If you do the trick where rebirthing doesn't cost any tongues does it still count towards the max number of rebirths you have left?

nope. it's 100% free in every way.
what is this trick. Want to change my character but not ready for ng+ yet. Ive already used up all 5 rebirths
what is this trick. Want to change my character but not ready for ng+ yet. Ive already used up all 5 rebirths
You need at least one rebirth to do it.
[Sp]Midir[/sp] is the worst boss in the series. I had more fun fighting the Prowling Magus than this fucker. That's sad. Like that's literally just pathetically sad.
I love how dumb this game can be. [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/zxnamk.webm[/vid] And then I accidentally kill everyone. [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/skehnh.webm[/vid]
Granted, it may be due to me not liking the weapon itself, but the Giant Door Shield is such a fucking dumb idea. It's like it was added to the game just to allow trolls in PvP to go around emulating OnlyAfro's The Wall, and it has a very marginal utility in PvE

In Dark Souls 2 the stone greatshields weren't this good. The only thing that irritates me is the good tracking and i don't think you can parry that
If the average level for the dlc is around 100 that's probably why I can rarely find anybody.
I went through it at level 70 on NG++ (I can't remember if NG+ can only be summoned by other NG+ or not) and still managed to get summoned pretty regularly, especially for the first boss.
Crossbows are hilariously effective against it; if you outrun their running attack, you can basically get a free hit with a bolt as they're recovering from the animation. I've forced so many people to put away their shields because of it.
Get a shield splitter weapon if you hate having fun.
Oh no, I didn't mean that I hate the weapon because I have trouble fighting people wielding it. I don't even do much PvP (althought that may change quickly once I'll access the [sp]Spears of the Church[/sp] Covenant). I only think it was added to the game for fan service and nothing else
I think it was added to the game because it's silly and even the most serious games can be silly once in a while.
Oh man (Ringed City spoilers) [sp]I so want to become Dragonslayer Armor now that you get his armor as well. Too bad I'd have to reset my stats from my Solaire-cosplay because I can't even wear the armor and the shield right now without becoming overencumbered.[/sp] :v:
I think it was added to the game because it's silly and even the most serious games can be silly once in a while.
Too bad they barely match any fashion. I really can't use them if i don't look like a peasant.
I think it was added to the game because it's silly and even the most serious games can be silly once in a while.
We already have tons of silly shit like cleric's candlestick or golden ritual spear.
Call me a wuss, but I honestly prefer the slower combat of Dark Souls to Bloodborne's going-fucking-berserk gameplay. It's still a great game with a SHITLOAD of amazing things in it, I just didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else. Dark Souls III is easily the best for me.
I find Bloodborne's sped up combat to be detrimental to the gameplay, I understand that it's to provide a more action oriented style, but this coupled with the fact that you regain health if you swing soon enough after taking damage just tunnelvisions the game into an R1 fest even more than Souls games already are. I dunno why but Bloodborne just doesn't sit well with me, I don't like the few weapons and I don't find them more complicated (especially since you're still just going to R1 from beginning to end), I'm not a fan of the setting, the lack of offhand choices (smaller gun, bigger gun, shotgun.. Okay) is meh, and every single builds are the exact same except you'll have Arcane instead of STR or DEX in one build or the other, but it doesn't chance a lick-a-thing in terms of how you're going to play. It brought cool ideas like every iterations of souls do, charged R2s are excellent and auto-stash deposit is such a welcome addition, but oh boy do I hate that they took more than this into DS3, like enemy design, too many enemies ended up just being "tall slender enemy that has a thousand possible attack chain, also they all screech extra loudly for no reasons". I have to admit the setting is great even though I don't like it, and the world they crafted is cool, but I think the more impressive feat is how NOBODY knew or expected The Nightmare aspect of the game, so everyone got surprised and that clicked well with people, understandably.
Agreed. The pace of Bloodborne's combat made it quite the R1 fest and I reckon it is the easiest game in the series because of it. You can get through pretty much the entire game by R1 spamming with a saw cleaver, even most of the bosses. Build variety was also much smaller. They varied in damage stats only, as just about every build ended up with 50 vitality, 50 in the primary damage stat, and other points dispersed around the other skills. Endurance being almost useless didn't really help matters either, there wasn't much of a point to raise it past 20 or so. The small scope of it did mean that what was there was polished quite nicely, though. All the weapons being quite different from each other was good, even if a fair few of them were complete garbage (eg whip, stake driver, rifle spear, claws), and the way combat looks and feels was really great in BB, I am an especially big fan of the limb breaking system for bosses.
Heh...
