That's really cool actually. Gotta say, the way that WOTC bounced back from the travesty that was 4E to what they are now (with 5E being (almost) universally praised) was really impressive.
is it time for my annual "fuck 5e" chant? i think it's time fuck 5e that is all
Also thanks to my BASED HARDWARE SKILLS I was able to fix up the remains of the drones we destroyed, so now I've got a sexy, stealthy drone with an autoshotgun Also our next job is saving some girl from a Bunraku den and icing the owner in the process, should be fun
I'm mildly annoyed we looted the best shotgun in the game and I'm not the one getting to use it.
I'm mildly annoyed we looted the best shotgun in the game and I'm not the one getting to use it.
Hey, I bought that shotgun with my own money, not looted it Paid half again for it and got 7 successes on 10 dice for the acquisition test, so, nyeh

Gotta love the fact that it's dropped 80% in price between editions :v: And I paid 8 grand for fixing up the appearance so you bet your ass I was buying the biggest gel mousepads I could
is it time for my annual "fuck 5e" chant? i think it's time fuck 5e that is all
A lot of people agree with you, including Spoony and his ilk, but you cant deny its helped put D&D back on the map, where it had almost been swept off by Pathfinder.

WoTC really is getting their shit together. [editline]3rd August 2016[/editline]
hahaha I still remember when they promised everyone who subscribed to their dumb D&D Insider thing a 3D tabletop program with custom 3D miniature creation and all the bells and whistles. That's about 9 years ago, now. Still not here.
Remember when Paizo promised the same thing and also hasn't delivered still.
i like 5e :( spellcasting is way easier a lot of things are easier to keep track of, actually
Does 5e have playable pixies yet?
I quite enjoy 5e as well.. maybe im a pleb

I dont really want to get into edition wars, but most people actually think 5E is really great (including me). The people who dislike it say that character creation is very shallow and that the rules have no crunch to them, but clearly, thats not an issue for most
I think what 5E does best is give a really simple start (which was great for people like me coming into it) but lays some great groundwork for people to add house rules ontop of.

I guess for hard core people I can see why they would not like it.
Thanks to Siberys, we have recovered Operation Hella Bank: [t]http://puu.sh/qoKYs/9b09c63129.png[/t] Another piece of history recovered from the mists of time.
I think 5e is good, considering its the edition i started in. It was relatively simple (for most people) and is still some good fun. I haven't really played any other editions though, I've played a single game of pathfinder and of D&D 3rd edition (not 3.5, 3rd). I'd play some more, but I just can't seem to get into a different edition game that will last more than one night.
I personally love the majority of 5th edition, and feel it has relatively few issues, but those few issues are so major for me that I don't think I would be willing to play a RAW game. I hate how powerful Dexterity was made, and how weak Strength and Intelligence is. Maybe others haven't had this experience, but it was boring joining a team where everyone else had high Dexterity, high Constitution, with dumped Intelligence and Strength. I hate how finicky some of the rules are, while also trying to be so free. I can use Acid Splash on a goblin or a stone golem, but according to the Sage Advice I couldn't Acid Splash a dead goblin or a stone door (unless the dead goblin was a zombie, then I could). I also dislike the restrictions on classes in order to reinforce their stereotypes. Why does a berserker not gain resistance to weapon damage while wearing heavy armor? Why is clubbing someone in the back of the head not a sneak attack? As far as I know, the only other edition of D&D to limit sneak attacks to the stereotypical "rogue weapons" was 4e, so it seems unneeded. Except for those few issues, I love 5e, but I can't play the game without being reminded of all those issues. That's why I play Pathfinder, because even with its immense number of issues, none of them bother me as much as those few 5e ones. I'd rather play a game filled with small issues than one with a few huge ones. Also wizards are more fun in almost every way in Pathfinder, and I like wizards. So 5th edition is a great system for me, but only as a base for houserules. I know some people dislike 5e because they love crunchy systems with a ton of options, and I've seen others dislike it because some 5e fans (not very widespread, but very vocal where they are) constantly hate on some editions or rpgs for not being as perfect as 5th is. They are a very small minority, but enough to leave others with a bad opinion of it.
Is anyone here currently trying to put together a DnD 5e campaign?
i like 5e :( spellcasting is way easier a lot of things are easier to keep track of, actually
I would agree that 5e is much, much easier to keep track of things, but that's inherently the issue. Its dumbed-down compared to 3.5, so I just straight up prefer 3.5 for the depth of it. However, I still enjoy 5e quite a bit and it's my preferred system to use when dealing with some of my more casual friends and people new to tabletop RPGs. [editline]3rd August 2016[/editline]
Is anyone here currently trying to put together a DnD 5e campaign?
I'm currently working on a homebrewed system between 7e CoC and 5e D&D for a short-ish campaign set in 1930's/1940's Las Vegas. I'm taking a lot of inspiration from House of Leaves and a lot of the Cthulhu literature for this.
I honestly think every system that isn't complete garbage (i.e. FATAL) has it's place, we don't need to fight over which is "better".

It sounds like a ton of fun.
Remember when Paizo promised the same thing and also hasn't delivered still.
Not really, I don't pay any attention to Paizo and never really did.
A lot of people agree with you, including Spoony and his ilk, but you cant deny its helped put D&D back on the map, where it had almost been swept off by Pathfinder.
Pathfinder is basically just D&D, though. Might just be my personal bias but for me it it seems like the last half a decade or so people have been moving away from D&D in general way faster than ever before. It doesn't seem to be dominating the market nearly as hard as it used to.

Since people are probably more likely to know what D&D is than what a tabletop role-playing game is in general. Though the greater variety and ease of publishing does seem to mean that once people are drawn in they're more willing to experiment with more than just D&D more than in the past.

Those three games just dwarf everything else.

does anyone have any experience playing with conflicting schedules? a friend of mine has been interested in starting up a game but everyone in our group is in different time zones. is there something that's turn based or something, that maybe people could take their turn and wait for others to complete theirs, coming back when it's convenient?

It's very different, though.

VtM got a TV show, a card game, and a video game using HL2 Source when it was making its debut.
