I hear sound effects from RCT and Simcity 3000 on the TV and movies, sometimes. Guaranteed I will say "That's from Roller-coaster Tycoon!" Even if the game didn't invent those effects, I still think that.
I can only imagine how hectic a multiplayer park would be if all of us were doing it. What I can't imagine is how fast the cash would go down the shitter. We'd be in the red before March of Year 1 would end.
who wants to try OpenRCT2 multiplayer
who wants to try OpenRCT2 multiplayer
I can't find any documentation on the multiplayer mode, no forum posts or anything i'd be willing to try though
I can't find any documentation on the multiplayer mode, no forum posts or anything i'd be willing to try though
let's just see what happens. I created a server, ip is:73.194.90.219 [editline]17th August 2015[/editline] well it crashes a lot [editline]17th August 2015[/editline] Just closed it down. I'll test it tomorrow, I need some sleep.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/IO1oIAh.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/8otUb1t.png[/t] I'm not sure if any of you people would really care about this, but I can't really do much more with my map, I've run into money issues that I can't really solve at this point (pay to enter park) so I'm going to just release the park for download if any of you want to check it out. It's in OpenRCT2, not sure if it works with regular RCT2. [full park screenshot] [download save file]
http://www.rollercoastertycoon.com/rollercoaster-tycoon-world-production-blog-15-post-gamescom-recap-and-feature-list-updates/ I know getting hyped for games that have no in-game footage yet but fuck me I can't help it. Curved paths, non-grid based object placement and coaster building. Workshop. Actual, proper stations!
I just hope I'll be able to kill people again

I love having those huge park screenshots and just exploring them. Now I wanna play RCT again.
I recently repurchased RCT2 on GoG but it's giving me issues and it made me remember that that game doesn't support higher resolutions. Is OpenRCT2 worth checking out in that case? I keep hearing about it but not much about exactly how feature complete it is.
Is OpenRCT2 worth checking out in that case? I keep hearing about it but not much about exactly how feature complete it is.
Abso-damn-lutely. There's still alot of bumps and snags, but still pretty playable, especially considering from how old the game is, and how incompatible and unoptimized it is today. I'm still with build 1074, and i haven't had a crash in a good while. You can easily take one of the current builds and play around with it.
Yes, get the stable versions and you can use it in lovely high resolution and some other options.
VOLUME SLIDERS! That shit is super future!
Made a nice mirrored coaster, calling it "Twin Devils" Who else is hyped for multiplayer in OpenRCT2?
i've never been any good at making reasonable coasters. i always want to make them really long and super twisty maybe i should try again now that i'm older
i've never been any good at making reasonable coasters. i always want to make them really long and super twisty maybe i should try again now that i'm older
I used to run into that issue too when I was younger. It takes a good bit of practice to make one that has a decent excitement rating.
Here's what I finished the airfield map with (p.s I lost.) Suggest to open it in a new tab [t]http://s22.postimg.org/8g9wh7s0v/SCR4.png[/t]
Why is RCT2 so hard? I can never make a park without losing profit in the end, no matter what I try.
Spread out your shops, keep putting prices up until guests won't buy them anymore. The higher rating your park is the more willing guests are to spend money. Your park entry fee will be the biggest moneymaker - so keep those prices high. Spread out your guests and rides so they are easier to control, if the map is small, doubledecker paths. Guests who like higher intensity rides will go on gentler rides if they have just been on an intense one, so put a round of gentle / mild ones near the big name thrillers.
Why is RCT2 so hard? I can never make a park without losing profit in the end, no matter what I try.
Invest in Go Karts and other thrill rides, especially early on. Increase your entrance fee as much as possible, and make sure you keep doing this as you add rides. Make sure your stores don't have negative profits. If they do, increase the price, move them to a more heavily trafficked area, or delete them. Check the guest thoughts. If there's even one "[item] is a really great value", you should definitely charge more for them. Design your coasters in the coaster designer and then bring them into your save instead of wasting money on a potentially low-excitement ride. Delete rides with low popularity.
Why is RCT2 so hard? I can never make a park without losing profit in the end, no matter what I try.
Making sure that guests don't get stuck in loops is important too, a lot of the time my park will have a ton of lost guests that a little pathway adjusting can mostly fix, make sure people that are out of money can access an ATM if you're charging per ride Oh and if you charge per entry, close the park and force out a lot of people, reopen it and let the people pour back in. Once you hit the population cap in a park it really slows down profits, especially with charge-per-entry. Doing this will net you like $20,000 in entrance sales in a month
Can't you set up roller coasters to launch their riders into parks next door, and those deaths count against that park and not yours?
Can't you set up roller coasters to launch their riders into parks next door, and those deaths count against that park and not yours?
Sabotaging others' parks? I'm getting a Constructor vibe.
Can't you set up roller coasters to launch their riders into parks next door, and those deaths count against that park and not yours?
And to defend yourself from stuff like this you have to build defense-rollercoasters that launch their own carts to make them clash in midair.
Been playing RCT3 and find it really fun. OpenRCT2 has multiplayer, how does it work? Has anyone tried it?
RCTW coaster: And some screenshots: [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNh22N1VAAEVo5g.jpg[/t] [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNh22N2UcAAmSy9.jpg[/t] [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNh22OAUEAEbPb-.jpg[/t]
The fact that the coaster fell apart before it was done was awesome but it kind of seemed to do so for no reason at all Looks extremely promising
The fact that the coaster fell apart before it was done was awesome but it kind of seemed to do so for no reason at all Looks extremely promising
It had speed boosters and was pushing it beyond its limits I believe
I REALLY hope parks can get bigger than that
I REALLY hope parks can get bigger than that
I'm sure it would, I mean, I really doubt the size of a whole park would only be limited to the size of a single roller coaster
