I know it's talking about sales numbers, I'm surprised the sales numbers are this far away from actual popularity. And actual popularity is way more important to me than "success"
What are you talking about "actual popularity". There's no way you can judge how "actually popular" a game is without going to every single player and asking them what games they play. And one internet forum is not indicative of how successful an RPG is.
wow so today on my adventures of grasping at straws in Shadowrun's rules to try and avoid spending as much money as I thought I might have to to fix this drone, I learned that humanoid drones (such as my waifu drone) come with a full set of cyberlimbs complete with all the advantages that provides such as a whole extra 4 hit boxes completely for free because it's even specifically mentioned that's what happens when you put cyberlimbs on a drone doesn't affect my ridiculous repair costs but it does mean she didn't technically get destroyed and thus I do not need to rely on GM mercy to let her get fixed at all. Praise ye mighty shadowrun rulebooks, that doth hide critical information everywhere that is not discovered until one's hour of greatest need
That was me :P But it's bioware so in all honesty getting them used is like, a slap on the wrist compared to the amount of essence you save over normal wired reflexes means that even at that price point it's worth
If I wasn't already committed to getting full body cyberlimb replacements I'd just get move-by-wire, skilljacks and chipjacks, it's cheaper than synaptic boosters. Of course more sales means more money but just keeping things going doesn't require anything near the scale of best seller. It's just that big corporations want to focus on whatever brings in the highest amount of profit possible
uhh ok??? i dont know what you're arguing tbh
I'm saying that the only way we can get close to seeing "actual popularity" is by looking at sales. You're trying to separate the two. And right now D&D, Pathfinder, and Star Wars are the most popular games.
Ehh yeah no I don't agree. Like at all.
i dont did you have a stroke? im not sure what the fuck im reading right now lol
two dwarf brothers bought a pig and took turns using it as a terrible mount that gets nowhere.
I think Elly is saying a bunch of people can buy Starwars, but probably rarely actually play it; Popularity is based on how many people actively play the game- Which is a much more difficult metric to determine.
I think Elly is saying a bunch of people can buy Starwars, but probably rarely actually play it; Popularity is based on how many people actively play the game- Which is a much more difficult metric to determine.
Which is fair enough, but if you'll all remember, the only reason I brought this up was because Elowin said:
And that's why games based on movies, books and stuff are rarely that successful. Even the Star Wars RPGs are only decently successful, and they have a slew of advantages over other licensed games.
We just talked about "actual popularity" so much that we got derailed. And lets end it there.
i dont did you have a stroke? im not sure what the fuck im reading right now lol
Do you ever talk to real people?
Also I think the only things I'm not stacking for my heavy weapons skill is adept powers and reflex recorders, and an adept wouldn't have the sick cyberarms and gyromounts i have :v: All I need now is a situation where prolonged, long range dakka is actually needed. Or get that mortar.
Also I think the only things I'm not stacking for my heavy weapons skill is adept powers and reflex recorders, and an adept wouldn't have the sick cyberarms and gyromounts i have :v: All I need now is a situation where prolonged, long range dakka is actually needed.
Why not get the Mitsushima MRL or whatever it's called? Then you have 8 missiles, can burst-fire, AND not take 6 actions to reload
Because with the indirect fire one, you can hack someone, use the trace action, and then I can fire at the traced location as long as it's in missile range. [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] Also it's a backpack, so I can carry other guns and not have to drop anything to use it [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] I guess it's more like a cruise missile than a mortar really.
Which is fair enough, but if you'll all remember, the only reason I brought this up was because Elowin said: We just talked about "actual popularity" so much that we got derailed. And lets end it there.
I meant that purely in the sense of popularity. I don't care about sales because their effect is negligible on me, but because it's infinitely easier to find a good group for a game if there's a lot of groups playing it, the popularity of any given game actually does matter to me. Hopefully that clears up any misunderstandings.
Also I don't want burst fire on a missile launcher, I'll be spending 12k to pull the trigger
Also I don't want burst fire on a missile launcher, I'll be spending 12k to pull the trigger
Fair enough But if I'm just an overpriced targeting laser, you're going to blow up all the worthwhile loot on the guys I'm tagging anyway
Fair enough But if I'm just an overpriced targeting laser, you're going to blow up all the worthwhile loot on the guys I'm tagging anyway
Are you putting mere material goods before the all-consuming glory of explosions? Shameful display. Those who give up explosions for wealth deserve neither.
Are you putting mere material goods before the all-consuming glory of explosions? Shameful display. Those who give up explosions for wealth deserve neither.
I'm fine with explosions when they're not costing more than they're making See: that nerve gas bomb that's probably going to be set off next session that I'm pretty much the prime enabler behind Which incidentally got us paid And would have got us a lot more money IF THE ADEPT WASN'T A SHIT
Fair enough But if I'm just an overpriced targeting laser, you're going to blow up all the worthwhile loot on the guys I'm tagging anyway
AT missiles have like a 5m blast, it's just if we're feeling really lazy on an assassination job or one where we wont be able to recover stuff from the targets anyway due to police response. Meanwhile in Deadlands, an inordinate amount of time was spent debating the existence of chicken nuggets in the 19th century.
Meanwhile in Deadlands, an inordinate amount of time was spent debating the existence of chicken nuggets in 19th century.
And then the price of a bottle of whiskey, and whether or not it qualified as the "Good Stuff". I tried to pay half price but both my attempts to use magic to make a $1 look like a $5 failed, so I had to pay a full $8 for a bottle. :poot:
Meanwhile in Deadlands, an inordinate amount of time was spent debating the existence of chicken nuggets in the 19th century.
In case anyone is curious, Chicken Nuggets were invented by a food science professor from Cornell in the 50s. Apparently people in the past needed a food doctor to tell us that we could cook little breaded bites of chicken instead of the whole thing. I'd like to see that conversation.
Meanwhile in Deadlands, an inordinate amount of time was spent debating the existence of chicken nuggets in the 19th century.
Inordinate low or inordinate high?

I knew it, chicken nuggets didn't exist yet! In your face Rats! ...I'll just celebrate over here in the corner while you guys keep discussing tabletops and stuff.
Not to make this argument perfectly circular but I am 100% sure firing antitank missiles in an urban center is going to invite a police response regardless In fact, probably more of a response than anything else we could do (aside from more WMDs)

And an obvious reference to gold. [sp]It was a saloon.[/sp] [sp]It was right across from "The Silver Eagle", so I commented that they both had money and bird-related names.[/sp]
