Theme hospital is free now? Whaaaaaat!! [editline]15th April 2013[/editline] Ew, it doesn't look nearly as appealing as it used to [editline]15th April 2013[/editline] Come to think of it Theme Hospital always creeped the shit out of me
is RCT1 freeware now? i dunno where to buy it or if it's even available for purchase.
You guys know what i dream off? I dream of some guy one day taking on the project to give RCT2 the same treatment as Transport Tycoon Deluxe and Theme Hospital got, OpenTTD and CorsixTH
Oh god Theme Hospital, now I just need to get Theme Park World working on Windows 7 and I can relive my childhood.
Oh god Theme Hospital, now I just need to get Theme Park World working on Windows 7 and I can relive my childhood.
I 'unno Theme Park World. I am more more prone to fiddle with good old classic Theme Park in order to get that to work on Win7. Which i did some time ago. And it was fucking awesome. But rubbin' knob aside, i would pay a good dosh (which would probably conflict in terms of copyright/profit stuff) to see someone take on the task of making RCT2 just a little bit more perfect. I mean, just imagine RCT2 with these things: ● HD Resolution support. ● Fullscreen and windowed mode. ● UI Scaling. ● An additional zoom level or more (similar to what OpenTTD did to TTD) ● Tools that would allow for click'n'drag building. Example of building a longer fence or hedge along a path. ● Tools that would allow for copy/paste of scenery buildings, trees and gardens. ● A mode for when manipulation the ground, it would automatically make slopes instead of squared edges you'd otherwise have to slope yourself, every corner or side individually. ● Maybe a click mode when moving ground up or down instead of having to drag it every time. ● A much needed improved AI. The AI would get lost less frequently, and would have much better pathfinding. For example, not getting stuck on a pathway area that's wider than one unit. ● A improved and better use of the path in general. Instead of 500 guests walking down a single line on a pathway, perhaps make them spread out in two, three, four or five lines across a path, and much more when ever wider path. What do you guys think?
I've only played RCT3, and I was wondering if RCT2 is worth getting over 1? I see they have 1 for about $4.00 on GoG, but RCT2 for $9.00. I know it's not much of a difference but I don't see that many differences between the two games to make RCT2 worth buying. Whats the difference between them apart from more scenarios?
Best game that I ever bought out of a cereal box. Instabought on gog after seeing this thread.

Now, while RCT2 has a lot of "Quality of life" changes, it sort of ruins it for me. Making it too easy.. Or something. For example, in RCT2, you can play any and all scenario in any order you want. There's no progression, like in the first one. In the first one you have to complete one scenario before another one unlocks in that campaign. Another thing is you can save track designs with paths and scenery included. And if you build a track on top of a plant or whatever, the plant will automatically be removed. It might just be my nostalgia talking, but I will chose 1 > 2 any day. :v: Speaking of progress: [img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/99717/rct%20progress.png[/img_thumb]
RCT1 is harder than RCT2 and I think that's why it's more fun. Block brakes are for pussies.
Ok I'll probably get RCT 1 after I finish off an assignment.

Dayum das purdy
RCT2 is probably the only game i have ever played, where i have build scenery just for my own sake and spent SO much time doing it too...
I don't know why but, even with their dated graphics, RCT1 and 2 are just so pretty to me.
I don't know why but, even with their dated graphics, RCT1 and 2 are just so pretty to me.
More graphics doesn't instantly make something look better. This game has a style that's quite charming.
What is a good way to lure in punters in RCT 1, I need 1400 people in my park and it only increased by about 200/300 in year 2 from 500.
More graphics doesn't instantly make something look better. This game has a style that's quite charming.
Art direction > graphical fidelity
More like Bowling Balls Simulator
Is there anyway to get rides to go underground in RCT2? I swear, I've tried so much, and I can't. Would make making rides much more interesting

You'll need to decrease the land by two before it does, I think.
A multiplayer function would be awesome.
A multiplayer function would be awesome.
It should be competitive, winner is the one who can get the most guests. Limited number of guests, if somebody else has more guests it's gonna be harder to gain them.
I wish I was more creative, and not as lazy because this is the best I can usually do with this game. [t]http://i.imgur.com/XzLYSzf.jpg[/t] I usually try to make a custom scenario with nice terrain and stuff to use in sandbox, then say fuck it and make stuff on a flat map.
Fuck I want to play RCT 1 now, glad I still have my disk
The one thing that always put me off RCT3 was the fact that custom signs are broken on any operating system that's higher than Windows XP. (The Registry Edit trick never worked for me.) I found the UI and terrain modification off a little too. If I could get Fireworks, Custom Signs and more than 2 custom songs into RCT2, I would never stop playing it.
I wish I had some pictures of my old RCT3 park. It had a mountain range and a huge lake and a minecart ride that went through both of them
*Cough*
When I was about nine years old, my little sister ran over my RCT1 disc with an office chair. An eye for an eye, disc for a disc- I frisbee'd her Wiggles CD onto the roof. :v:
I never actively set out to cause crashes and would focus on park building, but if one happened because I fucked up a design it was a nice bonus. Also this park inspired so many crappy parks trying to imitate it from me: He had a massive thread on the Atari forums showing his progress from the start right up to where the park was so big it didn't load and he had to abandon the project. I tried looking for it, but it seems to have vanished. If anyone finds it, post it. It's a long read but really awesome.
He had a ton of videos on youtube showing almost the entire game of Ocarina of Time, built very accurately Probably my favorite one Even got Jabu Jabu's belly
I picked up RCT3 for $7.50 the other day, had a lot of nostalgia for the second and I had never played the third. Coaster Cam is so cool! Imagine that shit with the Oculus Rift.
I really want to try and make a boardwalk in RCT3. I've lived near the Jersey shore all my life, so I imagine that shit'd be really fun.
