Has anyone ever accidentally run an RP only session? I ran a session a little while back and the players were preparing to go on a mission in s fancy ballroom. They needed in clothes and some assassin styled weaponry - the entire night was then going to different shops while formulating a plan of action. One tiny section of combat when they bumped into a thief. Endearing up being really fun
I ran the following as part of my long campaign to find the 7 macguffins.

The jewel itself was number 5 or something, anyway, the plot is about sneaking into an auction on Cloud City, bumping up the price of the jewel, then stealing the money and the jewel before making a getaway. While it did get fucked up in the end, it always does, [sp]The destruction of cloud city, the death of Lando and the eventual end of the Rebellion[/sp] the first two sessions featured like, 5 dice rolls overall, and those were hacking attempts. The rest were the players just enjoying themselves, and chatting their way past security, generally plotting and being manipulative.
Looking to start a game of Exalted 3rd edition, 12:00 GMT-7, probably going for like 3-4 hours, on Sundays.
You have been enslaved. Whether by birth, trade, or defeat at the hands of your new dominus's men, you have come into the ownership of the Great Nellens Karaz. Gracious, is he, to let you sleep under his own roof, and feast on what morsels of food he and his wife find themselves too filled to partake of.
Yet what of the life you leave behind, or never even knew, beyond Karaz's walls? Had you a family, or friends, who have been lost from this world, or sent to live within other walls? Then find courage, within yourself, to see yourself towards heart's desire, for you are one of those Chosen by Sol Invictus himself: You are a Solar, and you will not give up easily. What legends will they tell, of your deeds?
If you aren't aware, it's a d10 dice pool success-based system, where you play as people empowered by gods. It tends to borrow tropes from A) anime or B) greek mythology.(I'm leaning towards the latter, but it's honestly up to the players which way it goes.)
Shoot me a PM on here or Discord([sp]Rats#9479[/sp]) if you're interested.

look at my country flag.
Still sad I let like, the only heavily armored pixie art slip through my fingers, like it's impossible to find that kinda stuff.

For future reference
Personally I'd like anyone who finds any unique fantasy style character concepts to post them on here.
Seeing stuff like that always always gets me super hyped to design new enemies/allies for my games. And we could always do with more character art.
However I understand that maybe people don't want to have pages and pages of random fantasy-esque people :v:
So if you know of any albums of this stuff like on imgur for the love of God give me the link, please

I'm gonna dig through my imgur favorites and just post any fantasy/sci-fi albums I have. No guarantee that they're going to be necessarily unique takes on fantasy. All of these are the album/gallery titles, not my own.

Fuck yeah.
If I get the time, I'll upload my charart folder.

All organised into classes and races, the only folder that I've ever bothered to somewhat keep tidy.

Can you do a onceover for pixies/other winged races to see if you can find the piece of art I've been trying to find?
My current work as a DM has been going pretty well! I've mostly been coming up with things on-the-spot. I probably shouldn't really be doing that, but it's been working. My time spent playing loads of other games has let me "borrow" names from other sources, and I am currently trying to make things go well. Currently one of our rogues has a "Purple Shadowy Gem" that he got from the first dungeon. Originally it was just supposed to be a lame-ish magical orb they might want to sell, but now I'm having other thoughts as to what I could do with it after he refused to trade it with a caravan's sorcerer. Exciting exciting.
Had an idea for a setting that takes place in Ancient Greece, but the gods are actually fragmented nodes of the Olympus AI that arrived to Earth to escape "something". Although it was able to set up a number of main servers across the area and the general connection between them, the AI fractured into various nodes, each with their own personality and goals based on what they were (Zeus is administrative and bio-communications systems, Hera security systems, Hephaestus is production and maintenance systems, Hades is integration research and observation, etc), each trying to technically achieve the original objective that Olympus AI had. AIs interact with the local Greek populations, shaping their culture with the Ancient Greek mythos we all know and love, and developing their AIs personalities further.
Thus, all the monsters the heroes would run across are likely to be AI's runaway experiments, artifacts of power are gear provided by the patron AIs, and blessings could come as Genetic Engineering of the heroes or their bloodlines. Also, AI and thus inter-god politics for fun and excitement.
So, Numerna meets Paranoia meets Homer.
That's very similar to Age of Decadence.
i'm almost done with the remorhaz.

