I still play this game quite a bit, its up there with Simcity 3000. 12 years since I first played RCT/RCT2 and it still holds up. I think I got my moneys worth.
I have SC3K, but sadly I've just never gotten into it since I played SC4 before it... But I agree, RCT will always have a place in my heart.

Does Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 crash for people on Steam when they try to run it?
YOUR thread?
Yes. OP is my alt.
I sure as hell hate my own shit parks, as soon as i see other peoples stuff...
I sure as hell hate my own shit parks, as soon as i see other peoples stuff...
Ah well, same here. I felt like over time while playing the game I was starting to get a better sense for "decorating" my park, and then I stopped playing the game for 5 years :pwn:
half the reason some parks look so nice is simply custom scenery
half the reason some parks look so nice is simply custom scenery
It's crazy the difference it makes. I really, REALLY, wish someone would update the game into 2014. Imagine it it went like OpenTTD. Imagine the proper landscaping tools ... Imagine an improved AI ... Imagine building tools, where you wouldn't have to put each fucking single bit of scenery down each time you wanted to build something! IMAGINE COPY PASTE!!!
the one thing I would love more than anything would be copy paste in RCT [editline]8th March 2014[/editline] I know that RCT3 does have a sort of copy/paste function but it's so tedious to use
Some people...
Some people...
I dunno ... RCT3 just never felt like it should've. At least to me. It's like what Sim Theme Park was to Theme park. Just because they made it into 3D, didn't necessarily make it any better. And that's still what i feel to this very day about RCT3. Sure, it's a fun game, i just have a problem with they named it "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3"
I thought it was alright. On the same level as the first 2 to me. I kind of wish the coasters themselves were slowed down a bit but that's just me, not a change from a previous game
I'd be more interested in a remake of RCT3 than the first two, there was a lot of potential lost in that game.
We should all do a collab park.
That sounds like fun. Maybe, we could have someone play a park for a year, upload the save and hand it off to another user and keep going until you get either a masterpiece or a total clusterfuck.
-snip- thanks

Man, I used to have cool ideas for a custom go-kart track. The track would go up in a spiral pyramid-like structure and to get down, drivers would have to drive down an upside down spiral pyramid track. I did once tried to make this track myself, then I realized that I need a huge area of land for it and I was having very limited space in my own park.
I suddenly have the urge to wanna see a creation like that.
But wait, there's more. I also had this idea of making a race with urban decorations around so it looks like a street race. And I remember that at one point, racers would drive into a park(for decorative purpose only) and out. If the car props aren't so huge, I could have added something like a police roadblock. Then again, space and money is my arch nemesis. I wonder if there's a sandbox mode for RCT2?
just make yourself a custom scenario with no money limit/a billion money

You can download sandbox scenarios. There's quite a few on the net.
I don't know about you guys, but the sound when you lay down a path or when you open an info box(visitors, rides, etc) is music to my ears.
I don't know about you guys, but the sound when you lay down a path or when you open an info box(visitors, rides, etc) is music to my ears.
I honestly have heard nothing more satisfying than that "thump" of laying down some new tarmac. Or rollercoaster track, whatever the case may be. UI sounds honestly have to be one of the most important parts of the experience as I remember RCT.
