Are the coop maps insanely difficult, or is it just me? I was on a full server and we had trouble passing two or three checkpoints.

Yesterday we struggled on Heights. From all the checkpoint maps this one has a really brutal AI even if you vote-set it to Forgiving.
There is also a fucker at 4th checkpoint who can eat an entire mag and then proceed to oneshot you.
depends on the difficulty in general. some difficulties like brutal are just ungodly difficult
Shit, you can change the difficulty? That might've been helpful to know earlier...
AKM with foregrip, AP rounds and suppressor as well as a grenade. AND points to spare
the suppressor doesn't do anything other than block your muzzleflash in night maps but it's great for cosmetic purposes
only insurgent loadout you ever need, unless you go AKS74U and foregrip which is essentially a recoil-less all-range machinegun
i've been rolling a shotgun and grenade with no mods at all, and it leaves me with 7 or 8 points to spare which is fine by me. I don't need to spend all of those points when I can go 18/0 with the toz
My go-to weapons have been either AKM or FAL with foregrip, AP ammo, and Kobra sight. The FAL is amazing, with the foregrip the recoil is extremely controllable and it just one-shots people at close range.
Also, what's with people using flashlights and lasers all the time? Nothing says 'I'm coming around the corner please crouch and get ready to shoot me' like a laser bouncing off the walls or the doorway suddenly getting brighter.
Am I the only person here that doesn't like any of the optics for Insurgents? Something about the Kobra sight throws me off, and the 4x scope gives me incredible tunnel vision. Luckily, I really like the AK and FAL iron sights, but I would kill for a simple red dot sometimes.
Also, I'm stupid because I posted this and immediately went into a game and saw Insurgents have Red dots.

I only ever use an AK-variant with foregrip if possible. Gotta go full jihadist with molotovs and IEDs too.

uhhhhhhh double post sorry i am terrible.
Just download a skin for the kobra sight that makes it not awful

I've run into a few people on night maps just prancing about with the flashlight on, they make wonderfully easy targets. One guy was very obviously camped behind a doorway, and I wouldn't have known if it weren't for the stupid hi-beam coming off his pistol.

a lot of us that use flashlights use it so we make ourselves easier to spot for the enemy. on an average firefight server i can wipe out a huge chunk of the enemy team before even getting engaged myself so i use a flashlight so it makes it easier to spot me. it evens the playing field a little bit
I just bought Insurgency  Anyone wanna be my buddy?
I use a flashlight because it's cheaper than NvG and if I'm going in with a pistol or a shotgun, by the time they're unblinded they'll already be dead.

Aww cmon, it is coop only. Also needs proper player models. Didn't someone make those for Garry's Mod already (in Razborka)? Would it be easy to just port it to Insurgency?
fuck me, the AK-74 is so shit
more muzzle climb than the bloody AKM
i got this game in the humble bundle
i love it

insurgency doesn't allow for custom models, just skins and sounds. although there seems to be a way to get customized weapons in so i would imagine player models should work as well? (no knowledge of modding)
the whitelist only allows base player skins but it allows any and all hand/weapon models and textures as well as sounds, so you can essentially modify everything except for player models and player .vmt and normal maps
evidently you can create your own theaters though but you'd have to be a server owner in order to allow them. some servers have more than 10 supply points and others reconfigure the weapons entirely so assault rifles have 300 bullets and 20 magazines and they all shoot buckshot
[editline]25th November 2014[/editline]
creating custom player models shouldn't be TOO difficult. i think for the most part insurgency models are about the same as hl2/counter strike ones so rigging them isn't super difficult. i just don't have the patience to do it myself
Holy fuck, I don't know how I didn't notice earlier, but the AI in coop is insane. I haven't gotten this mad in a long time. The NPCs are practically snipers even with things like AKMs, they've got X-ray vision, some of them are unusually tough... I've had more bullshit deaths today than I have had playing any other game in recent memory.
It'd be nice if the bots weren't... you know, botting.

We're doing the pvp sound pack too. The thing is Insurgency has a weird fetish for having same phrases with a little to no difference.
For example - 6 variations of ins_sniper_warning with a small difference in pronouncing.
And I have no idea what to do with checkpoint (alpha, bravo, charlie, etc) lines.
About bandits models - is anyone feel for making a simple retexture insurgents into a tracksuit heroes?

I could do it if no one else is up for it but it will take me a while before i can start

the akm bots are shit
it's the sks bots that 1-shot you

Well fuck me, it's not as if I can tell what they're using from five miles away and I get shot because my foot was visible from beneath a humvee. I assumed it was an AKM because it looks like that's what most of them use.
Anyway, are there any comprehensive sound replacer mods for the insurgent voices? I got that "native language" mod pack, but it only replaces some of them. I'm hesitant to download other ones (like the one linked above for the STALKER thing) because idk if they'd conflict.
does anyone have a spare key? i could trade you a game from the origin humble bundle.
i wish there were more options for the shotguns, like having dragon breath ammo or an ammo rack for faster reloads
how to make shotguns a decent choice:
step one - add choke adjuster for individual cartridges
step two - allow players to choose the initial loading of their ammo reserve (ie, allow players to have their first three shot with a tight spread, next three shots very loose spread, etc)
step three - somehow make this extremely intuitive and simple to use in the loadout screen and in game
I say this because the spread in game for the shotgun is too much in some cases, but far too little in others
shotguns without slugs are inconsistent even within ~15m
shotguns with slugs are too pinpoint and you'll end up missing point blank unless you're center mass.
Are shotguns (and SMGs) even worth using? It seems like a rifle is all you need - and all you'd want, considering that it only take one or two shots to kill someone, whereas an SMG takes more, uses more ammo, works only at shorter ranges (which you can use the rifle at just fine), and shotguns suffer the same range problem.

shotguns are pretty bad, smg's are nice especially the UMP cause it works close and mid range