Our party decided to rummage around some broken ships off of a coast. We were told by a local that one of the ships had a big box in it, but they couldn't get to it because an undead person was guarding it.
We killed the person and got the box to shore. The DM asked me what my thieve's tools proficiency was and out-right told me I wouldn't be able to open the box. I looked to the cleric beside me and was like "What if I was blessed?"
The DM said I had to roll a natural 20. So I did.
Then he said I had to roll a 3 for the bless. So I did, for a 28 total.
I popped that arcane lock right open :v:
[sp]there was no loot inside :( just a dead guy who wanted to become a lich and his enchanted staff that was literally enchanted to make it enchanted. There was also a letter to Orcus about becoming a lich but I guess we know how that turned out :/[/sp]
I definitely feel like there's some lore to this though.
Bless doesn't actually do that, there's a cantrip that does that though, so it still works fine. Waste of a 1st level spell, kinda, especially for no loot. But.. have you checked to make SURE it had no loot? Maybe it had a false bottom, or the wood is thin hiding the fact that the chest is actually made of gold or stuffed full of gems? You never know! Maybe there's invisible loot in there, or Ethereal loot requiring special gloves to touch!

Guidance is what I meant. I did ask the cleric if his god would bless me for this though, but we all knew what was going on :v:
I didn't specifically check for hidden compartments, so I might do that next time. We were all just blown away that I was even able to get this thing open (DC 28 to unlock, level 2 rogue). It wasn't a chest though, it was a large stone sarcophagus which had a dead wanna-be lich in it. The magical staff in the coffin might have been a decoy for detect magic though.

Could be. Dead, failed liches often turn into other nasty undead, though, so watch out for spectral undead! Those guys are mighty nasty at any level, even for 5e.
DM describing what happened last time to someone who missed the session where we figured out a shopkeeper was in on something real bad, and kinda threatened him for info which caused him to attack us:
DM: So they threatened a shopkeepers life, attacked him, stole his stuff, and burned down his shop.
Rest of group: I feel like you're a bit biased.

Like actually nothing or just a few odd bits?
I throw loot around like a motherfucker and I can't abide the thought of a "locked" magical chest having nothing in it.
Maybe it was invisible...
Maybe the treasure was the fun and adventure you had on the way?

Playing Adventurer's League so DM can't really "add" that kind of stuff to the adventure. There may have been a hidden compartment in it, but ultimately I think it's there for ~lore purposes~ and not much else. Just a dead guy who wanted to become a lich, a magical staff that literally does nothing, and a [del]application[/del] note to Orcus from the dead guy about becoming a lich.
This is all leading up to the Tomb of Annihilation and finding out what the "Death Curse" is (which we got a LOT of information on this session, assuming it's all true). I'll be sure to ask the DM over facebook about the wanna-be lich and if there was actually anything to it.

The important thing is you go find whoever pointed you to this worthless box in the first place and castrate him for lying to you about treasure.
Or for trying to become a lich because he's probably conspiring to become a lich and wanted the lich stuff in the box.

I bet it's all on the ethereal plane, now that the wizard lock is off any ol ghost can grab it now! You've doomed the world to suffer another jerk lich since you unlocked the box on both planes, you should relock it at the very least! Or go to the border ethereal and check it there, yourself.

No one said anything about what was inside, just that there was a large box in some ship wreckage they couldn't get out because it was being defended by an undead lady or something. So far everyone we've talked to on this island has been super nice to us, I mean except the cannibals...
Could one use true pollymorph (or wish) to achieve godly power without too much cheese? If so, How.
Idea is a wizard would want to use either as part of crazy ambitions, if at least to give himself a degree of longevity so he can study spells longer. Becoming a wizard (or warlock) to be a god seems like it'd be a common goal. A lot'd do it for power, why not take it steps further?
A quick read says a desirable short term goal is to become an ancient brass dragon, and there's a lot of discussion on if you'd still be able to cast further spells if you became one. I guess I could compromise and become a younger dragon, relearn magic, and achieve greater heights (as an NPC at this point so it's all fluff) though becoming a fiend/devil/celestial might be a goal for a different character (if you're already going to the X, might as well try and skip the lowest ranks)
(fully happy to become an NPC if I ever reach such heights, Don't wanna fuck the game up with such power. Would probably give the players some parting treasures)
