I would be more than happy to make my own custom player models for this game but the devs have a whitelist that only allows custom base textures and nothing else. you can't edit the vmts and you might as well never bother with making normal maps or exponent maps because they're blacklisted by every server that runs sv_pure I get they're trying to save face from players who can just modify the .vmt files to have fullbright skins or whatever but cheaters are going to cheat no matter what, so all they're doing is making it more difficult for modders. if it wasn't for that there would have been better player models years ago
Game is on sale game is cheap Is it worth picking it up? I've seen some videos about it and it seems quite cool, but needs proper teamwork which I suspect random players will be lacking.
Teamwork probably depends on the server. It feels like one of those games where if you go to the same server you get to know the people and teamwork develops. The Coop is a lot of fun, I mostly play that.
co-op is awesome. the update has a survival game mode where you play as insurgents during the night and have to stop security forces from attacking your weapons caches. it's really rewarding to play adversarial wise, it really depends on who you play with. I've gotten super good at the game and I just pretty much lone-wolf it a lot of the time. If I have allies nearby I'll coordinate with them but more often than not I do really well going solo, and a lot of other experienced players are pretty much the same. More often than not though not a lot of people are good at coordinating with each other. It's not project reality where everyone is on mic at all times. It's a lot more casual than that, but on some maps you really have to get smart about how you behave with your team. Especially on the hunt game-modes where once you die you stay dead the main drawback about adversarial gamemodes is that a LOT of people play the push gamemode exclusively. it's pretty much set up so that you have a shit ton of waves and you just charge at each other until the attacking team captures all of the points or the defenders kill off all of the attacker waves. there's not much skill required to it because people just run and gun and don't value their lives there are other less popular game modes though that make the game so much more rewarding to play. you just have to be able to find an occupied server
I hate begging, but I've sold nearly all of the valuable items that I had in my Dota 2 inventory, and I'm still $2.12 short of being able to buy Insurgency. I'm going to keep selling small things here and there, but I don't think I'll make it to the deadline. I loved the Mod when it first came out, it was fun to play once I got down that it wasn't a CoD shooter. I started playing it a lot, and had fun with it. Although, I can only say that I imagine it'd be a lot better with someone else. If I don't get it this sale, I suppose I'll have to wait till the next, and keep my Steam Wallet in line!
There is coop? PvE? oh shit. I'm in such a state after yesterday's Halloween(fuckin Thorpe Park) that I'm only in a mood for PvE, don't want frustration from PvP. I think I'm gonna get this then, PvE is mostly a selling factor for me in most games. played a game last night, i think it was push mode, the one were you have limited spawn waves and only one post to capture. so in this round i end up becoming the last ct alive on the last spawn wave, decide to go full lone survivor and start wrecking shit, this is on ministry btw. i sat in a corner and took out about 5 guys by one of the bridges (the one closer to ct spawn), next thing i know there's a votekick with my name on it for "being afk." i could have probably killed off the whole team, or they should have at least let me tried, since ct's were gonna lose the round anyway. the worst part is my own fucking team kicked me.

managed to do a solo hunt [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538505198064988224/45D7ADF0AF50386D1834DDEB46EB4CA3A4FD306C/[/t] how many levels does survival have? i played a few rounds and we couldn't get past level 15, this was like halfway through before i left (almost 80 kills and about 6 deaths) [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538505198064991693/76D1642E9A1EDF585F5E7C776F3D84CDEF5E9D8A/[/t]
50 levels is my guess as the last achievment for it is level 50.
They really need to update the playermodels and world-view player animations. This game could be RO levels of authentic if they really put some effort into them. Right now they look like they came out of a 2008 source mod.
How fast paced is the game play compared to RO2? I haven't played Insurgency since the early mod days, and I'm looking for a new semi-realistic shooter fix.
How fast paced is the game play compared to RO2? I haven't played Insurgency since the early mod days, and I'm looking for a new semi-realistic shooter fix.
It's essentially RO2 with smaller maps and 90% automatic weapons so yeah its pretty fast paced since firefights are the scariest god damn thing known to man. The biggest problem I have is that while RO2 has a reasonable respawn mechanic, Insurgency is a lot more unforgiving. Most weapons are 1 hit (3 if you are luck and wearing Heavy Armor) kill magdumpers but respawns are extremely limited (each mode has different respawn mechanics) which might cause a whole lot of frustration, especially if your team doesn't cap objectives.
Does anyone actually use the steam group to organise matches? I finally got around to joining and it'd be great to have some co-ordination in a match for once.

I'd love to get into the competitive side of this as I can imagine it'd remind me of CQB situations in PR and ArmA, except a tad more refined in some aspects. I also just need to play more Insurgency in general, really. :v:
wait there's a fp insurgency group? why in the hell am i going to pubs all the time?

Yeah, we never came around to actually do anything in the group, but I am always ready for it. If ye send me a pm, I can give ye moderator status, so ye can make an announcement when ye feel like playing with the group. Probably should do more groupchat aswell. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/fpinsurgency
according to the page, i already am! and yes i think we need to get a group game going sometime soon probably not tonight but most definitely this week.
if you guys want to play with [mostly] legit players, play firefight game mode oriented servers hunt is good too if anyone plays that. hunt is probably the most tactical out of any of them, but firefight is pretty good
that's exactly why you don't play push. push caters to the typical call of duty kiddie and more often than not it just leads to all around bad experiences i strongly advise playing firefight. that's all i play. push gamemode is literally just glorified team deathmatch and that's how people play it
Ministry best map all maps. Rush D side hallway, clear it. Use stairs to flank B, clear it. Overlook C from balcony, clear it. Jump down, clear snipers outside.. then go to cache from the rear using the outside route. Win games in 3 minutes flat. Fuck Push, too many folks not aware of objectives.. half the time you'll be waiting for a guy camping a completely irrelevant corner just to respawn.
i literally played ministry all day yesterday, i'm done with it for a while
I like Ambush on market I must be a bad person
I enjoyed Skirmish alot, because I know routes on all maps on which you barely ever meet the enemy and can reach the enemy cache. They usually only start defending their cache after the 2nd or 3rd cacherush :v: . Unfortunately everyone wants to be a cacherunner now, rather than defending the own cache (And most public people are deafmutes), which makes it pretty frustrating at times.
holy clutch batman i just played like 15 rounds in a row and we only lost 1 greatest 5-man team i ever played any game with
holy clutch batman i just played like 15 rounds in a row and we only lost 1 greatest 5-man team i ever played any game with
To be fair. No one on my team was capping points.
Love crouching behind a bush with a M24 sniper during the night with Night-Vision goggles on and picking off enemies for your team to allow them to move forward. Insurgency is pretty awesome when it comes to manipulating the darkness to your advantage. Also, a Facepunch group? In Insurgency? What the hell was I doing playing pub matches all day long? 600th post. Awesome.
Anyone wanna meet up for an insurgency match at some point in the future? We actually have 13 people in the group now, we could do some serious shit. We should meet sometime in the groupchat (weekend maybe?).
