Turns out my college has a medium-quality 3d printer located on-campus that all the students can use. I'm gonna test it out wednesday to see the quality of a miniature print. If it's anything to write home about, I'm gonna make further use of it in the future.
Print one of these off The guy has made 3d models for almost all dnd monsters. The site it is hosted on is because wizards of the coast had something going with them, but if you create an account on the site (free) they can all be downloaded for free.

Double luck today! My sister finally finished the drawing of my halfling cleric, Finnigan, that she promised she'd make.
I'm in a similar boat, but I don't think my school's public printer can manage the resolution needed for small models.
Yeah, I won't mind if things are a little detail-fudged, but too many issues would make it nonviable for anything besides bandits or zombies probably.
progress!

"Poisoned
A poisoned creature has disadvantage on Attack rolls and Ability Checks."
What the fuck, I didn't know that :v:
My players have been getting off light, time to ruin them.

The Poisoned condition is pretty rare, tbh. Most things that do poison damage don't actually inflict it.

Not in my campaigns it hasn't been :v:
I've only been giving my players damage over time
So, inspired by this, I am wondering, is it really supported by D&D (3.5/5) to run an all intelligent undead party, if only for a one-shot?

it'd be interesting to run a party where everyone is a necromancer's minion. one night, that necromancer goes missing. there could be skeletons, a frankenstein-ish barbarian, a butler thing, a little hand that casts spells and talks in message, etc. each minion could have their own opinion on the necromancer, perhaps some find him to be a loving father who sees them as his children, while others see him as a despising master who experiments on them and treats them like garbage, etc.
the one shot could boil down to them finding the necromancer imprisoned or amidst a sacrificial ritual, and then the party should decide what to do (free the necromancer, kill the necromancer and take his castle, etc) which would probably result in an undead battle royale between the party where only one would survive.

My last session our team scored 6 critical hits in one encounter, 3 of them by the same guy.
My last session of Exalted, a mortal guard had 7 dice to attack a rampaging Dragon-Blooded prisoner with, and on both of his attacks he managed to roll 5 successes, which was enough to hit her.
He knocked her out in 2 hits.
We did a little house game of 5e yesterday, partially because one of my housemates wanted to try gming, and partially because my girlfriend wanted to try play an rpg, considering the rest of us have been for years.
It went well enough, plot was a little forced but its his first go, he had to improv everything after we didn't decide to kill the innocent goblins or go back to town to get arrested, and went in another direction. We all had fun though, it wasn't particularly serious so we all had a little fun with it. My girlfriend got really into the roleplay after i told her to stop waiting her turn to speak and stopping if she got interrupted, she was amazed at the end at how not bored she was. Felt nice.
Also the GM asked for pictures of our characters. The human druid found a nice picture online, the Elven Cleric drew a nice portrait, and for my Half Orc barbarian i made this:

Only real issue is that she wasn't very enthusiastic for rolling. "Its your turn to roll", "ugh, can you just do it for me?"
In the end she did, we said that you didn't have to roll but then you defaulted to 1.
i haven't been able to run my normal campaign due to scheduling conflicts with my group, so i decided to do a dirty and simple oneshot for one of my roommates so i can practice my improvisation. was a very simple D20 system, where the player rolls a D20 to do actions and i tell them their result based on whatever they get. sometimes, depending on circumstances, they'd get either plusses or minuses to their rolls. anyways, i went in with the idea "i want to have it be in space" and left having gone through a survival horror romp on a space station. my roommate had a lot of fun and so did i. i feel it has shown me my strengths as a DM lie in improvising shit, so next session i think i'll just write up some loot tables and enemy stat lists and go on from there.

I made a picture for my longest running character Jack "The Javelin" Johnson

He has not had the happiest life and but he is super buff so I guess it's alright

Did he have an encounter with a gelatinous ooze, because he looks like an acid burn victim.

He was hit in the face by an ogre and then later burnt in the face by a demon curse. His charisma at the moment is 4.
Yeh but you can paper bag him and he'd be pretty good.
This reminds me of the Fallout character I'd made under our Guns & Ammo expansion ruleset to the Fallout 2.0 rules. His name was Deadeye, a Ghoul with 12 luck and incomprehensible amounts of critical chance. I believe from the start of the game (including the fact that as a little fun addition to the G&A rules smoking a cigarette gives you additional critical chance), he had a 1 in 3 chance to score a critical hit with a standard attack, that's not including bonus critical chance for targeting limbs.
I was going to have his main weapon be throwing darts. Ciaster kindly made this picture to represent him.

One of the players in my game drew his character, 'Donalt of Mar'a'lago.' Its not a very serious game. I don't have the picture on me but he drew that 'smug' Donald Trump picture with a pirate hat and an eyepatch since they are supposed to be sailors, and in my players' minds sailors = pirates.
I mean what is a sailor if not a pirate that hasn't done seacrime yet.
I mean what is a sailor if not a pirate that hasn't done seacrime yet.
damn straight, preach it sister
I mean what is a sailor if not a pirate that hasn't done seacrime yet.
well I dunno about seacrimes but they did steal some shit from the king, pushed an island's governor out of a window and killed him on accident, and also the captain player stabbed a goblin who was stalking him because she is in love with him after a drunken tryst in a tavern. She survived though and now calls the captain's quarters home.

Ahh it's so beautiful.
So far I think I prefer Volo's as a DM but it's still cool to get my hands on.

I didn't give a damn about the special edition until I saw this picture of it. Everything I've seen online doesn't convey how pretty it is
Seeing all this Xanathar's guide stuff, I wish I could get my hands on a physical copy of Legend of the 5 Rings; 4th edition. I'm just starting a campaign with a few internet buddies over roll 20, and 3 of 4 characters are finished (aside from backstory).
So far we've got a Dragon Clan Togashi Tattooed Order monk, a disgraced ronin iaijutsu/duelist, and an eccentric Bat Clan shugenja who is obsessed with masks and has a penchant for dancing, singing, and the shamisen.

It's shiny too.

It is glorious. I had a regular one pre-ordered on Amazon, but when a friend said the local game shop got some in early I jumped to grab it. It looks great.
Can't believe they just completely removed the Raven Queen out of XGTE...
When is she going to become an official, recognized deity?

She's not from the Forgotten Realms, she's from Grayhawk first off. Secondly, Nerull and Vecna are far superior death and undeath deities in that setting! In any event, she's been a 'real' deity since 4e, just not from FR, thus the lack of inclusion. They haven't cared about Grayhawk since before 2e, and I say this despite the fact that it was the base setting for 3e.
