I got this from a friend in the Humble Bundle because I remember playing the original mod. Still seems fun, but also more polished, but I only played one or two games with bots to get my bearings. Is online still full of people who are fiendishly good because they've been playing the game for years? (That seems to be the norm for games with low population, like Neotokyo and the likes, everyone who you find playing it has been at it for years and they all play on servers with friends they know from playing the game and so they know all the ins and outs of maps and all the little tricks to give you an edge)
There is a couple of really good players, but most of the playerbase either are useless camping snipers or they mindlessly rush to the next objective, keeping the way free for people like me who are able to flank all the way to their weapons cache without any enemy encounter. If you are ready to learn a few maps you can literally become rambo.

Yeah, tbh It'd be nice to have a pure Facepunch match, in which teams actually coordinate. Our group is big enough now for 8vs8 or 12vs12 games. If enough people are ready for this (And we get our hands on a dedicated server), it could be doable. I made a group announcement for that.

There were like four guys being sniper/sharpshooter on Panj doing absolutely jack shit while me and one other guy tried capturing the stupid hill. Absolutely useless. I kinda want to try Co-Op myself, but i don't have the people for it and the matchmaking says stuffs broken, and when i join somewhere via server browser stuff crashes
A guy just gifted me this game, I'm really glad I didn't pay money for it. I tried to go through the tutorial but when it tells me to pick up a primary weapon at the cache by pressing F nothing happens. Then it tells me I can press M to customize my kit. I press M, all the primary weapons are greyed out and I can't get them. I tried asking my friend for help but he just compares me with DSP and tells me I am dumb.
I like playing it enough but holy fuck this game is not for impatient people.

the tutorial was pretty straightforward, you have to be dsp-dumb to not get it.
the tutorial was pretty straightforward, you have to be dsp-dumb to not get it.
I don't know, but it told me to pick up a primary at the cache and nothing happened and in the menu all primaries were greyed out. I found that really confusing.
did you somehow spend all your points on useless shit
It isn't like the tutorial is extremely important to finish, most of the experience you need to master the game is the structure of gamemodes and maps. Movement and shooting are very straight forward, all you actually need to do is having a look at the keybindings. And now to something completely different (@devs): Will there be any future support for gamemode modification? I'd love to screw around with some of them and try a few ideas.

You're basing your opinion of it on one thing, and an artificial environment at that? It's a superb game, I think, and I've only had it for a day or two. While the tutorial may have a few glitches (like crashing at the end), the best way to learn is to just go and play on a server.

Haven't even gotten into the real game and you're saying you're glad you didn't buy it. Here, I'll reinstall and see if I can replicate the bullshit you're getting. [editline]a[/editline] The solution is to get rid of the Makarov at the supply crate. There, problem solved.
So i finally could play some Co-Op with a friend! Damn this game is fun even for a tactic00l shooter, i just went on with trusty ol' M9-sama with all the cool and useless addons and got like a 24:3 k:d :v:

So yeah, he dun goofed, no matter how you look at it :v:
After about four to five hours, I'm finally starting to get into this game. Of the last six matches I played, I got at least a 2:1 KD ratio, and was the top player of the team in four of them. It's really about learning the maps (no shit). I have had great success with the under barrel grenade launcher.
I go with a low-costing sniper, highest costing scope, then I just deck out my M9 as much as I can. Occasionally I get a silencer for one of the two weapons too.

AND points to spare the suppressor doesn't do anything other than block your muzzleflash in night maps but it's great for cosmetic purposes only insurgent loadout you ever need, unless you go AKS74U and foregrip which is essentially a recoil-less all-range machinegun i've been rolling a shotgun and grenade with no mods at all, and it leaves me with 7 or 8 points to spare which is fine by me. I don't need to spend all of those points when I can go 18/0 with the toz
For night maps (which I strongly appreciate the devs having made actually dark), is it better to go for night vision goggles or a flashlight attachment?
For night maps (which I strongly appreciate the devs having made actually dark), is it better to go for night vision goggles or a flashlight attachment?
neither matter since you will get raped
For night maps (which I strongly appreciate the devs having made actually dark), is it better to go for night vision goggles or a flashlight attachment?
IMO nightvision is cool for the best concealment, but it could be hard to see enemies. Flashlights are brighter and can blind enimies, but they can see where you are and when blinded, they just shoot the light. Plus the flashlight is pretty annoying when your teammates shine them at you.
Only trouble I've had with NVG is that some places remain dark even with the goggles on (like dark alleys, unlit corners), and the monochrome green makes it hard to differentiate enemy colors, so that you can only really see them if they're close, poking out against a lighter/darker background, or moving.
if anyone wants insurgency: -gone- can be redeemed 3 times
I've also got two spare keys if anyone doesn't have the game https://www.humblebundle.com/?gift=6ktwTpeVz4MwKxky
