D&D V6 - Edition jokes don't really make sense anymore

This is gonna be an odd question, but are there any like mobile apps where you can find a small group and do a quick dungeon or something? Maybe that sounds stupid but I generally don't have many days off to play an actual campaign and it's be near to do something like that when I'm on lunch or whatnot. Maybe that's a stretch :v:

I'm not sure about any apps, but if you're not afraid of a little face time with strangers you might want to check out a local adventurer's league or something. From what I understand there's not much commitment, as adventures are designed to run for only a few hours and are atomic in nature.

Sadly I don't think their lunch break is going to be a few hours long.
It's me again, the guy playing the Bard who was upset that his teammates were letting enemies use him as a punching bag. Back to say that things have been progressing well.
We haven't gotten much further story-wise (we're all the very slow, how-much-can-we-test-the-DMs-patience-with-inane-bullshit type players), but we've had a decent bit more combat happen and I've been trying out a few different strategies. For a lot of it I've been following behind the barbarian in our group, so I'm never the first one into a room or into a clearing to get fucked by enemies.
Secondly, I do still try to talk our way out of encounters, or do something to get us some advantage going into it (i.e. we ran into some bugbears working for the local bandits and we convinced them a horde of undead were rising up (who were in fact inert until attacked), so they were bruised by the time they came to actually fight us)). That being said, I try not to be the first one to talk to an enemy/potential combatant. I usually try to let another party member do it, that way it doesn't seem like I'm leading the conversation.
Thirdly, I've been making better tactical decisions in battle. Running for cover, straight up hiding behind walls after casting in some cases, generally staying out of melee range when I can, and that's been working well too. It's gotten a little bit dicier for my more melee oriented teammates, not having an extra ally in the fray to take some of the damage, but then again, taking damage isn't really my character's forte.
I don't normally use inspiration as a way to gauge my character's performance, as our usual DM, as much as I like him, tends to be very predictable in terms of what he'll give inspiration for. It usually tends to be bad jokes/stuff in character that is hilarious but also very out of left field. But our new DM has been a bit stingier with giving inspiration, usually reserving it for more special occasions. At the end of one of our recent sessions, he gave me an inspiration point for how I've been playing my character the last few weeks.

tl;dr I changed up the way I've been playing my bard a bit to work around my teammates and it's been working for me.

Unfortunately not :v:
Thanks for the answer though
So I've been thinking the past few days on creative ways to use my bard abilities to help in our campaign since I have a bunch of strange interesting abilities.. My dm is homebrewing Summon Instrument to fit the more modern theme of our campaign and is allowing amplifiers with it. I'm a robot with built in speakers. What is stopping me from summoning a metric fuckton of amplifiers to hyper-amp my sound attacks? Only my spell slots. Time to see how much bullshit my dm will let me get away with because I'm about to throw an impromptu death concert for whatever my dm has me fighting next session. Now I just need to figure out how to not instantly kill everyone else in my party.
To this day, I'm still disappointed that D&D does not allow to improve "Summon Instrument" spell to drop pianos on top of enemies.

I'd allow it.

Using a First Level Magic Slot to allow the instrument to be large two handed instrument such as Base Guitar or a Drum Set up to 10 feet from the user (in any direction). Using a Second Level Magic Slot or higher to allow piano-sized instrument to be summoned, instead up to 20 feet from the user (in any direction). The instrument lasts for (Magic Slot Level + 1) minutes.

If it has a saving throw it's Otto's Resistible Dance. :v:
my brother gave me such an amazing christmas gift...
first he gave me a letter. it read:
Dear Dungeon Master and beloved brother,
Re-igniting the flame of a passion isn't a frivolous task, let alone an easy one.
As you know well, I've abandoned my Dungeon Master robes a few years ago, and with the tribulations of my life I had no more hopes that I'd ever play D&D again, let alone with the frequency of when I played as a kid.
Fortunately, I couldn't be more wrong. We've returned full steam thanks to you and your effort not only to build a campaign, but a whole setting that has sheltered us during all the harsh mondays of 2017.
It is time to share with you an important part of the loot I've conquered throughout my journeys of more than three decades.
Great characters I've known in the past have owned this artifact, but in modern times little have access to its infinite possibilities.
Know this is not a mere gift, but a hard-earned achievement, thanks to your intense dedication that provided countless epic adventures and new stories to tell.
Thank you for re-igniting the flame of an old passion,
Atila Graef

"Male, Female, and Bard" heh
"Male, Female, and Bard" heh
When you're a bard, these things are unimportant
It's all about dat music
A bards sexual organs and musical instruments are the same thing; They have many genders; Hard Rock, Classical, ect.
Player made a new character last session.
"No, I swear this one is a good guy."
An Arcane priest... With madness.
First session, immediately casts blindness on a nearby noble women.
I just...
Sounds like a That Guy. What other stunts have they pulled? Might be a good thing to keep a running rap sheet of the shit they've done. :v:

I don't know how well you all remember individual posts in this thread, (especially since it's a slow thread) but I've made a couple
And it's always been the same group.
So who remembers my earlier tales of Dragonborn Monk and Gaston.
Well, the Arcane priest is Gaston.

No one blinds nobility like Gaston,
Lies about their neutrality like Gaston
more dragon fighting.

i'll edit this post and explain the plot later. we kinda want to build this for next session which should be the final showdown with the dragon + the guttja (orcs) army.

I got Tomb of Annihilation for my birthday today. This will be the first time I've ever had a flick through of a book like this, it's absolutely insane. I'm super excited to start DMing it for my group!
Any tips/ tricks/ advice? I improv my homebrew almost 100% of the time, and am a bit daunted by the amount of information I've been presented with ToA.

as someone mentioned a few pages ago, there's a NPC that might tag along the party at some point and might be stronger than them. if you have him participate in combat encounters w the party they might feel underwhelmed and the npc might feel like a babysitter. having him stride in the distance to guide the party instead of being someone literally travelling alongside them can be a way to fix this.
i'm just repeating what people said in the thread, i haven't played ToA.
A spirit dominated my ranger due to the flashiness of my musket, it didn't realize I had to spend a standard to reload it so it got quite annoyed when I wouldn't shoot it again :v:
