Our SR game later should be fun, we get to do a captive exchange, I've never ever had one of these go well in a game ever so let's see what happens.

Except a run I GMed where the team had to abduct a cockatoo, but I think that went well mostly because they were handing off to Ares corporate agents that had a mage, decker and sniper watching over the deal.
It'll be fine, I wouldn't be a decker worth my salt if I didn't know how to leverage the Schmidt's need for the paydata to save our asses if it goes bad
Hell, we might even be able to get some extra for removing his bosses' details from the list of things to sell

We're going to want to look armed up to fuck, but also professional, so we seem reasonably trustworthy but also a lot of trouble to silence.
Also don't tell them you kept the data, threatening to leak it is an ace you'll want up your sleeve for if a firefight starts and we're losing, otherwise it's very likely to get us shot at if they know we have a copy.
group 1 consisting of the rigger and a mage who thinks he's an american GI from WWII who's been transported in time, charging into the outer complex of a nuclear power plant with the GI strapped to the roof with medical gauze, dukes of hazzard style.
"Do I get bonuses for being prone?" Me asking about aim modifiers as I lay atop the station wagon ramping over the fence into said complex.
It was a fun sesh.

Well the main problem with that plan is that we totally do have a copy and are probably going to sell it, so wouldn't we rather be upfront and get paid extra without getting on the Schmidt's bad side
And a deterrent is useless if they don't know about it, saying 'if any of us go horizontal this is getting spread all across the matrix' is a good way to give us a strong negotiating position from the word go

Nah, too overt a threat, might work but risky, ideally there's no negotiation at all, we get paid the agreed amount, hand them the data and the girl, and leave.

In that order, payment first, then the goods :v:

I had a plan formulated to kill all of them if it came to it. No one sufficiently cared about the sentient cockatoo, though.

Unless they don't give a flying fuck about the data being leaked (which seems unlikely) they're not going to be fans of you holding on to it
If you tell them you have it they're probably going to kill you first chance they get.

They know we have it, in fact, they paid us to get it, if they think we didn't make a copy they're either the stupidest corpies in the known universe or they're stunningly naive, and they should have specified that
It's mutually assured destruction. We're pretty sure the guy who hired us is either covering for/trying to blackmail his boss, and otherwise generally doesn't care about the bulk of the content, hence the premise of the deal to remove the content he doesn't want released in exchange for a bit of a bonus. If he actually had access to the resources to extract the target or steal the data, he would have already done it internally without needing to trust anyone else in the first place, so that means he doesn't have a good decker and thus no way to prevent a contingency program from releasing the data if shooting does start.
So basically, he can either pay us a little extra to make sure we don't unintentionally ruin the whole effort for him (because here's the thing, I HIGHLY doubt he's going to be pleased if we keep our file secret, then he finds out it got all sold on the matrix anyway) or he can try and be difficult and ensure that he gets nothing that he wants, since it's trivially easy for us to release the data and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the resources to drop the entire party before one of us can waste the hostage
so, I don't think he really has any leg to stand on, in regards to basically anything. Hence why I think the whole thing is a good idea.
I'm pretty sure my next 5e session is going to look like an episode of csi

Detonated from inside.
Today in Shadowrun, even the Johnson gets betrayed.

We did all that, then got jumped. So technically it all went to plan, just after the plan things went wrong.
[editline]16th August 2016[/editline]
Also what I mean is, the guy who hired the guy who hired us betrayed both us and the Johnson and tried to off us, but they sent a van full of guys at us not knowing I had a flamethrower.
And then we proceeded to fuck our way up berlin to murder the guy
Was pretty fucking sweet, honestly. Especially the part where my rotodrone just fucking mowed down half a dozen guys and the wall that half of them were taking cover behind. And then we threw the guy out a seventh-story window.
Was fucking hardcore.
We also, indirectly, pissed off Lofwyr.
We also, indirectly, pissed off Lofwyr.
An utterly unqualified success!

He doesn't know who we are so far, and there's people who pissed him off more, but they might talk and let SK know we're involved.
Anywho, for context and the full wonderful story of the events of last night:
So we go to meet our Johnson to turn in our job from the last session. It goes alright, we get paid, hand over the extraction target. It becomes apparent that our Johnson is in fact a second middleman, and the actual client is unrelated to him. This becomes extremely obvious when the actual client's car zooms off, leaving our Johnson behind.
And then two loads of moonlighting security goons show up to ambush us. Of course, they weren't expecting Nert's flamer, or the rigger's grenade launcher. So they get wrecked in short order. We decide that we can't let a client fuck us like that. So after making sure our Johnson is alright, we start chasing after his limo. We end up getting tailed, but I fry the pursuing vehicle through the internet and we continue on our merry way.
Thanks to our tracker on the extraction target, we follow the client to his hotel. I send a gunnery drone buzzing around, the adept climbs up the exterior of the building, the sammy takes the stairs. We burst in, utterly annihilating the guards, with the only damage being to the adept. Said adept beats the living crap our of the guy who betrayed us, then threw him out the open window. We attempt to make our escape. The police chase us, but between a smokescreen and an incredible shot by the street sam we get away clean.
Everyone returns home, a bit worse for wear considering the APB out on the adept and the sammy. But we're all alive, and the guy who betrayed us is dead. We all have a restful night.
The next day comes. Nothing much happens, till that evening. A nerve gas bomb goes off in one of the subway systems, not far from S-K's complex. Lots of deaths. Now, we aren't sure if it was the plot my decker was helping out in, or one of the other plots we discovered in an unrelated job. However, when Hans Brackhaus shows up on the news, actually sheds a tear, and swears revenge...
Yea there might be a small problem.
It wasn't an incredible shot, it was an incredibly bad shot, 12 dice with rerolls and I only got 2 hits, but they only got 1 on the dodge roll and I was using a sniper rifle with APDS and making a called shot to the engine so it was only just good enough.

Hey, hitting with bad luck is the same thing as hitting with good luck
Tonight on Greedy Bastards:
DM: So you're just gonna walk by the mud wizard, correct?
Wizard & Cleric: Yeah, lets just go down the other hall, we don't need this guy
DM: I guess you won't get to loot his treasure.
Party: Treasure?
Wizard: I rolled 23 damage for magic missile on the mud wizard.
DM: Roll for initiative...
We proceeded to murder the mud wizard on the principals of him having fat stacks of gold and he was also sort of evil on the side i guess.

He is a mud wizard after all. Should be natural to expect that he would be doing something dirty.

He might be evil... but if you murder him for loot, that also makes you guys evil.

It's like evil version of Highlander!
