who cares. I steal shit all of the time from other mods and import them in to insurgency and DOI and not once has anyone cared. imo it's more flattering than anything when your content is good enough that other people want to use it. it means you're doing something right [editline]26th December 2016[/editline] also for the record a lot of the people that have worked on that mod, people like rymd, are notorious in the ins community for just taking stuff without permission. he's taken my content numerous times and added it in to his own stuff without permission and i've not once cared enough to form a lynch mob on him be grateful there's any kind of mods coming out for insurgency that isn't sernix

simkas took models from other products. it's like if someone ripped call of duty models, doctored them up to look different and re-distributed them. are they going to bitch and whine that someone else took their content when they stole it themselves? get over yourself insurgency's workshop is almost entirely nothing but ripped or stolen content from other sources, most being COD and BF4 and alternatively stolen from garry's mod creators. when you rip a gun from BF4 you don't really have the right to say "the permissions belong to me!!!" and since that happens there's 100+ reskins of a single gun model. the same goes for player models and even garry's mod content. but we're not going to talk about gmod. we're talking about insurgency. since the mod community began that's literally what "modding" has consisted of: people ripping models from other things and importing them in to that game. only a couple of people have went out of their way to make things from scratch. it's just the norm. don't expect them to behave any differently. it's a repeating cycle of theft and not a single person in the insurgency community gives a shit
Yeah I don't care. At least they're not taking those models and then going off and selling that copyrighted content for Second Life for some shit. I would rather have them use the much better newer ones and not the old shitty ones I did 5 years ago though.
I wonder if those US player models were used with simkas' permission if not someone should probably notify him and tell him people are using his shit in some mod
None of those maps are original, so the weapons are probably borrowed as well. I'll pass, wait for Rising Storm 2 instead.
get over yourself
Get over myself? What exactly is wrong with caring about what the creator of the content might feel? Even if Simkas in this case doesn't care, that doesn't mean you should just take shit from anywhere
Wow, it's pretty crazy how many spinoffs Insurgency has inspired. From storming the beaches of WW2.. [t]http://www.aybonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/doi-3.jpg[/t] To fighting in the jungles of Vietnam.. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/198554627319807415/0E5A13D642EF4A393D2D3EF8C33475E9D015A3B0/[/t] And soon we'll be going over the top into no man's land in WW1, thanks to the WW1 Source devs. [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/373/372456/profilescsteel/loadout.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/373/372456/profilescsteel/ingame3.png[/t] Pretty surreal seeing all of these fan projects come to fruition. I wonder when/where the next total conversion will take place. The future perhaps?
There's a Star Wars tc in the works, so technically the past?
And it's a shame almost all of them will have tiny playerbases. [editline]31st December 2016[/editline] Day of Infamy's peak players in the past 30 days was only 440, even more of these games will probably cause it to unfortunately be split even further.
Forgot to post this here
i did a thing again
i play with toz and 590 almost exclusively if I play the ez mode kits like engineer or recon (since people that use mp5s and aks74us are faggots) and it really is a skill weapon since body shots on armored people will never end reliably. the toz is a direct upgrade from the 590. the sights are better, the spread feels wider and the damage seems to be higher too but it's in such limited supply on the insurgent team the trick with shotguns is to intentionally hit either heads, arms or knees. any kind of belly or body shot will end horribly. just always aim extremely low when you use the shotgun and you'll do great [editline]1st January 2017[/editline] DOI is getting a lot of improvements too but I also feel like it really won't take off. insurgency's community feels like it's really starting to dwindle as long term players are leaving and short term players hop on, play a game and uninstall the game and never touch it again. that being said, insurgency's player base was pretty much in the triple digits for years until 2014 or so until it was at a 1.0 release DOI has the potential to be a great game but it wants to be a large scale red orchestra style game and yet it just plays like insurgency on big, empty maps. it has absolutely no idea what kind of game it wants to be and it really isn't working at all. insurgency is great because the maps are so open and there's a hundred different ways to get to an objective. DOI isn't like that at all on most maps. they are extremely bottlenecked and a lot of paths just lead to nowhere which just adds to player frustration. they're wide, empty and the interaction between players to their teams and the map are almost nonexistent. it really plays like day of defeat since 90% of the time you're running around with your head chopped off and there's little to no team play at all red orchestra works because the maps are designed for a lot of flow. there's lots of covers and lots of ways to get somewhere while remaining open. insurgency is really clustered urban maps yet almost every building is enterable and has a back door so you can just sprint through them without exposing yourself. DOI just has empty buildings that spiral around and lead to nowhere and the only way to get from A to B is to walk around in the open and get chewed down because you don't really have a choice. the british beach invasion map is extremely evident of this and the remake of donner seriously needs to just be remade from scratch
Are the devs even working on that Insurgency sequel on a new engine? Straight up seems like they gave up on INS/the sequel for DOI.
Well we are about 4-5 guys from FP GTA that plays this, Both BTK and vanilla. Fucking great game for coop fun!
Personally I wouldn't care if someone took my stuff and put it in their mod so long as they clearly gave credit and didn't take credit. Preferably I'd like to be asked and given credit, it's not like I'd say no, it's just courtesy and the non dick hole thing to do The days of conversion mods being super popular are probably gone, though. They'll never see numbers that Day of Defeat or Counter Strike pulled in when they were in beta back in 1999-2000, which is a shame because some of today's best games owe it to modifications from years past
it's just too easy to make a game from scratch now since unity and ue4 are just given out for free. mods are definitely becoming a thing of the past
Are the devs even working on that Insurgency sequel on a new engine? Straight up seems like they gave up on INS/the sequel for DOI.
yes. insurgency sandstorm is being made on ue4. iirc DOI is just being made by a small handful of people now since the base game is already pretty much made to be shipped. all they're doing at this point is just adding weapons, team units (cosmetics) and maps/map props pretty much if you get DOI right now, what you see is pretty much what you're going to get at 1.0 release since they just entered beta stage
Day of Infamy is pretty fun. Love all the obscure weapons in it.

So the campaign is played from the perspective of a fictional analog of the YPJ/YPG? That's an interesting approach to take. Is the MP also going to be based on the current situation in Iraq vs the mid-late 2000s of the original?

I tried making a mod for the first time that replaces the death sound, but im not sure if its working correctly before I publish it. Whats the best way to do so? Join a solo match and kill over and over?
focus home interactive are publishing sandstorm whereas before NWI were just on their own and did a steam-only release. FHI are becoming pretty big and i think with that they focus mostly on single player games since that market has always been in their favor, so it was more than likely their suggestion to have insurgency have both a campaign on top of the multiplayer component. i think the publisher is also the reason why the ps4 and xb1 releases are becoming a thing too. either way, it's definitely a wise decision to have them as a publisher and not someone else that will just buy them out and liquidate them a year or so down the road because we know how often that happens
I tried making a mod for the first time that replaces the death sound, but im not sure if its working correctly before I publish it. The original intention of Sandstorm was that it was just going to be a console port of Insurgency, but running on UE4 and with a short singleplayer element. We weren't really planning on revamping the maps or models too much. It was actually just going to be a side project while we worked on something else. But priorities shifted, Day of Infamy became the side project and Sandstorm's now focused on being a fully fledged sequel.
Bumping this thread due to Day of Infamy's release. So yeah, the flamethrower and killing people with it is one of the most terrifying things I've done in a video game.
Insurgency: Sandstorm media release: http://newworldinteractive.com/insurgency-sandstorm-media-release/ pics
I was hoping for 2003 Iraq and 2001 Afghanistan tbh. It would be interesting to see modern weapons with no/little attachments and maybe some tactical support of the era like drones if they are going to make the maps more open-spaced. I wonder though whether it's gonna beat Squad in the tactical shooter genre. They most likely will make their game different, but I wonder how?
So hows the new day of infamy? Worth the bux?
