How would you guys react to a player who just up and leaves after saying "it's late and I'm tired/have to get up early"? Without even waiting for a response, they just sign offline. Feels like it's an insult to the game, GM and other players to just rudely sign off without at least sticking around for a response or asking "I have to go soon, can we wrap up?" but maybe that's just me.

Maybe we can work out an earlier starting time, we'll have to talk to the others.

Obviously if it's completely out of the blue, then not quite as okay.

I've usually got to be up at like 5:45-6am for work during the week so I really can't stay up till midnight and I'm sorry about that again but I really don't have a choice in my schedule right now
Yay for talking out problems!
There seem to be way too many follow up posts saying, "Are you talking about me?" in this thread. Take it to PM's before you bring it here.
what are some good money sinks in D&D 5e? Our DM already had a bit of an experience with letting us players buy just any magic stuff we wanted in our now defunct old game where we got a ton of cool stuff and then were pretty powerful now its sort of a huge hit or miss if we wanna buy magical stuff short of healing potions. The only reason we even really need to keep it around right now is for resurrections, but the only time we've experienced that is cause of the previously mentioned paper shredder brawl that took place. Any ideas for the DM on what to have us spend it on?

There's also the good ol choices of women, alcohol and drugs. Really depends what tone and pace your game is going at. You could also buy golden statues or get cool paintings of yourselves to really show the world how important you are.
So I recently discovered the store I usually go to for RPGs has 3.5e books. And now I want to run Tomb of Horrors.

Now it's back to encouraging players to purchase armies, ships, real estate, businesses, etc. Since when you start getting into the high level range you'll find tasks harder to accomplish with only your adventurer party.
As you're sitting and speaking with the King you see a new person enter the dining room. You see the Kings eyes light up as he greets his daughter an- "Is she hot?" She's a very pretty young woman, and also very sixteen. "Oh... uh..." "Eyes front, Comrade Creeper." "Oh come on... I've literally seen you tear off a mans face and wear it." "Yes, and now I'm judging you."

Truly, a group of heroes fit for the King's proud service.
Sixteen year olds are totally legal in the Middle Ages though
These exact words promoted an extended exchange at the table. At which point the second voice (our Fighter, still in character) remarked: "I'm impressed. You've all somehow managed to disgust even me with your intense desire to bang this dudes daughter. Waiter, another bottle of wine please."
Truly, a group of heroes fit for the King's proud service.
The King didn't even want us to go do something for him. He just wanted to get drunk and bro out with a bunch of adventurers. A Dragon attacked and killed half the towns folk after dinner though, so that put a damper on the evening.

Anyone remember the Goblin Hotel? What happened to that guy?
Acquisitions Incorporated does a thing at PAX now and then. It's the Penny Arcade guys, some others, and the DM is Chris Perkins from WotC. Started off as a podcast.
Every since they got Patrick it's been getting better and better. They're doing a series on Youtube now too, I guess as a lead in for their next PAX game. Essentially their podcasts of old, but with video and better audio quality. I know that we don't tend to discuss Video Games based on roleplaying games, but I got Shadowrun:Dragonfall in the sale, and my god, it's fucking great. It really expands the concepts behind Shadowrun Returns, and even sidequests are very well thought out.

To me, Shadowrun is about making plans and botching them horribly, rather than the actual combat itself.
I could never get into those Shadowrun games. To me, Shadowrun is about making plans and botching them horribly, rather than the actual combat itself.
I'm pretty sure all 3 of them have botched jobs as part of the main story lines.
call me when they add mp
There is a Shadowrun MMO on Steam but I believe it's rather bad.
So my first time playing a Rogue, this is what happened so far in the first session - Get a quest to go find a guy called Gary, the owner of a shipping company and I have to ask about information for a certain gang member - Find where Gary is (possibly) at, not sure and I'm the one that has to sneak in - Party is waiting outside talking to the guard with a crossbow who is looking out the window, I sneak into an open window. - Room is empty, but there are whore clothes on the ground and I try to disguise as one (I'm a half-elf male btw) - DM tells me to roll a disguise check, first natural 20 of the game (he describes it as "even I would fuck me" - Go into room looking for Gary as nonchalant as possible, trying to do the typical woman strut and I trip and fall down with a 2 - Man says "Oi ya clumsy whore, come over here and sit on daddy's lap", god damn it - After waiting on this guys lap for 1 hour in-game time the guard with the crossbow comes down to the room and says "Ey what's up ya fookin' lads Gary is in da house!", the men cheer and drink and shit - Man I'm sitting on says "Flat-ass chick, I'm going to have some fun with you later ;)" After this the DM gets a phone call and says he has to go to work early the next day and we end the session, possibly the worst time we could end this.
I've always wanted to play D&D, never had the chance
My DM just disappeared after his semester finished. Almost a year long game dropped like that. How am I supposed to objectify elves now?
I've always wanted to play D&D, never had the chance
Do you just not have the time for it, or is it a matter of finding other D&D players?
Do you just not have the time for it, or is it a matter of finding other D&D players?
finding players honestly
finding players honestly
I get that. Have you considered using tabletop sites like Roll20 or Mythweavers?
never heard about them. I was kind of interested in finding people here looking for someone
