So is there any gamemode with instant respawn?
Or at least something close to it? I have tried a couple of these gamemodes and all of them have this reinforcements thing. Either capture a flag and then you'll respawn, or teams have a certain number of respawns, or whatever.
I need something more casual so I can get used to the maps and how the game looks

You'd need to find a server that enables that, but those tend to be running custom stuff.
What you can do, I think, is open the console, type "map [mapname]" and replace mapname with the actual name of the map, not in brackets, and hit enter. It'll load up that map without any enemies, and you can explore and get a feel for stuff. Weapons might be broken a bit though, I'm not sure - that happened last time I tried loading a map like that.
Wouldn't really fit for the security forces.
tokarev should be for insurgents, 1911 for security forces. although that m45a1 is kind of an updated 1911, so i guess it works.
better than just two choices, so idgaf.
The M45 in game is slightly closer to an old model MEU(SOC) pistol, which was formally (but infrequently) referred to as the M45.

Note the rear sights, which were custom made within the Marine Corps, and the Commander style hammer. Some of the old model MEU(SOC)s had forward cocking serrations, others did not. AFAIK they all had the King's Gun Works grip safety, Videcki trigger, and a flat mainspring housing, none of which are featured on the Insurgency models, unfortunately. The M1911 ingame is just a reskin, which is kind of unrealistic as I've never heard of any MEU(SOC)s falling into enemy hands or making it onto the open market.
I replaced my so called "M45A1" with this
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=355600846&searchtext=Far+Cry+3
since it's pretty close to the real M45A1, with the rail, forward serrations, extended grip safety, different trigger and hammer
p sure it's a limitation. It was done in that weird other mod (the one with all the skins from CS:S and like penetration damage extreme modeling), but that mod was glitchy as hell
You mean OccupationCS Source? I would've loved for that to have gone further, the wounding system was pretty awesome. And yes, ballistics.

yeah, WOUND CHANNEL LENGTH MAXIMIZATION SIMULATOR 2012
After the whole "my M45 doesn't look like one", they went and made the god damn model an actual early 2000's M45

So I started trying out custom maps. Holy shit are some of these tough. There's one that's inside a missile silo and it's just an absolute slaughter.

No option for a tactical knife notch?
No option for a tactical knife notch?
The lack of attachable scope disappoints my digestive tract.
He's talking about Snake's Operator in MGS3 having a notch on the handle so he can hold the pistol and a knife at the same time
Got this in the Steam sale, and so far it's been a good investment. I feel my old Insmod skills creeping back, SKS 4 lyfe.

On a tangentially related note, it's rather odd how the Finnish servers are mostly Russian :v:
Can't stop the Russian invasion anywhere
Slugs for shotguns, yes or no?
always slugs
suppressor if you want a cool sound
I always use slugs for the shotgun, to be honest. Keeps it useful at longer ranges.
I wish there was a possibility to play nightmaps without nightvision, since it kinda defeats the point of having a dark map. Nightvision could be better used in an asymmetric Sam Fisher setup though. Please, more heavy asymmetric stuff in general.
Slugs for shotguns, yes or no?
i dont think slugs are that important but i use the shotgun on tighter maps or for suppression. i think an adjustable choke or sawn off mod would be interesting
shotgun is my primary weapon in pubs, typically without slugs
shotguns in insurgency are really good because the spread is always tight even with buckshot. the unfortunate thing about them is that the damage sometimes seems random; you can hit a guy point-blank in the chest and drop him but other times you can shoot a prone target from behind and he'll just shrug it off and the only thing that happens to him is that he suffers from the 80% suppression shotguns provide
in the hands of a skilled player, though, the shotgun is super versatile at pretty much most engagement ranges in insurgency other than ranges where it'd obviously be a problem (shooting from one end of ministry's main apex to the other). It's also just insulting when someone dies by its hands

Yeah I'm still trying to understand this random damage thing for shotguns. I shot a guy 5 times point blank range with no lag and he didn't die until the 5th shot.
Shotguns are particularly susceptible to armor, so if your opponent's got heavy armor on buckshot is going to be seriously ineffective.
And the award for the best username in insurgency goes to Al-Khabuum :v:.

SAW is my fav weapon by far
people always rush you if you back up, thinking you're reloading
I never NEED TO RELOAD
If you can coordinate your explosives users on your team in the placement of C4 or IEDs, you can hold a point off almost indefinitely, particularly if the cap point is small. Upper floor of Buhriz C point was lain thick with the corpses of infidels, as me and Mezzokoko planted a bomb on each floor, waited 5 seconds after the point started to get capped, exploded the whole thing, then went to rearm while the rest of the team formed a temporary barrier.

You know, this can be easily prevented. You just need to send a single guy in to bait an early detonation. That is what I did when someone copied this strategy, back when we could plant c4 on intel :v:. But of course it requires teamwork. And GUESS WHAT, 90% of insurgency's players are either lonewolfs or just bunch up in a very uncoordinated bunch. We need that facepunch exclusive match some day, but we need moar participants.
If anyone knows of a good guide for hosting listen servers in Insurgency, we'd be most appreciative. I've got a decent internet, but even with ports forwarded properly nobody can connect to my server.

to me the saw is so underadvantaged compare to the RPK
RPK is literally an AKM with a 75 round magazine. it's brutal, even with single shot
the m249 just kicks all over the place and is always on automatic, and to me the recoil is almost uncontrollable. it's really the only gun that i absolutely cannot do any good with