Why are there both a ring and a Miracle in Blade of the Darkmoon The one covenant that never moves
Oh yeah also adding more grotesque enemies (the centipede woman i guess) for apparently no reason, some areas like Undead Settlement reminding me of Blooborne. Plus more Berserk references etc. I like Miyazaki but i'll be quite exhausted and tired if their next IPs is going to have exaggerated amount of influences from other stuff. Dark Souls 3 doesn't feel like an own game.
What level did all you guys do the dlc at? I'm trying to figure out how much I need to level up to be able to do more co-op and invading in the dlc.
SL80. It was a good experience overall, but there were not as many signs and fast summons as you'd normally expect.
Woah, [sp]I just got sucked into being a church boss after placing a passworded white soapstone sign (by the Ringed City Streets bonfire) without even having the covenant thingy. All that just to get myself killed by a 4 man squad [/sp]:v:
beyond the regret of doing all the additional content with my ng+6 character, i couldn't be more satisfied with the second dlc. i was hoping to see more of the dreg heap given the possibilities it offered in level design, but the ringed city area pretty much fixed that for me. fromsoft level design at its finest, comparable to ds1 👌 also fuck midir
I love the DLC but I can't help but wish we would've seen / walked through more areas from previous games combined together, but in a ruined state (also would've loved to see old enemies come back with new yet recognisable moves), walking on the undead burg bridge with a dead dragon blocking the path to the cathedral, so you go down and fall into the throne room of Drangleic Castle with a Syan Knight, you open the door and it leads into nothingness, you jump and land onto a seemingly random place but as you explore a bit you realise it's a 2 rooms from previous games merged into 1, etc.. Stuff like that, I would've loved and felt it would've been a nice additional way of portraying that it all ends here.
I'll admit, the Lapp twist wasn't totally unexpected, I actually enjoy it. I feel like I'm near the end of the whole thing, but I'm currently trying to overcome the ultimate roadblock, [sp]Darkeater FUCKING Midir[/sp]. Now, I don't know if, as usual, I'm blowing things out of proportions, but, to be extremely fair: 1) This boss has an unreal amount of HPs. Like, on this character I'm on NG and it feels like I'm facing a boss in NG+++, maybe even above that. 2) His moves are telegraphed enough, but, since the boss is big, it's hard to have a good visual on it. This gets worse whenever you are close enough to do damage (if you are on a melee character) 3) Said moves tend each to hit your character like a freight train, plus they have screwed hitboxes (this is yet another charging big boss where you get hit by the charge even if you are right behind it before it starts the move) 4) Like the first boss of the DLC, this is a battle where you'll spend most of the time trying to navigate the huge arena trying to find a second or two of breathing room to deal one or two attacks to the boss. Did I also mention that this boss has a lot of HPs yet? 5) The NPC you can use for this fight is only useful to boost the boss HP pool, since her AI is so terrible she'll keep trying to cast a miracle on the boss, missing it nearly all the time, and will never go into melee range, so she also sucks as a tank. 6) There's so much demand for summoned player that you either get to the signs instantly or someone else will beat you too it. Oh, and the "You shall not pass through this fog" bug is still rampaging, so suprisingly often the summoned players can't get into the arena and you get to fight the boss with boosted HPs. And this boss has, as I mentioned earlier, a lot of HPs already. 7) The design of this boss, who is supposed to be [sp]a dragolich[/sp], is underwhelming, to say the least. And the boss and the arena have the same colour scheme, so you'll be staring at undefined mass of black and blue goo for the whole fight
midir is manageable, but my biggest gripe was the camera and his ridicolous health pool. after a while, especially if you're pure melee, you're bound to make mistakes and get oneshot, which made the fight pretty tedious to me even after understanding his moves
I did [sp]Midir[/sp] on my onyx pyro character. I'm both physically and mentally ill.
I feel the npc that can help you for [sp] Midir[/sp] is almost a reference to the one in Shulva, has cool stuff but it's useless. I still wished for the black dragon armor from ds2 to return
i recommend doing midir solo anyways, since you can fully predict his moves that way
My friend got me the season pass for my birthday so Im finally playing through ashes and eventually rings. My paths though at the moment. [sp]Be a chew toy for a wolf, fight wolverine, or go deal with the AC-130 archers in the valley.[/sp] Its been a while since I've played Dark Souls and man have I lost any skill at the game whatsoever.
I feel that if this mask was a slightly different shade of purple it'd go with the Antiquated Plain Set a lot better.
At this point I just put something from YouTube on my smartphone and take on [sp]Midir[/sp] for the nth time without a care in the world
I really hope From does something to improve the Midir fight, because as it is I'm really not enjoying it and I don't want to waste any more time on this. The camera is possibly the worst it's ever been, and Midir feels massively overleveled, even more so than the rest of the DLC that I struggled to beat on NG with my SL120+ character. This whole DLC has had some problems with being irritating and tedious, but Midir is the worst offender by far.
