New release date : early 2016. Good. I was afraid about Atari rushing the game.
Sorry If I am late, this is my first post here and Im new to facepunch. I just saw nerdcubed play RTC:world and I'm very disappointed. I hope the game wont stay in that state, and atari wont rush it out. Are you guys optimistic? I love roller coaster tycoon and I want the new one to be good. Also why get rid of snap system?

Plus, Atari has announced a new release date so i'm still confident that we are going to get a good game.

The artstyle isn't appealing at all and doesn't fit with the previous RCT games. Planet coaster looks a lot more like the actual successor than RCT:W will ever be.

I'll wait until they release the game for judging the art (they can still make changes). However i do admit that for the moment Planet Coaster looks more "cartoon-ish" and funny than RCTW.
I don't really mind that Planet Coaster might have a more cartoonish style considering that RCT3 was the same. If anything, Planet Coaster looks more like they took RCT3's style and developed it a bit further.
Throwing it in that i frequently lurk the forums of Planet Coaster and the devs (indirectly) noted that they are trying to a very good modding ground ready for both to share parks and coasters but also custom scenery, custom effects, custom scenery and such. Right now there is a bit of a debate going on to either have a Steam Workshop or a custom modding client. Steam has its simplicity but that would make it steam independent (people complain about that) and if Frontier would make their own modding launcher thingy then there is a issue that Frontier might pull the server plug a lot faster then Steam or that it is just a mess to work with. The heavy focus on making the peeps/visitors feel alive and active is personally a very big factor for why i want this game over RCTW. In RCT1/2/3 these peeps are almost expressionless (Obviously in RCT1/2, in 3 their face changes every now and then) but in Planet Coaster the visitors will be amazed by your coasters, standing in awe. Or you will see people making selfies with a coaster on a background or in the waiting line. You will see a lot of things going on. i just hope your guests can get killed
See, it's this shit that gets my motor runnin'. If the rest of the game is anything the clip with the mascot, i am starting to look forward to it! Also, OpenRCT2 released 0.0.3-beta stable. i can never get openrct2 to work it always asks for some sort of folder and when i point it to itself it just does nothing
i can never get openrct2 to work it always asks for some sort of folder and when i point it to itself it just does nothing
I think the 'some sort of folder' is the folder, of the original game files. You do know you need a copy of the original game, of GOG.com, steam or hard copy, right?
i did not know that, i kinda expected it to be the full game guess i'll have to wait until i can afford it
i did not know that, i kinda expected it to be the full game
It might be old, but it's not abandonware yet, and probably won't be for some time either. If they were to include the copy in OpenRCT, it would technically be piracy. Kudos to the guys who does the work on OpenRCT for free, but they encourage you support the original game and it's creator.
Planet Coaster has an absolutely hideous art style. I really fucking hate the peeps. Like, really fucking hate them. And the ugly cartoonish art style extends into the rides, which look even worse.
Planet Coaster has an absolutely hideous art style. I really fucking hate the peeps. Like, really fucking hate them. And the ugly cartoonish art style extends into the rides, which look even worse.
I don't know, if the game had a very serious tune to it i think i would actually enjoy it a bit less since well for me i want things to go beyond realism. Thats what games are for, you escape it. Sure i want realistic functions in the game but making the game as realistic as possible.. Egh, no. [editline]1st December 2015[/editline]
i just hope your guests can get killed
They said you guests cannot be killed. They wanted to remain the game as E for Everyone. However crashes and stuff might still get into the game.
it looks like a more evolved form of rct3's art style, which is a good thing
And thank god it steps away from grid building.
i like grid building
Being able to use both would be great.
Being able to use both would be great.
Holding shift to snap to grid (or vice versa) would be neat.
I can't remember if this have been posted in this thread, but watching this kinda stuff really brightens up my mood ... A detailed, chuck full of sceneries and colorful park. Mmmm.
With RCT 2 and 3 i sometimes went as far as closing off sections of the park because a coaster had maintenance where i would simply close the coaster while i placed extra scenery around it. Always tried to make things as realistic as possible and spent 80% of the time designing the park with scenery and stuff, 10% in Paint.net designing custom signs and songs for each ride and 10% actually placing rides and building coasters.

I can hardly make a coaster without an intensity of 12.
this stuff makes me jealous, I've practically grown up with this game and i could never pull off something like this. So I just fuck around in RCT3. I made what is basically a Euthanasia Coaster

I really love the art direction of Planet Coaster. The guests faces reminds me of the "stats" icon in the guest pannel in RCT 1 and 2. Plus modding support for everything in the game ? Boy, this game will be awesome as fuck.

I'm super excited to see some gameplay, not ordering anything till i have seen gameplay. [editline]3rd December 2015[/editline] Regarding RCT2. Working on a mega-park now for the last week, i hooked up Dropbox to my OpenRCT2 launcher on my laptop and home PC so now i am working on the same map everywhere i go :v:

I downloaded the last version of OpenRCT but it looks like the day/night cycle isn't working for me... Do i need to press a key or something ?
