Would be really fantastic if they actually gave info regarding what we can expect in the alpha because i have heard nothing about it.

Early birders might get some email, information, whatever?
A guy on TPR says RCTW's construction system is a nightmare to work with but he managed to get decent results:

Something about this game's visuals is really offputting to me and I can't pinpoint exactly what.

Yeah but as someone who is interested in buying the early bird but is holding back till i get more information i would like to see some more information about it.

The color palate is really muted and earthy, it just doesn't feel like a fun, wacky, kid-friendly theme park.

I think there's also a lot of inconsistency in asset quality. Roller coaster track looks pretty while the surrounding props are low-poly with low-res textures or contrasting art styles. It makes the whole aesthetic look sloppy and slapped together in five minutes.
RCT:W is really lacking assets so far, look at the picture and the UFO's. From what i remember the Alpha had about 5 to 8 different assets per theme. I hope they got a lot more for when the game releases since the Alpha was not that long ago.
Also seeing this screenshot you can indeed say that the color palette is a bit boring and uninteresting.

It's such a shame that Roller Coaster Tycoon is looking so disappointing right now compared to Planet Coaster. In terms of the features we've been shown so far, the devs over at PC seem to really understand how to make this genre great again

Sad to hear the coaster builder is "a nightmare to work with" right now, too. That can always change though
I think everyone, myself included, was really jazzed about this whole spline-based coaster-building system when we first heard about it, but it wasn't until people actually got it in their hands that we now understand how much you lose in terms of precision compared to a piece-by-piece system.

I don't know what you mean about losing precision as spline based is by far the most precise way to do it. I think the implementation is naff though; if it was like NoLimits or NoLimits2 it'd be amazing but I think it's done in the way that LuaRollercoasters add-on for GMOD did and that was incredibly clunky and you couldn't get what you wanted.
Regardless if the implementation's naff, if it's still better than grid based

Planet Coaster is also going to feature spline based coaster building but they did mention that you can enable a grid so you still have a snap on feature.
RCT World can fix this as well by introducing a feature just like that, or something like that you need to hold shift in order to snap it straight.
As well as that, being on a strict grid system messes up transitions. If you ever rode a coaster that was designed on a strict grid, it'd be the most uncomfortable thing ever. I hope Planet Coaster allows you to see forces and such ala NL2; maybe that's asking too much but hey ho
Saw this in an article in news node

Damn the graphics are really good for what it is.
Another thing, the developers kept mentioning Cities Skyline a lot while being in a invterview but honestly what made Cities Skyline so great above the already fantastic game was the modding community. I still hope to see the day we can add custom flatrides, scenery and everything to the game.

Also if you purchased it and you are playing the Alpha
Open the map, go to the buildings/scenery/rides tab and click Search and type in: underconstruction to unlock the (very WIP) coaster builder
Thought the Coaster Head pack came with alpha access. Turns out it doesnt and it's £30(!) to upgrade for just alpha access. As excited as I was to get involved, I'll pass. From what I can see from the various Youtube videos being uploaded, it does look damn good!
i like planet coaster

I don't think we need an entirely different thread for Planet Coaster, this thread isn't exactly bursting with posts.

Looks like that's too late.

I dunno, if people want to go and talk about Planet Coaster, it makes more sense from them to do it there.
I mean if people down the line want to ask a question about Planet Coaster, they'll look for the Planet Coaster thread, not the Roller Coaster Tycoon thread.
RCTW is going to Steam Early Access. I wonder what event would possibly cause them to do this so suddenly?

Do you want one semi-active threads, or two mostly dead ones?

A general rollercoaster-themepark-tycoon-megathread kinda deal wouldn't be too bad.
A general rollercoaster-themepark-tycoon-megathread kinda deal wouldn't be too bad.
That's my point, since that's what's this thread's been all along, except the only game that was worth talking about used to be pretty much only Rollercoaster Tycoon, and as such it started out as Rollercoaster Tycoon general.
Rename & move on, no need to go make new thread(s)

I think something for Tycoon games in general might be a better idea.

They realised that their game is currently in a shambolic state for release yet they can get away with people spending money on a half-assed product by making it early access
So apparently this is one of the latest dev shots that got removed immediately afterward due to instant negative reception:
