I really need to buy RCT2. I've had the first and third forever though, and this thread got me to reinstall them.
According to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Mr.Bones's wild ride stretches out to 28715 feet, that's almost as tall as mount everest. :pwn:
Post a coaster cam of the whole ride Do it.
Just found my original box of this I was going to take a picture but the camera quality looked really bad. I just looked in my program files and its still installed WOOOOOOOOOOO
I miss game boxes, when you had a massive manual and various gubbins like cloth maps and stuff - just for buying the game! Not some crappy jewel case the size of a feckin' Kindle like you have these days I am old

Sometimes you don't even get that. If you bought the Syndicate CE you got golden weapons in-game and... fuck all else
Never got into RCT 3. Is it worth any compared to 1?
I would say it goes RCT2>RCT>RCT3
I wish Gog would do Wine wrappers for Linux and Mac OS. Yeah, i've got my PC at home, but sometimes i just want to have a game while i'm sitting in the living room. RCT is kinda awesome for that.
Well, RCT3 has everything RCT2 had (apart from giving cars or trains on one track multiple colors, letting handymen mow the grass and the hedge maze) plus - Different peeps with four different ages - Custom peep groups - Customizable firework shows - Customizable laser shows - Customizable water shows - Swimming pools with extras like showers, whirlpools, diving boards, ... - Multiple types of water slides - The Coaster Cam - Animal compounds plus toys for the animals - VIP guests which follow a waypoint list you set up for them - Day and night cycle - Lights - Animatronics which trigger when a ride passes a certain spot - Shops with customizable item lists (like selling multiple colored balloons at one shop) - Generic looking shops that become any of the other shops - Placeable spots where people make photos - Photos made by a custom peep group can be saved - Water cannons - Less restricted terrain - Multiple objectives per scenario - Optional secondary objectives - Pass machines where the peeps get a free item when they get their pass stamped at a certain amount of pass machines - Import of RCT1/2 ride tracks - Sandbox mode - Staff can be trained - Support for more than two tracks of custom music - Animal shows - Ability to render a video frame by frame - Speakers that play music - Billboards assignable with custom images - Terrain blocks scenery that recieves it's textures from the ground texture/cliff texture of the tile it has been placed on - Safari rides that can drive through animal compounds - Underwater paths - No limits for amount of scenery, rides, ... used in parks - A WHOLE FUCKING LOT of different rides, trains and coasters (almost every type of theme park ride on this planet has been made by Frontier (the devs) or the community) - A lot of special rides like coasters that drift, coaster with roboarms that can be controlled, coasters that submerge into water, coasters with controlable spinning, coasters that split into two trains, coasters with special pieces like lift and fall segments, coasters where the passengers can activate water cannons aiming at the guests beneath the ride, shrimp burger, shrimp stew, shrimp soup, ... - Rides with more versatile track segments - Rides for kids Unofficial features: - A hidden editor for camera fly-by's - A WHOLE MOTHERFUCKING LOT of CSOs (Custom Scenery Objects), CTRs (Custom Tracked Rides), CTR cars, CTs (Custom Tracks) and CFRs (Custom Flat Rides) and other custom stuff like new paths, support replacements or re-textured tracks - Almost all custom scenery has disabled colision detection (which allows a lot more detail) - Cheats for a file called options.txt that allow you to let rides intersect, build unlimited high or set the speed of the ride or the chainlift up to 3600 km/h ... but yeah, I think that makes RCT2 and especially 1 really better than 3.
I treat RCT3 as a different game all together from 1/2. all are fun, but ultimately I enjoy 1 & 2 better than 3.
I play RCT 1/2 for the scenario's and the challenges and i use RCT 3 for making detailed looking parks (in sandbox mode)
The thing that puts me off of RCT3, is the interface. It's clunky and doesn't work well at high resolutions.

Urgh, any tips to help calculate rollercoasters? Whenever I design something other than a Junior coaster (the RCT2 variant), I either rev up the intensity a lot (despite using banks), make it utterly uninteresting, or end up with the coaster failing to go up another hill. Help
oh god. why am i using RCT3 for EVERYTHING apart from actually doing scenarios? christ. look what i've just spent the last few hours doing.. There's a mixmaster for lasers and explosions.. why not rammstein? Obviously these images don't do the actual thing any justice

Is Rollercoaster 3 worth it? The first ones was the best games I've ever played, and still my favorites
I personally think it's worth it, it's super cheap nowadays, I think it's like $10 on steam with all its expansions included, and it's got plenty of content if you get bored of just the sandbox mode
Is Rollercoaster 3 worth it? The first ones was the best games I've ever played, and still my favorites
It expands upon everything introduced in the earlier games But at the same time indroduced an interface which deserves to die.
Good to know I'm not the only one who was... less than satisfied with the interface in RCT3. It felt like a totally different game to me.
I have no problem with it. Last time I played the first 2 was so damn long ago that I forgot the userface and got used to the new one pretty quickly.

According to Wikipedia, there's a Roller Coaster Tycoon for the 3DS? The fuck?
Yes, and judging by the screenshots it is going to be all kinds of terrible.
That would be annoying having to build coasters with a stylus.
Is there a download to the maps in the earlier games remade for RCT3? I'd love to play em
I was playing rct2 earlier and one of my merry-go-rounds broke down, and it started spinning really really fast and shaking all over, and the music was 3 times faster. it took like 2 minutes for a mechanic to even get to it It was the best thing [editline]28th April 2012[/editline] I'm surprised it didnt fly away or something, it really looked like it would
oh god that is hilarious
oh god that is hilarious
When a Merry-Go-Round broke down like that it creeped me out for whatever reason. [editline]29th April 2012[/editline] I can just see the poor little pixel dudes on board being spun round at like mach 5 holding on for dear life.
