, and some of my stuff was also categorized.

200 is a little expensive for a simple dice tray tbh
