It wasn't until that PCGamesN article I realised this was by Facepunch, and that Facepunch prototype was this.

dunno about the rest of you, but i'm excited. Not excited enough, however, to preorder off the bat. I'm waiting till after this beta weekend's review comes out, and maybe the next one to see how good it is

It´s concerning how much we do not know about this game while the release is just around the corner. This game is clearly not done, that´s why they don´t show anything or talk about a lot of things. I think this game will be released in sort of alpha stage and should have been released as Early access... Definitely not going to pre-order this. I simply just lost faith in this game...
I simply just lost faith in this game...
i can't change your mind but i find this a bit odd. everything they've shown thus far doesn't look bad at all (except for maybe framerate issues)
Yee of little faith! In the meantime, I say enjoy the classics.

How can i trus this? They stil dont give clear answers for many questins, instead, the talk around it. Then there is the fact they showed waaay to little, especialy when release is close and we are supposed to to preorder to get the beta. They also postponed the beta stream,.so there is now like less than 24 hours between the stream and beta. The just want to make as much preorders as possible. The game must be in horrible state and if we saw it, we would be dissapointed. Releasing in like 2 months and we have seen nothing, even no gameplay or people and their behaviour... strange if you ask me...
you act like they haven't showed off anything or haven't talked about the game at all. The game has a preorder option but it's not being advertised harshly like CoD/assassin's creed/deus ex, so i think it's safe to say they just want people to be able to buy the game on their own time; the beta is just a nice bonus.
there are literally 0 red flags on this game and by extension 0 reason to lose faith in it

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
well at least we can wait and let other people be the guinea pigs in this game. Don't like the look of it in october? wait until the 2nd beta weekend in november. Don't like it then? wait until it's release in december/whatever month it might come out. At this point for me, it's just waiting and watching to see how good it is. It'll have to blow me off my feat to preorder it, though.
So, anyone played the beta? Looks like this game is rly a disaster from feedback we get on the official forums

Gathering this from a brief look-around, it seems like a majority of the complaints are for bugs (obv.) and "it's just not like the old games!". Maybe there's still hope...?
I bet defaulting the game to an isometric view (but being able to take it off if desired) would suddenly make it "more like the old games" :v:
Then again I never played RCT3 so I don't know what its' charm was compared to RCT1/2

also a complaint is the seeming complexity of the coaster builder, cause now i'm pretty sure cars can just go flying off if they bank or turn at too high speeds to handle. That and a lot of it is freeform now, no more grids which can make accurate building a little tough. Basically its just more complicated and that putting quite a few people off, which can be understandable

Oh yeah, I remember there being an option in RCT3 to have the camera be isometric. I've never tried that in all the years I've owned that game, although now that I think about it, I would like to try it to see if I can still get the same effect with adjusting terrain on a grid basis and whatnot.

Lol, that's amazing! But yeah, I can understand how the freeform thing will be a shock to say the least.
I played the beta for a bit so here's my thoughts:
It's super buggy, like pre-alpha buggy. Most things you click on or click around could stop working at any time randomly. Although, it didn't crash once for me oddly. The game itself is exactly what I want for rct. Path building is literally the road tool stolen from Cities: Skylines. Coaster building lets you edit every node in 4 different ways on 3 different planes (xyz) so there's unlimited things you can do. The physics themselves are really neat too. While I can see the wood rollercoasters are pretty overly sensitive (it's a bug) to sharp turns, it's really neat to make a 10 car train derail from a sharp turn and sudden dangerous bump. Placing scenery is really good too, although there needs to be an ability to no collide the objects since it doesn't let you place them too close to each other.
tl;dr, the game's potential is 100% there, they just need to fix the game, which doesn't seem likely considering how it's being released in like 6 weeks
The release date is probably being forced, I'm sure the game will be much better a few months down the road than it will be on release

Oh noooo...
It looks godawful.
It really looks like the product of a mix between rushed and unrealistic deadlines and questionable design decisions from the devs. Needless to say I am very worried.
alright this looks shit, i'll still check it out on release and maybe a bit after that but right now we'd best be looking towards Planet Coaster and Parkitect

THIS COMES OUT IN A MONTH????????
like see here's what I want from rctw
I wanna be able to make this

and this

and also this

and so far I don't think its capable of any of that
honestly the thing I'm most frustrated about is the crashing thing. I get the whole realism argument but like its not even a satisfying crash. It just kinda slides off and its very disappointing.
its literally the SimCity of the rollercoaster tycoon franchise, ykno? Over-streamlined and just a general disappointment.
but that makes me hopeful because it means we're due for our cities: skylines.

just wait for frontier to make planet coaster, the spiritual successor to RCT3
If you want a sucessful crash you need to have explosions, death, a red font message about how guest 269 died in a crash on Wooden Roller Coaster 1
and it will hopefully be a City Skylines from SimCity sort of deal with Planet Coaster, but even if neither of them are good (i got more hope riding on Planet Coaster now) we still have the original 3 games that still hold up.
The game is super buggy and not worth you money but all the people sound pretty stupid complaining about missing features when the devs explicitly stated that this beta was only for coaster building (which is pretty buggy)
i'm willing to withhold judgement until the devs declare it's no longer in beta
Man, thank god i didn't pre ordered that...
pretty damn fun to build coasters, but it's way too slow for what it is, even if it's a lot more advanced now
prob gonna buy it anyway, haven't really played anything since gta 5 on ps3 release
tbh after playing the beta I feel that the current devs actually really care about the franchise and really just want to make a good RCT game, but atari breathing down their neck and forcing them to rush out an incomplete game on a ridiculous deadline after switching development teams this many times, it probably just won't happen
this team's talents would be better suited over at the planet coaster team

Yeah, I was hearing how this is like, the third development studio to be working on RCTW? I can't think of any examples at the moment, but as far as I remember; history tells us that when a game has had multiple dev studios working on it over time, results are not so good...
