i just use the mk18 whenever if it's a part of the class loadout i'm in.
I only use the shotgun when I want to feel like I'm blowing people apart with munitions
[QUOTE=ElectricSquid;46576540]Are shotguns (and SMGs) even worth using? It seems like a rifle is all you need - and all you'd want, considering that it only take one or two shots to kill someone, whereas an SMG takes more, uses more ammo, works only at shorter ranges (which you can use the rifle at just fine), and shotguns suffer the same range problem.[/QUOTE]
The MP5K is devastating in the right hands. It's got an incredible firerate and low recoil, meaning you can hose down a lot of people in a short amount of time. Load it with AP ammo and a suppressor for even more death dealing power.
forgot I had these:

I don't know what you people are talking about, the 590 in this game is wonderful. Definitely one of the best shotguns in video games, though i'm still mad that they partially ruined it by giving the model those ugly ass useless ghost rings.

I wish it was just an option for slugs or something. They really screw your peripheral vision and don't serve any purpose when you're just using 00 Buck.
Anyone still have a spare key?
Played a lot of PR and this game looks interesting enough to try
When you manage to pull off a good shot in this game it feels so fucking good. I was playing strike, holding a flank when suddenly it pops up "Last Man Standing", so I stand up and turn to the objective and see two guys frantically sprinting around trying to find me hoping I'm around the objective and with only a couple shots I manage to take both of them out.
For every one of those times there are a thousand "what the fuck i shot him right in the chest that's bullshit waaw i was pressing buttons and i couldn't do anything" moments, but it just makes those moments when you do pull some sick shit even better. Insurgents 4 lyf.
[editline]asf[/editline]
Servers that switch teams each round are the fucking greatest. It stops people from just switching to the defending side in Push games and actually makes them more balanced. Had the most fun in a while playing against a competent team. Ended up going 31:12 which I am particularly proud of. Marg bar Amrika!
regarding SMG's: mp5k is absolutely unfair because with AP rounds it can one-hit kill center mass and its fire-rate/recoil is bar none the best out of any weapon
the insurgents equivalent is literally the aks74u with a foregrip. compare spending 2 supply points to spending 4-5 supply points for a similar weapon
when i play ministry, siege or uprising, mp5k is always my first choice

this game is nothing like PR. If you want a realistic military shooter this is far far from it. it's closer to counter strike with iron sights but it's easily better than counter strike in every possible way. also obviously the only thing in PR you can compare insurgency to is the need for communications with your team which is still even pretty 50/50
Yeah, it's more like Red orchestra and counter strike mixed together
countered strikestra
so siege co-op, we're on point d (the one where you go upstairs and there's a courtyard) and there's only 2 of us alive out of 8. we both watch the ONLY stairs up to the point, and this dead guy keeps yelling "BEARDY WATCH THE RIGHT SIDE. THERE'S AN OPENING. HEY WATCH THE RIGHT SIDE." i tell him there's no way for bots to come up that side because it's a dead end. he refuses to acknowledge this, and when he goes outside and sees it's a dead end, he gets his buddies to votekick me out of the server.
I know how you feel. I got banned from a server in TF2 today for playing Engineer. :v:

why the hell did they even add that chokepoint, the bots just come pouring down the stairs into incendiaries and lmg fire
So I got this game out of the humble bundle and have been giving it a go.
Jeez, it's been a while since I've had an FPS experience as bad as the sinjar night map. The fact that it's pitch black and twice as campier than other maps (which is really saying something because Insurgency in general is very campy), dying to snipers with night-vision goggles over and over again gets really boring.
Other than that, it seems quite nice. Maps do seem a bit big though, there's been so many times I've been running around a map and it seems like a ghost town but I think that's the point
The MP5 is so damn versatile and strong for CQB that I'm kinda puzzled why people even bother with the UMP (for co-op).
They do pretty much the same damage, both go through ammo like crazy and yet I've had such ridiculous success with the MP5 on nearly every single map in the game its not funny.
Guess its a preference thing.

Hipfire RPK is best CQB, no questiosn asked

i've been getting votekicked constantly recently in servers that i'm not a regular on. the unfortunate thing about the humble bundle shit is that it's brought in more griefers and retards than it has competent players. and about 90% of server owners don't moderate their servers
People will vote yes for anything so the chance of staying on a server for very long before getting votekicked is pretty slim
[editline]27th November 2014[/editline]
i can get why people want to votekick me; my average KDR has to be about 12/1 and pubbies don't like getting completely anally wrecked in gamemodes that aren't push, but what makes me mad is when my friends who are desert storm and operation iraqi freedom veterans get votekicked for defending me even though they're older than more than half of the server combined
if retards keep voting for sinjar whatever and storm to the insurgent side to snipe security forces down the mountain as they spawn in, they DESERVE to get wrecked by me

I haven't experienced the vote kicking, but the community has gotten worse it seems. I got called a "shit eating n*gger" earlier for talking in the text chat. I don't even understand why.

"niggers OOPS SORRY"
Like honestly I can't wrap my head around this
I really wish there was an Insurgency game mode like in PR, where insurgents have unlimited respawns but shit weapons and Security have to destroy ammo caches hidden around the map. Really, I just want gametypes that last longer, all the ones there now end in like a couple minutes max.
Does anyone have any humble bundle codes left? I wanted to buy some copies for my friends but I missed the sale.

I kinda dig push for the longer round times, but on most maps it seems to be executed sort of silly.
Market for example, the final cache is near the AAV amphibious apc's.. shouldn't it be the other way around?
Shame most of the community doesn't bother with teamplay or objectives.
Seriously I've had way to many games where I had to solo all the points.
I remember back in the old Ins all you had to do was say "Help @ B'' and there would be a minimum of 5 players coming to back you up.
Almaden was a good example for this.. man I miss that map.
+ the mayham that was Haditha_night

Maybe I'm biased because I had incredible fun being a night vision sniper on Sinjar, where I camped in one spot above Security spawn and shot everyone who thought sitting along the ridge was a safe move, but I think camping in this game is different than other games, because this game encourages/requires it. Low kill times mean that rushing out like an idiot will get you killed pretty much immediately, and covering an objective means that you need to stay in one area and watch it for enemies. Plus, it seems to go for the realism aspect, and in reality, I'm pretty sure people "camp", if you'd even deign to call it that since actual combat is so far removed from what we see/do in video games.

It's got to be due to the Humble Bundle flood. I mean, hey, I got the game that too, but I understand teamwork and objective-oriented gameplay.
Is anyone having crashing issues on launch? Out of no where my insurgency started crashing. It crashes when being launched after it shows the splash screen. I have to kill the process in task manager each time.
Why is this game popular? I played it and was sorely unimpressed.
Then be sore.

One of Facepunch's long-standing traditions, the ol' "lemme just enter this thread full of people who like [thing] and tell them how crappy it is," seems to be alive and kicking.
I wonder what he did to earn that title.

Oh shit, that reminds me, (I don't know if I've already recounted this tale) the other day I went on a server that was military themed, like the clan or whatever who ran it was "7th Cavalry Gaming" or something. They had some nice plugins, like an enabled killfeed and info on who killed you, from what distance, and how much health they had.
They also had the most asinine rules I think I've ever run into. Everything had to be tactical - the rules even said things like "all mic usage must be tactical", "all talk must be tactical", "all movement must be tactical" - which I suppose encourages people to not express verbal diarrhea over the microphone and focus on teamwork, although I have no fucking idea what "non-tactical movement" is supposed to be. Worst and most bafflingly though, is their "no swearing" rule, which I wouldn't be as annoyed about were it not for the fact that the characters in-game swear like mad anyway.
